Houston Cougars Dominate Kansas Jayhawks in Big Twelve Semifinal

0:00On March 15th, the 5th seeded Houston Cougars cruised past the 3rd seeded Kansas J-Hawks in the big 12 tournament semifinal, winning. 69-47 Houston's defense smothered Kansas all game long, holding them to just 25% shooting from the field. Earlier this season, Kansas had handed Houston their biggest loss in over 2 years, 69-56. But the Cougars flipped the script this time, building a double-digit lead by half-time at 33-25 and pulling away in the second half. Freshman stars powered Houston to victory. Kingston Fleming's dropped 21 points, while Chris Sennick Jr. added 17 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had won close quarter finals on Thursday, but Houston came out fresher and sharper. Houston bolted out to a 13-5 lead in the first four minutes, thanks to the hot three-point shooting and lockdown defense. They stayed in control, hitting 56% from beyond the arc overall, while Kansas struggled to find any rhythm.
