How to Keep Hurful Words From Hurting You - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Did someone say something hurtful about you? It could have been something they said to your face, behind your back, or even on social media.
Hurtful words hurt. We’re social creatures and care about how others feel about us, which is why hurtful words hurt.
How long they hurt you depends on what you choose to do with them. If you dwell on it, telling others about what was said and how much it hurt you, and maybe even trying to get the other person to see you differently, you keep the pain active. Or you can reframe the event and move past it.
Hurt people hurt people – make up a story inside your head that explains their bad behavior and move on, giving it not another thought. That incident was about them, not you.
