How to Make Peace with Grief - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Can you shake hands and make peace with grief?
Everything that lives will eventually stop living – that’s true whether we’re talking about a blade of grass or your favorite person. Loss is inevitable, so why are we so shocked and grief-stricken when it happens?
- “If only I’d taken my dog on more walks she would have lived longer.”
- “If I’d watered it more often, my lawn wouldn’t have died.”
- “If only I’d…” – well, you get the idea, right?
We take on responsibility for something that would have happened anyway, and use that feeling of responsibility to beat ourselves up.
Stop it. Be nicer to yourself. When you can see a loss coming, get as philosophical about it as you possibly can. Because loss is inevitable. Beating yourself up over it is optional.
