How to Negative Split Your Ultras and Finish Faster with Nick Coury

Everyday Ultra

About this episode

If you’re looking to run your best race yet, this is the episode for you. Our guest today is Nick Coury, who was named the #2 Ultrarunner of the Year for 2021 for having a stellar year of races. Out of those races, Nick’s most notable accomplishment was breaking the American Record for most miles ran in 24 hours by running 173.01 miles in that timeframe at the Desert Solstice Invitational. His secret? Using the power of negative splitting and preventing the small issues from snowballing into big ones.

In this episode, he shares exactly how you can do those things in your own ultra endurance journey.

Nick is also one of the owners and co-founders of Aravaipa Running, a running event company that hosts some of the most well known races in the United States, such as the Javelina Jundred and the Black Canyon 100k.
