How to Handle an Argumentative Person - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Think of every argument you’ve ever been part of – there were at least two people in it, right? What do you do when a family member, friend, or co-worker gets mad and wants to argue with you?
You can just let them vent. Go ahead, give them plenty of time to spout their irritation. When they run out of steam and are finally quiet, take a breath before you start to reply. Let there be space in the silence between you, then respond in a soft tone of voice. Even if they’re behaving like the south end of a northbound mule, respond the way YOU want to behave, not the way they want or expect you to behave.
It takes two people to argue – when you chose not to be one of them, then an argument can’t happen.
