All right, all right. Here we go. I want to talk about this because I came to an epiphany. I think I had before, but it comes to me again because obviously we're on the subject of OCPD. You see, we never really forget the universe. We'll remind you in divine timing because I already know about this information. And again, I'm not a doctor. I am not a therapist. I'm not here to give any advice and this is not advice at all. Okay. As you know, someone who deals with OCPD and yes, there are those who have traits. Doesn't mean you have OCPD if you have traits. And there's nothing wrong with you. So please check out the other ones before this one and the search engine type in OCPD. They will pop up and think about things I was wondering. Can there be a specific incident or an environment that over time can I guess you can say trigger OCPD to worsen? Because as we know, OCPD is considered a long-term personality pattern. It usually starts showing up early in adulthood.
By early adulthood is what I mean. That means it typically doesn't appear overnight because of one bad event. But the part that's very important is because stress environments can actually make OCPD traits worse is what I've learned after I questioned it. I wanted to find out. So what do I do? I dig for information because of experience. I really do feel and I agree with that. Our environments can actually worsen OCPD and make someone sick. If you think about it, constant pressure at work, being understaffed, telling people what they have to do when you feel that you don't even get paid enough to be doing that or feeling responsible for everything, because everything's going to fall on you, never being able to rest, or you may even feel or even know for a fact that something's not going to get done right unless you do it, because some people just have asked things. These types of situations can push traits into
perfectionism. If they're ready, if you're ready, if you're already stressed and a perfectionist to begin with, these situations are going to push these traits like perfectionism, rigidity, and overworking into overdrive. And when this happens, it stops being just a personality style. It starts affecting your health, your relationships, your ability to even function. It's horrific. And if you're going through this or have been, please journal all you can remember, because when you do, you're releasing the energy. And I want you to tell yourself that you are okay. There's nothing wrong with you. If you're here, you're probably acknowledging or becoming more self-aware and trying to understand yourself as I do myself every day, but I really do want to make it clear. OCP itself is not usually described as life-threatening in medical language, and I'm not here to be clinical at all ever. I'm just speaking from personal experience mixed in with stuff I learned on the internet. The reason why I say OCP can make you sick is because the environment
can trigger the OCPD from what I understand it to be when I became more aware of this back in the day and now and being reminded and all that stuff. And OCPD can lead to sickness. But if you look at the core of it, we all know it probably comes from some kind of trauma, childhood, generational, ancestral, ancestral, who knows? Well, we always know, but you know what I mean? In conscious of it. Mine is childhood. I know that, but it's also generational and just so you know, I don't look at this as a complete negative. I see a lot of positives within dealing with OCPD, and I don't blame anyone. There's a time when you understand yourself enough to where you have to take responsibility and make changes. You go through the blame stage, but you must get over it and push over it. And continuation, yes, the things that you do that can make you sick is overworking because you don't eat, you skip lunch, you work until night time, you go home, you don't sleep, you go back
to work, you stop going to the gym, you stop hanging out with friends, you don't even go to school anymore. Your hobby stop because you're focusing on work or a project that somebody needs done or even your own business. You can even build something. I don't know what movie it is, but there's a movie where some guy is building something and he's so addicted to it that he stops taking care of himself and he stops eating. He neglects his family. Let's continue on with sickness. We know from occupational health research that long hours chronic stress are linked to heart disease, stroke, risk, burnout, sleep problems and immune systems like I spoke about. This is the information I found on the internet. So the real danger isn't the label of OCPD. The danger is getting trapped in a system where you feel you cannot stop. You have to keep going. You feel if you rest, everything's going to fall apart and you're the only one that you can trust. That's the part
that can slowly hurt your body and I want to remind you this is not about weakness at all and it's not complaining if you do want to talk about this to anyone and how you feels completely valid. I have experiences firsthand being so stressed at work that I got sick and it led to more perfectionism, more rigidity. But overall I am very, very proud of you for being here as I am myself because understanding the difference between dedication pressure and self-destruction might literally protect your life. If you do OCPD, the goal isn't to lose your strength. It's to keep the discipline, the care and the work ethic or whatever you're doing without letting them become the thing that destroys your health. Don't let it take over. There are some people who are addicted to going to the gym and they get sick balance. It's all about balance. You know what we really need to normalize is being able to quit if we're not happy. Society has been molded into casting
judgment on people who jump from job to job. I like to call them job hoppers and the thing is it's okay for them to do that. If you think negative about anybody quitting a job, it's probably because you have been raised to think this way. You are part of the program. You are part of the problem. If you think this small when it comes to working and being stuck because that's what it is. When you don't leave a job that you're not happy in, you are mentally and physically stuck. And it's you that's making that decision. So if somebody just respects you at work, always giving you a hard time, always picking on you, quit. And this is partly why I tell people not to join the military. You can't just quit. And they can make your life hell. If somebody does not like you, they can make your life hell. They can even make it to where you get a dishonorable discharge. I've seen it done. I've seen people who had firewall fives on their performance reports.
And one person doesn't like them. They give them a three. Now if they wanted to, they would really give them a one, but they don't do that because you have to have a lot of paperwork in order to push it that low. But a three is considered acceptable. But it really is not because if you are always upperforming and working hard, that's not average. And it affects your promotions. Everything's a point. So normalize it. If you don't like it somewhere, if your body's telling you to leave, leave who cares what other people think. So just understand yourself, ask why you do what you do and start journaling if you don't already do it. There are some journals in the description below in the links. If you want to check them out. My name is Rihanna. And I thank you for being here. I feel please like and share and tell others about this podcast. And yes, I'm going to continue on right here. And if you want to tell others about this podcast, please give a shout out. I greatly appreciate it. So they find the information. And it helps other people. It helps other people. That's why I'm here. And of course for myself, because this is very healing podcasting
is very, very healing. So again, if you're in an environment and over time, you start feeling yourself being more protective of your work, unable to delegate, eating less, not taking lunch like you used to. You stop taking those 15 minute breaks. You stop going a happy hour on a bright end when you get off early and you go straight home to work again. You bring work home. Please, please seek help and understand that's not normal. That's not normal when you're bringing work everywhere. And you are the work work becomes you because in the end, you are replaceable. You have to take care of yourself. No one's going to take care of yourself as much as you are. So love yourself, put yourself first. And it's okay to be selfish. Everything is about balance. You selfish up to a point. You know where the balance is. You know where you're pushing it.
And you know where you need to be selfish. And if you feel any negativity about feeling selfish or even using that word in a positive way, ask yourself why you feel this way and journal. I have some good manifestation journals that have prompts on the front. If you want to check those out, so just take care of yourself. Love yourself and be your own best friend. Until next time, thank you and have a beautiful, beautiful experience.
