So rumor has it that back in 2023, the Panthers drafted Bryce Young number one overall. I believe if I'm mistaken, they got that pick from the bears in a tree. Yeah. It's been chronicle. I can confirm it. I can confirm it. Okay, the sources confirm that is true. Bryce's had maybe a little bit of a similar career to Caleb in the sense that there was just

2:04absolute turbulence in his rookie season. And then it's kind of leveled off. And it felt like last year, maybe he found his footing a little bit. It wasn't as dazzling, wasn't as impressive, wasn't as magnificent as some of the highlights that Caleb put together. But where do you see Bryce Young heading into the start of season four in terms of his headspace, in terms of the momentum, in terms of everything he's capable of at this point? Yeah, I think he's on an upward trajectory. I don't know how, you know, there's still this huge debate with Bryce of how high is the ceiling. And you know, I don't know. And this is going to be tricky this year. As you talk to some people, it's like, well, you know, how high is the ceiling this year when he's got to plug in, plug in tackles. Yeah. And it's a fair, you know, it's not excuse making. I mean, I think that's a fair point to make. I mean, his rookie year, the line was pretty bad. But obviously they have not extended him.

3:08There's not been a ton of talk about it. They're their cap guy we spoke to in camp. And he all but said, we like Bryce. We want to see a little more. We're not going to do anything, you know, you had to kind of read between the lines, but they're not, they're not doing anything during the season, at least at this point. And so yeah, I mean, it, he's a tricky, he, and a much different level. Cam Newton, Cam Newton was a very divisive figure here in Charlotte because some people loved him. I mean, everyone liked, thought he was a freak athlete. But there was some, you know, that just never totally warmed up to him, which was kind of crazy. It's guys an MVP. But then Bryce, Bryce isn't necessarily divisive. Well, certainly not in that way. But there is this part of the Panther fan base. It's just still not sure that this five foot 10 kid can be a super bowl type caliber quarterback.

4:15Sure. So I don't want to pay him, you know, because if they're going to extend him, you're not getting him for 25 million. You're going to be investing upwards of 40, 50 a year, right? And so it's going to be a fascinating season, starting with week one. And I know I'm talking too long because this, this is a team and a quarterback who have not played well early during Bryce's early in the season during Bryce's tenure. What are the coaches looking for from Bryce? What are the target areas as he goes into the start of season four that are really the points of emphasis? This is very vague, but but really consistency has been lacking. He's he since he came into the league, I think he has the most fourth quarter come back. So you know, even more than then all the guys like Rogers that you might suspect are on the list and are on the list. But the other quote, the part of that is like, why are you getting in those situations all the time where you need to pull the rabbit out of your hat?

5:17And so just a little bit more consistency throughout games, again throughout seasons. I mentioned he's been not very good early in the year. I mean, I got him benched two years ago after two games. And yeah, I mean, I'll say this. I had like a lot of folks, my questions about his size coming out Alabama where whether he could be durable enough and withstand the the rigors of these huge NFL dudes over 18 weeks and 17 games pounding on him. He's really been he has sort of a knack and a way of kind of just ducking under hits and not just getting blown up. And he's he's answered the bell. That has not been the issue at all. It's just, you know, he had this fantastic game in Atlanta last year, like 500 yards. Just put them on put the team on his back one and over time and just you're not going

6:20to do that every week. But more performances like that. Just so you know for your own background, the Bears, I believe their final total last season was seven victories, including the playoffs in which they trailed in the final two minutes. So you talk about a team that got themselves into pickles figured out a way to get out of them. Caleb Williams doing the magic at the end of games. Very similar there. I'll let you take this any direction you want to take it, but this core of playmakers on the Panthers offense. You got the two backs, Hubbard and Brooks, promising receiver and McMillan, maybe the place to start. Obviously Darren Waller comes in. And so I like McMillan a lot. He's long. He's fluid route runner. They were a little concerned about his strength and inability or struggles, I should say, kind of getting off of press coverage. And so he bulked up some in the off season. I think he did it too without losing a step. I mean, looks just kind of looks strong. And he's a nice piece. And then you go to an undrafted guy who is their number two, Jalen Kocher, who has

9:25outplayed first round pick from a couple years ago Xavier Legat, who looks apart. You blind those two guys up next to each other at the underwear Olympics in India. And you're picking Xavier Legat, which is why they did and why Jalen Kocher went undrafted for seven rounds. Kochers, Kochers, dude, who high points passes. He's just kind of an old school receiver who, you know, not the flashiest guy, but jump balls. He usually's coming down with them. To me, the big X factor on their offense, well, a couple of them. I mean, what do they have in Darren Waller, who last year in Miami, you know, missed seven games. Dude, injury three different injuries. All soft tissue. Now he'll tell you and I don't, and I think this is valid. He didn't think he was going to be playing football in 2025.

10:25He was retired the year before, decides in June. He wants to play tells his agent ends up in Miami a couple of weeks later, you know, hip flexor in camp. Anyway, he looks better, but they really have been slow playing him. So even I think he caught during camp then one pass. And he was only here for half a kick, but one pass during team drills. Okay. And but last year when he was healthy, his 24 catches went for touchdown. So he is a red zone weapon for Bryce Young. He's one X factor and then Jonathan Brooks, who, as you know, two ACLs miss essentially, you know, all but three games his first two years. I don't know. You know, he's a great kid. You know, this is a franchise that had Thomas Davis returned from three ACLs. You'd like it for the story, but I don't know, watching him run around this summer.

11:27And he looked okay and he didn't get hurt. And you know, he's like that. It was, but I don't know.
