This is an I Heart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. I, it's Marcus Allen, pro football Hall of Famer, NFL MVP, and Super Bowl champion. I played football for a long time. One thing I've learned is nobody really knows what's going to happen next. Before the snap, you can study the defense, you can know the play, and you can see the opening. But eventually, you have to make a decision and go. For me, that was the fun of football. The moment between getting the ball and finding out whether you made the right read, I loved it. I understand what Underdog brings the sports fans. Because once you make your pick, you're not just watching anymore. Every snap matters, every yard matters, every decision matters. Everybody thinks they know what's coming next. Well, Underdog gives you somewhere to put that opinion into play. Pick them, money lines, totals, spreads, games, and more across your favorite sports. We got Buffalo playing host to the Detroit Lions. You'll have to go back into the podcast to get that pick against the spread as the bills open up their new pig skin palace. Our lead though this hour is from the team that the bills beat back in week one. We go to Houston. We're a Texans legend and Hall of Famer Andre Johnson. Good player generic name. Right. Good play. If you remember Andre Johnson very productive player put up big stats. He wasn't really a media darling and he had just a generic name. So you don't really remember generic name guy. If you have a generic name, you got to come up with a nickname. There's got to be something that makes you stand out from the crowd.

Otherwise you will be forgot. Now everyone eventually gets forgot. That's just the way life is. We're just actors and those new actors that replace us at some point. That said though, you can elongate the thing if you have an nickname like Babe Ruth. The BamBino. Oh man, the BamBino. You got to have an nickname. CJ Stroud was criticized by Andre Johnson. I don't if you saw this or not, perhaps not. And he called them out for a language violation. Now what did CJ Stroud do? Did he speak pig Latin? No, it's not that kind of language dummy. It's not the verbal language. It turns out that Andre Johnson retired former NFL player criticized CJ Stroud for his body language. He's calling it quote bad and saying that it bothers Andre Johnson when watching Houston play. So Johnson's concern is that Stroud is supposed to be the face of the franchise, the leader, the quarterback and all that.

And he says the negative body language from CJ Stroud can quote trickle down to teammates during adversity. Now Andre Johnson also challenged CJ Stroud to deliver in critical moments something that he has failed to do. He had butter fingers at the end trying to play hero against Buffalo and who goofed. I've got to know, got to hold on to the ball possession is 9 tenths of victory. So Johnson challenging Stroud to actually step up when the game's on the line. If he wants to become one of the NFL's highest paid quarterbacks and matchups like the game against the bills with Josh Allen, an example of that, which is not wrong. The only problem with that hypothesis from Andre Johnson is we're in the era where it doesn't matter. You know, turtle, total turdbuckers like Kyler Murray, they get picked Justin Herbert. These guys aren't good. They get paid though. Everyone gets paid. You really have to blow to not get paid as a quarterback in the NFL.

Anyway, back to the issue at hand. So Andre Johnson calling out the body language, the trickle down effect, the fact that CJ Stroud has been unable to get her done in big moments. Now Stroud was asked about this. Do you think he said, A, I absolutely am a clown in big moments. B, no comment or C, just kind of blow off the question and move on. Now the answer would actually be C Stroud responded. He tried to be diplomatic. He said, quote, I respect Dre as a person. I appreciate his critiques. He then declined, declined to actually respond to the question. So we can answer any way we want. Anyways, all the good jumping off point. Let us discuss the question. You got a Hall of Famer Andre Johnson calling out Texans quarterback CJ Strouds, quote, bad body language.

Are you rolling, rolling, rolling with this take by Andre Johnson, are you waving it off? Are you rolling with it? Are you waving it off? So after a minutes long deliberation of the available information, things got a little bit dicey. And yeah, we've got our answer. I've got closed captioning orthopedic surgeon and iPhone battery. And we'll put these together. We'll make the gobbagool. We'll use our elbows to have the bobbagunush. And then we'll have a little bit, not too much of the jumbalaya. And first of all, I'll answer the question. Are you rolling with this take by Andre Johnson that CJ Strouds body language is bad and he's got to step up in big moments, or are you waving it off? So I am going limp biscuit on this one and rolling, rolling, rolling. Andre Johnson is dead on, right? Dead on the Texans don't need CJ Stroud to go full, Walter White sitting in the crawl

space there with it's the offense sputters around. We don't need that. You're paid to be a leader, a leader of grown men in theory. You're not paid to sulk there because you're upset the restaurant forgot your honey mustard or God forbid your ranch. CJ Stroud goes from I'm the field general to a class case of emotion faster than Ron Burgundy in that old movie increment. But seriously CJ Strouds body language, it ought to have closed captioning and it kind of does because you watch him on TV CJ Stroud, the body language it says in the closed captioning, we are currently losing. I'm not happy. And he has the emotional poker face of a five year old who got told, hey, we're going to go to Disneyland, psych, it's not open today. What? I'm talking shoulders down, head down, powder face, all that stuff.

Somebody get him a juice box CJ Stroud, he needs a juice box and when the machine breaks down and it often does. It often and the machine's always break down. It all it just happens. CJ Stroud looks like somebody unplugged him and it's a big deal. It has been estimated according to people that have studied communication between human beings, 55% of communication is nonverbal. So more than half of all communication is nonverbal. And yet, and yet when the going gets tough and it often does for the Texans. CJ Stroud starts picking imaginary lint off his jersey that his default position, that his default position. Now secondly, to Dallas, we go, I'm told I must mention the Cowboys at least once, at least once per show or I'm not going to meet my, my quota. So fresh off a humbling and stumbling loss to the New York football giants, the Cowboys

trying to get back on the wagon again, the winning wagon. And of course that wagon going down the dirt road this week, they play the Washington football team. One underlying storyline from the Giants Cowboys game is the play of wide receiver George Pickens. Now some of you are convinced this is going to be an amazing year. George Pickens is playing for a contract. He's going to be great. So Pickens caught just three passes for 28 yards in the loss in Jersey, the swamp dragon must have gotten them. Now I'm told that's not good. I didn't play in the NFL, but I'm told if you're a high paid wide receiver and the franchise receiver and you only make three catches for 28 yards, I'm told that's not good. Oh, you're so mean, Mallor. I know, I know. I'm a Schmock. So he also committed the part of the story which is interesting is George Pickens had not won but two drop passes. Got to think it's but a thing is but a thing is catchable passes. He dropped. Now asked about the mistakes Pickens gave a shrug.

He said quote, it's football. You're going to have some here. You're going to have some there close quote. Now that is a great quote. I had no idea the Cowboys are playing football. I thought they were playing another sport. I am shocked. That is a hot take by George Pickens. Did you know that because the Cowboys does look like they played football since like the 90s. That's a long time ago. I was a little kid back then. I mean, man. So that's the big revelation. Now Pickens acknowledged that he needs to quote limit those. You think the mistakes so he can make big plays and he knows he's capable of those plays. I'm sure he is. Question. Cowboys wide receiver. By George George Pickens. He doesn't sound too concerned here. George Pickens not too concerned with the dropped passes. Can you unravel what all of this actually means? So Pickens treating those drops kind of like some of you treat a letter from the internal

revenue service. Let me go get them. Oh, I got them. Oh, what's that? Oh, that's a letter from the IRS. Okay. So if you don't open it, maybe it didn't happen and they don't have any proof whether I got the letter or not. I can open it. It's not real. If I don't open it, it's not real. Now, he says it's football. You can call it just football. But Jerry Jones. He calls it negotiating leverage. Leverage is what he calls it about leverage. So think about it. I can imagine your plan for the Cowboys, your somewhere in Texas, you go to the Baylor Medical Center. You go in there to have a procedure done and you've got your orthopedic surgeon and right before you're about to get put under for the operation, the surgeon's talking to you, everything's going to be fine. And then they go in there. They operate. And the orthopedic surgeon operates on the wrong knee and says, sorry, it's just surgery. You're going to miss one here and there. I mean, just kind of happens.

That's it. I just operate on the wrong knee. But I mean, I tried and that's it. And it just happens. And you're going to miss some. And now you'll have two new needs. That's good. And you'll make a lot of money in a malpractice lawsuit. That's good. So you're playing on the franchise tag, George Paykins. The franchise tag is a one year audition. It's a 17 game dummy run to prove that you'll keep your nose clean and you'll perform and all that stuff. And every drop is a withdrawal from the bank of Jerry. The cowboys are paying for George Paykins. And so far have received George dropkins is what they've received here. So he's on pace if my math is correct. He plays all 17 games. He's on pace there. Pickens for 34 drop passes, which seems like a lot. That seems like a lot. So Paykins is essentially playing for the next payday, which likely will not come from

the cowboys. And so costly drops, you would say, would limit the amount of money that you're going to make in the next country, that just logical conclusion to come to. All right. Meanwhile, final thought to the backfield we go. And interesting comments by the NFL's all time leading Russia. One of the great cardinals of my life. I always loved him with the cardinals back in the day. Emmett Smith. Emmett Smith of the Arizona Cardinals. And the NFL's all time leading Russia. He believes that the Ravens running back Derek Henry has a legitimate chance to break his NFL career Russian wreck. Emmett saying quote, oh yeah, I think it's possible. Close. He's the cool aid man. Henry 32 years old. He currently ranks number 10 all time in Russian yards. Smith crediting the longevity, which is unusual at that position based on conditioning

and taking care of his body, saying that the bigger running back like Derek Henry, the bigger running back, as he is, it takes great care of his body remains in great shape. And that's the question. The all time leading Russia Emmett Smith says Ravens back Derek Henry may break his NFL rushing record. What do the Malar odds tell us? That's right. Time to turn to our favorite idiot, the Malar odds. All the scuttle but everyone wanting to know what the Malar odds say. So let's get to the Malar odds right now. So the odds that Derek Henry plays long enough to pass Emmett Smith. Let's just say Emmett is being very gracious. The Southern Hospitality is coming through. This is not mathematics. The Malar sports book odds, the line sits at plus 10,000. What is that? That implies a grand total of a 1% chance, 1% chance.

That's it. Henry mentioned he's 32 and asking him to catch Emmett Smith. It's kind of like asking your iPhone battery to stay at 100% fully charged without being plugged in or on a charger until 2030. With the technology we have right now, forget about it, forget about it. Running backs don't gracefully age. It's kind of like you let your dog, you have a wild dog and the dog gets in the kitchen and the dog's fudging around and knocks your ninja blender off the counter. That's what happens. Like one day you wake up and all of a sudden you're running back can't run. What happened? So if Henry plays four more seasons, four more seasons, he would need to average if my math is correct you're the Malar math is roughly 1300 yards per year to pass Smith.

That means 76.4 yards every single week with no days off with no injuries, no games missed. So you're asking a 32 year old running back to basically put together another all pro career starting right now. And besides Henry, he has made FU money times FU money to infinity money. He's made $81 million before taxes. Now even after taxes, he's still clearing about $90. So he's got a big fund of $90 after he pays all the taxes. So does he really want to continue to get pulverized by linebackers every single Sunday and Monday and possibly Thursday when he could be eating truffles on a luxury yacht or a poolside Capata there somewhere in the French Riviera right there and for the ocean. You know all that. So that's always the thing about these longevity records.

Do you really want to do it when you've made the big money? Big big money. Tom Brady did. Tom Brady did others. Not so much. It is the Ben Mallor show. The great Tim McDarby points out the tabloid, the New York Post, one of the few newspapers still marching on. And the big headline on the back page, Judge and Worry.

Judge and Worry. And there's concern for the captain Aaron Judge after he exited the game with the twins yesterday afternoon with leg tightness. And also the next great Yankee. It was like a religious revival when he made his Yankee debut. We're talking about the next great Yankee shortstop, of course. Mr. Lombard, who I think you'd rather have Lombard Street at this point, the way things are going defensively. A lot of mistakes. That seems like that's something that's going to kick the Yankees right in the balls during the playoffs that he's going to boot a play and he's going to f up. And that's that's not great. And the other issue with the new Yankee prodigy, by the way, the Yankees did something they almost never did. They lost to the twins yesterday, which is like twins always just roll over. But the great face of Yankee baseball for years to come, George Lombard Jr. batting

2.25 with three home runs in his 34 regular season games. I don't think that's great. I know you're being such a head of what is wrong. I know. I know. His OPS is 6.27. Next great New York Yankee. The pride of South Florida. George Lombard Jr. Some calls it is a call in show. Let's see who do we have. Eany, meany, meany, meall. Let's say hello to big daddy. Big daddy is up next in Memphis. He's on the dial. I on number five today. Hello, big daddy. Peace to the planet. Hello tomorrow. My fans and all my constituents. No, I'm on nine today. I'm on two with three. I'm on nine. I can play in the coop. Yeah, go ahead. I'm something I'm not being. I want to do the mail. Man, did you get it? I did get your number.

I have some people ahead of you, but I will I will put you on the big board. Not a list, not a list, but we'll get you on there. Yeah, you do it on Sunday. You've got to call me. I got to be ready on the Sunday. I'll let you know when we do it. Usually late Saturday or at least Sunday, but I'll let you know when, okay? Okay, good. Good. I got you. That's why I'm taking in to make sure I know when I get a call. And I see some money. I'll make sure I pick it up. Yeah, very good, very good. What's going on with you, daddy? Hey, cool, buddy. Got me a new boot. You know what it is. Yeah, look at you. Big stud looked you up. Oh, yeah, I've been listening to the line. You know, sometimes I'm killed to do here. See that one? You're inspiring love and Memphis for our community. I'm so glad. You're right. I'm killed here. I've been listening to my guy, Colleen. You know, people have paid right in the valve. And they're gonna do what they do. All right. All right, Big Daddy. We'll put you on the big. What's that?

400,000. And we can win again. That's the big. All this money. It can't even win a game. That's about 300 million, ain't it? Well, I'm guys, you know, I'll live mine over there. That's a lot of money. Little more than we're making Big Daddy. Little more than we are. I know that's right, man. All right, man. I got you going in. You're fine. Thank you. Are there great Big Daddy there from Memphis? Let's say hello to who do we have? Eany, meany, mindy, mall. Let's say hello to Halloween James in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hello, Halloween James. Hey, Ben, I'm ready to begin. Show every day and show you that. I want them to go to the ticket for 10. And I promise to give it a lot. You know, while I'm here with a lot, this is sent me a Randy Mars. Go, and football, Mikey Jersey. No! Oh, Mike. All right, go away. Thank you, Robert. No, no. Put them on hold. He wants to do factor fiction. You can do factor fiction. Can't win a golden ticket on factor fiction, though. Well, he didn't know that.

OK. He doesn't know that. Yeah. I, is this wonderful. So I woke up to a, let's get Mike the leprechaun. Are you there, Mike the leprechaun? Are you there? Mike the leprechaun? Hello, Mr. leprechaun guy. Yes, of course I'm here. Yes. How are you? So I woke up. I woke up. No. I woke up to a couple of messages. And people said I'm asleep, but they know I'm sleeping. So they know I'll check my phone when I wake up. So I was, you know, I was to say, when somebody dies, I know, because there's a lot of messages or something like that. So I got a lot of messages. But the one that stood out was about a former NFL legend ready for the catwalk. And we didn't talk about this the other day. It's gotten bigger. Has anyone seen the Bill Bella check? I guess this was like his coach's show in Chapel Hill. Anyone see the appearance of Bill Bella check? Have you seen that, Mike the leprechaun? No, but I'm not surprised with Joe Dander.

No, it's, Belichek was wearing his North Carolina gear. And it appeared he had a really large rack. Man boobs. Belichek with massive man boobs, which is wild. Yeah. And so my buddy, my buddy sent me the thing. And I was looking at some of the photos and stuff. And some people I used to work with, some women I used to work with in radio. And they were pointing out their theory. And I want to run this by, I think this is an acrytheri, is the problem that Belichek has is if his dating like a 25 year old, if she was a little older, she would have said, what are you doing? You can't wear that. But Belichek's, my response has always been, Belichek's always dressed like a slob. So would it really be different? Like he was dating older women until recently. And he still dressed like he was disheveled. So does it, you're going to really blame it on that? I don't know. Some people are. It's at least midnight, midnight crack so far,

I might say. We're past it. I would say, how? If he's at mid life, he's going to be 140. It's good for him. Yeah. 150, probably. How's the humidity in Los Angeles? Pretty good? No good? It's good now. No, no, the humidity, no humidity now. It's good. Solid. Have you mentioned Keelab Williams, 69 points? No. Let's see. I don't think I've talked, I don't talk sports. All right. Anyway, so poor, holler and jeans. I hope you got out of trouble with the Somalia lady and the judge with the Holy Water. Oh, is he still there? Good. Can we go back to James and see your James? Are you out of trouble with the... You said you were being attacked by a Somali woman, is that correct? It's up to one decision by a Somali woman, the sessions staff, whether it comes in court room, closing Keelab and yet thrown out of my house. And it's not my house. I'm on the state right here.

All right. All right. You're renting. I got you. All right. Thank you. Diego hello Poppy welcome. Hey, man. I'm right here in San Diego. Wow. A great show and you know, I'm ready for the mailbox. You just let me know I'm right here. I'm under the whole thing. Now everyone wants to. This is just started because they think I really the person. I did the mailbag with so we just decided to rotate you. Now everyone wants to let people love the mailbag. They can't do the mailbag. Just get rid of the show just in the mailbag. Everyone loves a freaking mailbag. Yeah, you should you should have me. I'm you know, your part is you should always have me on there. But look, I do want to talk about the game tonight. Thursday night football, the Buffalo bills and the lions. And I really love Josh. Josh Allen with the Buffalo bills. Linus for. Come on. Don't pick up bills. You're going to screw me. Don't do it. No, no, no, and I got a bonus one. Anytime touch sound. Josh Allen guy. It's the first all the stars are aligning.

How you know the sports or stress that. And the first game in the stadium. Josh Allen will score a test on debut. It's like, wow. What do you think? Okay. I got my swagger back. I think I got my father back. What was that? No, no. Oh, yeah, I went one and all on my pigs and people want to hear me. One and all. One and all. I don't think that's accurate. Who did you pick again? The Kansas City Chiefs. Did you? I don't know. I have to go back and check the tape. So now we're going to have people want more pigs. One minute. I'm going to be the one minute max. Well, so. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. There's one poppy in San Diego. That call was weird. This whole hour has been weird. What's going on? You got big daddy. And I love big daddy. He just, you know, didn't have much going on there. And then. I'm going to go back to the stadium. I'm going to go back to the stadium. I'm going to go back to the stadium. I'm going to go back to the stadium. I'm going to go back to the stadium. I'm going to go back to the stadium. You know, didn't have much going on there.

And then we went to the leprechaun. And that was a little odd. And then James, he was in there. And it's like last stuff going on. Let's try Brandon. In Kansas City. He loved this segment so much. He hung up. He gone. He gone. Well, just like the janitor, this story's been basking around. So Andy Reed admitted there was this weird play that chiefs ran the other night in the game Against the Broncos. And Andy Reed admitted that that play was something that came from a washed up Broadcaster Chris Burman. Had sent him that play and Andy Reed ran the play and everyone got all excited about this. They're like, oh my god, it is pretty cool. It is pretty cool that Andy Reed will just take a play from someone. And the reason it's cool is a lot of these guys are so arrogant. There's such schmucks that they don't want.

They think everyone else is below them and they don't want anything to do with the public. And they know better than you and all that. Andy Reed though has been a guy that he's done this before. It's not the first time he said that Chris Burman sent him that play that they ran. Now if you did not see the play, it's two quarterbacks at the same time. Late in the game there, Patrick Mahomes, he lined up with back up quarterback Justin Fields beside him. And then the play they had several different options on the play. Fields moved left as he might take the ball and all that. Mahomes flipped a short forward pass to Kenneth Walker. And then that was a two yard touchdown play. But Andy Reed said he got that from Burman. It's an old NFL play that was run back in like the 1930s or something like that.

And it's not the first time I remember we talked about this a while back. Andy Reed took a play from a janitor. I think he was with Green Bay at the time or Philadelphia. Some guy was a janitor. I forget all the specifics, spent a few years. But he took a play from a janitor. So that particular play that the latest one was from an NFL game in 1936. And this is actually a good idea. And so all these NFL teams spend a lot of money hiring the top Ivy League executives. I watched that Sean McVeigh thing they had on 60 minutes. I got a link to it on the internet. And so I watched it. And they were the Rams did a humble brag in there. They had some lady who had graduated from Stanford who was in charge of analytics. And it made me want to puken my mouth. What you should be doing is hiring somebody to go watch old tapes of NFL games and just take stuff, repurpose stuff from 60 years ago. And all that. And see, see, find some stuff and make it new again.

Stuff that's been tossed to the side of the road. Why not? Who says no? It is the Ben Mallor Show.
