This is an I Heart Podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his
motorcycle.
I choose option B. I'm Julie Pinero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space
where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Listen to Solita on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
I survived nine months in captivity and I've spent my life exploring how other people
survive what should have destroyed them.
I'm Elizabeth Smart and these are the survivor files.
Every week I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable, abducted, stalked, controlled
and nearly silenced.
These are stories about what it takes to make it out alive.

Hey, this is Hayes Davenport and Sean Clements.
We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook.
Each week we talk to someone in show business and try to help them with their careers and
see what they have to offer us.
Everyone has a good time and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do
our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, Adam Scott, Danny McBride, Ben Stillert
and a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get
your podcasts.
Why are you dealing with listening to Armstrong and getting on demand?
We're not boring.
A lot of news is boring and tedious and depressing and makes you angry.
You don't want to live your life like that.
Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong.
He's Joe Getty.
We're Armstrong and Getty.
We try to bring you the truth and help you figure out this crazy modern world.
About something about a comedic tone.
What?
We have a winner?
Yes.
Listen to Armstrong and Getty on demand on the I Heart Radio app.

The entire draft room groans because you just took the guy they wanted.
There's no better feeling than crushing your fantasy football league.
I'm JJ Zacharyson, host of the award-winning Late Round Podcasts.
Before your draft, our players to target and players to avoid episodes tell you exactly
who to circle and who to cross off.

Boom goes to the dynamite.
It's our number three hour number three.
And here we go on the Ben Mowler Show on this Thursday, September 3rd, the last Thursday
without NFL football for many, many months.
But here in our number three, how seriously should it majorly baseball fans take a player
saying that they'll put school teachers out on the field in 2027 before the players
accept the salary cap?
Of course, the anonymous major league baseball player saying that also should Halo fans
be worried about Stan Cronkies plans to build a new big A, a $2.5 billion baseball stadium.
And now that influencers have interrupted a match, isn't that exactly what the US open
tennis people deserve after deliberately loosening fan restrictions for the influencer invasion
that invasive species.
We'll talk about all that.
Also ask Ben, yeah, we got that as well.
It's coming your way right now.
Here it is.
Settle in my friend.
It's our number three.
We'll do the Malar Mumble.
A little labor danger.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
Welcome in the beginning of another hour of the Ben Malar show.
We are in the air.
Every where the monarchy, the Malar monarchy.
As we get hooked on the spoken word, love the spoken word, even though there's cameras in here.
We still love the spoken word coast to coast, border to border and beyond on the vast
and markedly powerful microphones of FSR emanating lives from the warmer.

I see Jerry in road.
I look concerned about the Red Sox now.
They've leveled off and we've got even the Yankee fan Jill from Minnesota all all chimed
in there and they all agree every one of them agrees that what they need in their life
right now is some bull.
It is time to get your financial portfolio game ready.

Slash disclosures from your friendly old wind bag and our lead this hour is from the CBA
talk always fun always fun that CBA talk thing always compelling talk radio in less is
not I also want to you know we have ask Ben coming up so if you want to use your hashtag
ask Ben get those questions and we'll have that coming up later in the hour our lead though
from the front lines of the labor battle royale and major league baseball players bracing
for a very ugly labor situation that will likely take at least some if not all of the 20
27 season away the current CBA expires after the world series if you have not heard the
latest perhaps not the biggest flashpoint there's a very wordy story that came out on the
small little cable channel that has a website out of Bristol Connecticut so they had a story
out they talked about the situation as it is today the owners pushing for a salary cap
and the players and we're not going to do it and it's competitive balance the owners are
saying well we have a salary cap will have competitive balance like what what why do you care
about that as a fan the players don't even care or the owners don't care about competitive
balance either because you could have competitive balance right now they just they're just not
motivated to do it they're lazy rich guys who lazy have video at 11 so in a very worthy story
very lengthy story featuring my favorite topic in all of sports the anonymous coach the anonymous
player in this case it was an anonymous player who gave what we call the money quote what is the
money quote the money quote one supposedly highly paid highly paid national league in fielder
national league in fielder gave this money quote said here it is give you the quote I'm not going
to add anything here's the quote get ready to see a bunch of school teachers and what not out
there because we're not playing if there's a salary cap close quote now several other players also
predicted a very lengthy lockout and that is a good jumping up points will let us discuss the
question how seriously should major league baseball fans take a player saying that they'll put school
teachers out on the field in 2027 before accepting a salary cap so I've got Howard Stern Jay Z and
potato salad and we'll put all of these things together and we are going to have better days we're
gonna have better days absolutely all right so first of all this is red meat rhetoric is what this
is that that's what both sides are cranking up the propaganda machine and what are they trying to
win they're trying to win the hearts minds and souls of you right that's what this is all about you
are the prize you this is the battlefield the court of public opinion they're worried about you
now the owners know that just by saying hey we want to make things more affordable and we can pedal
this competitive balance fairy tale the owners know that the customer is I hate to say it gullible
right that most fans are low information fans and they buy it they buy it they almost always buy it
oh yeah that makes sense of course I don't recall many fans saying that they want to cap on how
much they can make but yet they don't mind the cap on the players sorry so the owners at this
point they might as well bring back the the ghost of Howard Stern I don't know who kidnapped Howard
Stern but he used to be good Howard Stern's superhero fart man and put in a salary cap and both
just like that 20 years of terrible stewardship horrific ownership disappears like a fart in a
windstorm it's just got now spoiler alert spoiler alert a cap just guarantees larger profit margins
while at the same time it's a double double situation double your fun double your pleasure it also
rewards the tightwads running the pirates in the a's in the Cincinnati Reds and the royals in the
Marlin now we have tangible proof that you don't need a salary cap to put a good team on the field in
fact a top-level team on the field what is your evidence mr. Mallorca judge here's my evidence
uh exhibit a would be the Milwaukee Brewers that's exhibit a okay so that's exhibit what about
exhibit be well exhibit be thanks for asking that would be the Tampa Bay race these teams have already
proven you don't have to spend three hundred million dollars you don't have to have a top five pay
roll to be a good team these are the top two teams in baseball this season the Milwaukee Brewers and
Tampa not the Dodgers not the Yankees not the match not the Atlanta Braves as we're doing this
Tampa Bay in Milwaukee are the top two teams in professional baseball the payrolls of these teams
are 19th and 23rd they're not even in the top 10 top 15 and one of them is even in the top 20 that's
it so spare me the Jerry Lewis poverty telephone I don't need it baseball does not need capology it needs
a stupidity cap is what it needs on bad owners and if you have some dead wood you cut out the dead
wood baseball they don't get rid of these bad owners instead we have a staring contest right now
between the robber barons of baseball and the millionaire jocks everyone's preparing for armageddon
they've all got their bomb shelters and their water and their canned foods and they're ready to go
now eventually inevitably someone is going to blink and we will see if the players actually have
the stomach to miss paychecks and how many paychecks and the rhetoric will become real the
the rubber will meet the road and then happens now secondly to Anaheim we go panic at the big A
stand crunchy who spent billions and billions who buy the halos and the story came out that he plans
to build a 2.5 billion dollar ballpark for the angels he agreed to buy the franchise at
least the majority interest from Arty marino who will still work as poltergeist to haunt the angel
franchise the proposed ballpark would replace angel stadium right angels played an Anaheim for
many generations but they're looking for a new home and they they play there since 1966 it's been a
minute it certainly has now stand crunchy is worth an estimated 24.3 billion which would make him
once this deal is approved the richest owner in all of baseball take that Steve Cohen of the New
York Mets as Stan Kronke will be the king of deep pockets in baseball the angels have not reached
the playoffs let's see if you're 17 years old you don't remember that it's been 17 years
2009 I was barely alive in 2009 and that's the last time that's when I got whacked from the company
here and that was in 2009 that was it it was a January 20th event particular year and I already
come back to the company I came back in sometime in August and that was that was about the time the
you know the baseball season dog days of the season turning the corner and all that so there we
guys now despite all of the money that Stan Kronke has and this is a wish that many angel fans
had been hoping for it's come true despite all that there is a large group of paranoid halo
fans who are already freaking out oh no boom they're gonna move the age of the stadium what are they
gonna move it's oh my god all right so the question should the halo fans be worried about Stan Kronke's
plan to leave the big A and build a new big A somewhere else so spare me the hand ringing on this
one Stan Kronke is a real estate shark who collects sports teams like I collect refrigerator magnets
do you understand so this is not some mom and pop hey seed owner who wanders around home depot asking
the person in the lumber department hey where where can I get those build your own stadium kits oh
okay they're over there on aisle seven okay well I'll go over to aisle seven thank you but this guy
built the Taj Mahal of NFL stadiums the palace so-fi stadium in the hood in Inglewood and he
built it with pretty much his own money right obviously upgraded some roads and whatnot but it was
mostly Stan Kronke just saying hey I got I got so much money and I can't be buried with it I can't
take it with me to the other side across the pearly gates I'm stuck with this money I got to spend
the money so this is a guy that can spend what four billion dollars on a baseball team and then
say you know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna toss in 2.5 billion on a ballpark like their extra
sprinkles on a baskin robin sunday and as Jay Z saying back in the day the angel fans you got 99
problems with your roster but Stan Kronke wanting a shiny new palace of a ballpark is not one of
you survived Arty Marino the circus that that was and to me the big A's fine you don't have to leave
there however to make more money you have to have more luxury boxes and you have to have the new
bells and whistles and all that stuff but the big A Arty Marino took care of it to a point
that's a fine place to go and watch a game been to many games over the years there for Stan
Kronke though it's like an AOL free trial CD I don't need that I would I need that well those
wherever you were back in the but yeah it's not and not today we don't need them and and winning
baseball of course became endangered under Arty Marino now you got daddy war bucks showing up
offering this royal palace and there are people complaint they're not gonna move where they
gonna move the team like well you're gonna go back to Oakland but you understand baseball
wanted to add expansion teams a number of years ago they can't even find enough markets for
the expansion teams so what market is dying to to put up a welcome mat for Stan Kronke you know he's
gonna keep the team now will they stay in Orange County you know who know there's all kinds of
rumors they might move out of Anaheim move to Irvine or something like that or for years
people live out the San Fernando Valley where our headquarters are in Sherman Oaks have said why not
put a team there because there's nothing to do in the San Fernando Valley there's plenty of
option the angels could move to Long Beach build a beautiful ballpark right on Pacific Ocean over
there in your rainbow harbor something along those lines where they could build a new development
somewhere there's plenty of options and the thing about Kronke is he can put it anywhere because he's
got he's got any kind you know you can buy anything you can buy the world no it meanwhile
final thought be rare and appropriate rare and appropriate
mention of test by the way just to put the ball in that angel fence should be dancing naked
in the streets instead they're complaining about oh he's gonna put a stadium somewhere oh my god
all right uh final thought to tennis a group of social media influencers this is a follow-up to a
previous mal or monologue have now disrupted a match at the US open that's right Naomi Osaka who
of course if you remember there was a Netflix documentary which helped get some publicity for
the show involving her and some others anyway the opening round of the US open and this was the
other night the the match was delayed briefly by an impromptu photo shoot that I'm not making this
up it took place in a hospitality suite at the legendary Arthur Ashe stadium now the video
showed the spectators posing for pictures and using the bright portable lights you know those
ring light things while Osaka was preparing for a serve and the chair umpire this dude pause play
and called out the people on the who doing the the photo shoot they're on the microphone saying
guys even though it was women guys please in the suite behind me please take your seat another video
appear to show US open staff helping with said photo shoot during the match during match play all right
question now that the influencers have interrupted a match isn't this exactly isn't this exactly what
the US open deserves after deliberately loosening fan restrictions and encouraging the influencers
thinking that tennis had become an old man's game and they needed young people to get into tennis and
the only way to convince young people because they have no other way to do it is to get young people
on social media because they're easily manipulated all right so to answer the question is this not what
the US open deserves I am nodding my head yes like a bobble head Betty the bobble head I'm nodding my
head yes the US open they twisted the rules around they called it I think it was called the free fan
or fan free movement I think is what they called it the fan free movement which it's all things
a bunch of nonsense right they they really went on they tried to grab as much social media they wanted
the circus they said I want that social media circus and now it's wandering on to center court it
is an invasive species you cannot get rid of it stop calling these people influencers who exactly
of the influencing that's the rub on this right it's kind of like it's kind of like porn stars there's
only a few really famous porn stars the rest are just actors you know they're just uh sorry Lucky Tony
I know Lucky Tony's bummed out by that but who are the influencing they're entitled attention seekers
and they got ring whites and little narcissistic uh turdburgers and a lot of these people confuse
creating content with having talent there is a difference between creating content and having
talent anyone can get a social media account because they're free and you are the product if
something is free you are the product like that and so they collect the data and all that stuff
on you and that's how that works and you don't have to have talent the US open welcomed the skunk
to the garden party they say come on in skunk okay I'll come in I'm a nice skunk oh good you're a nice
skunk welcome to the garden party and now everyone shocked that the potato salad smells a little funky
why wonder who could have done that could it be I don't know the skunk could that have been the
anyway so uh and I almost soccer is trying to win the grand slam match that wish I guess she did
end up winning there and the human pop-up ads they're staging with a glamour shot behind the
baseline there at the US open just chefs kiss uh yeah absolutely yep that's the deal with the devil
you made you prioritized engagement farming over just having the normal proper etiquette and
all that and I'm pretty sure a lot of these influencers or again attention seeking turd burgers could
not tell you the difference between a tennis ball and a golf ball and a racquet ball if you
line them all up it said okay which ones the golf ball which ones the tennis ball which ones the
racquet ball they they wouldn't get it right they they would not and so they they US open one and buzz
they wanted eyeballs they wanted viral moments so congratulations you got those just don't clutch
your pearls you tennis people you invited these these skunks to treat Arthur Ashtadium like
their personal contact uh content studio what they're doing they're doing this this is their content
studio so there you go it is the Ben Mallor Show if you would like to be part of this coming up

jeannie buff or portion of the of the liquors i can either confirm nor deny uh no comments did
they do not know comments did you see the Justin Tucker could be back in the NFL soon uh-huh yeah
he worked out for the jets yesterday out by that 36 years old hadn't played in the NFL since
2024 is released by the Ravens in May of last year and spent all 13 years in Baltimore
being pestered by my buddy sports with Coleman and he was accused by not one not two not three not
four not five uh 16 massage therapists at eight different Baltimore area spies and wellness
centers of um getting some extra work done at the missus yeah which it was people seem to think
happens all it's yeah well exactly yeah yeah he had a pulled groin either he had a pulled groin
or he wanted a pulled groin i don't know yeah he has he has yes he did all right ribbiting any
other dad jokes before we move on um i only do one a day but one a day all right all right
i know i gotta i gotta go you're out of material you were not expecting this much airtime you were
not prepared for this level of airtime and we must move on we must move on so if you're all
worked up into a ladder about the the money in sports and all this stuff oh my god money money
oh we need a salary cap i just just chill out i did get a message i got to find it here
from one of our guys who's an angel fan and he was upset that i'm anti-soulry cap fat daddy fat
daddy says big Ben you forget the salary cap gets rid of those weasel agents and deferred payments
a stan cronkey guy he's got to make his billion somehow so there goes the beer prices wait
the beer prices will go up and all that you can't have both you can't have a good team and
cheap beer you gotta pick one would you rather have a good team that you're not embarrassed to
wear the hat and a logo or would you rather have cheap beer now arty marino argued the angel
fans would rather have cheap food and that would be that as far as the salary cap it doesn't get
rid of agents it gets rid of the middle class of baseball you have mostly players making
the minimum or close to the minimum and then you know the the top guys are still gonna get paid
they'll just be fewer top guys on each team they'll be that and the deferred payments
like what's wrong with that i would love to get deferred if they offered me deferred payment when
i was younger i would have absolutely taken deferred payments that would have been the greatest
thing are you kidding me deferred payments my god be great like wind on the lottery you get paid
out every year you don't have to worry about it and these guys don't work anyway i want to get
to about forty that's it imagine that you work half the year till you're forty and then you
just get paid ff you money for the rest of your life well the premier league spingab ff you money
i read the day of now spent a record 4.7 billion during the summer transfer portal
11% higher than last year's record and more than triple the spending from five years ago the
the amount of money the robberbearance the oligarchs are spending his next level manchester city
led the feeding frenzy and they became the first team ever to exceed six hundred million dollars
in one window and you people complain about the dodgers and the the teams the rams and these
teams spending a lot of money six hundred million one window and that the total was six hundred eighteen
million that is insane abs and so the premier league which is popular not here but elsewhere not in
America but terry and england i guess like some of those guests but my god the amount of revenue that
they're making is insane insane and they're hoping the mls is hoping to get the leftovers they want
the leftovers it is the bedmallow show we've got ask ban your questions and our answers is called
ask then keep the questions coming in we'll get to that and we will do it next be sure to catch

you know bany mcbride fine yeah saw this fragile masculinity exuding i could smell it walking
on the hallway to be honest with me as i was like is that what i was exactly no fragile masculinity
