Yeah, I just don't remember that much of it. It's pretty fun. Pacific scenes. Yeah, it was fun. And he was ripping the hair off of him. Oh, yeah, he was going crazy then. You know the one time when Kevin Hart comes in? Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Kevin Hart came in. Yeah, I do remember that. And which, by the way, shows how short Kevin Hart is. That's a pretty, he's a pretty small dude. He's pretty small dude. I'm talking like, like fighting to be in five foot, small dude. Got to be like five, one, five, two, no, he's not Kevin Hart. Five three. He's bigger than that.

6:14No, I don't know that he is. Dude, he's pretty tiny. I don't know that. I don't know. It's pretty tiny. It is a funny scene though, because that dude is, is, is pretty funny. The guy that he had that exchange with. I don't know his name, but he's five foot, five inches, really? Then they probably given him three inches. Could bathe in a compliment. I don't, I don't know that we can play this scene because I think there's a few few words that are used. A few of that we, you know, can't say, well, before you make, maybe we could save it. Yeah. But I could say it. Yeah. You're right. And you can't, and you can't. And I don't even time. It's an all time scene though. I'm telling you. Um, Rami Malko, is that yeah, that's something like that. Yeah. He's a, that's a funny dude, bro. Like on the sneak, good actor, dude.

7:16Yeah. Yeah, he's a good actor. Good movie. Well, I do know this. It is two pros in a cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio. It's a live airing tin Brady Quinn Jonas. So a lot of conversation following the NFL combine. We opened up the show, uh, starting with the situation. I want to ask a question, but I want to interrupt you. Uh, well, yeah. No, I mean, we started off, uh, you know, talking about an early on, just the Adam Shafter, the back and forth about whether or not, you know, 40 times or accurate. When it came to Carnell Tate of Ohio State at wide receiver, some official times that were out yet, Shafter came out and pointed out that he had ran, uh, differently and that there were better times and what reported. Uh, we can argue and disagree about that.

8:18Here's what we can't disagree with. It was the fastest combine in NFL history. The average 40 yard dash times were faster than ever in seven of the eight position groups, uh, defensive backs, average 4.44 wide receivers, 4.44, running backs, 4.45, uh, linebackers, four, five, five tight ends at four, six, three, and then even the offensive lineman, uh, average 5.1, fastest ever. So we got a bunch of track athletes out there. All right, can I, can I ask this question when, when you went to the, the combine queue, do you, do you recall how you did the, I mean, I, I know you didn't compete, but do you recall how the rules were for vertical jumps? Like, uh, I don't, I know what you're talking about though, because I know there's some different ways guys try to kind of scheme up with their, there's a lot of

9:20yeah, and there's little things like even with the 40, I was like, in my mind, like, like, they're not, are they setting is like, I know they would make you set. You were not at like, like anything remotely close to a rolling start. They would flag like, they would make you start over and run it again. I feel like the starts are a little different and, and the 40, maybe it, I could be embellishing. I could be off, but I do think I recall and I was asking Plexico about this. When you do the, when you did the vertical one, we were coming out, your hills had to be on the ground. You had to jump from a flat footed position. I do believe that because they were basing, they were basing your 40 off of your reach and you're in all of your height. And just like when you, you took your height, you had to keep like, you had to put your hills, your hills have to be like firmly on the ground.

10:22Guys would try to lift their hills up, but your hills had to be on the ground. They raised your arm up. They take your height, but you also were measuring the reach so that you could get an accurate, accurate readout of the vertical. I was watching the way these kids were, or these guys were doing their verticals. They were allowed to lift their hills off the ground. Just an interesting observation, but it's like they're, they're talking about numbers that are numbers that have never been posted before and this, that and the other and I was wondering like, I know they say bigger, stronger, faster, but I don't necessarily subscribe to that. I really don't. I think that guys have always been big. I think guys have always been fast. I mean, you look at guys like Jim Brown or Bo Jackson, like guys have always been big and fast, like Lawrence Taylor, hell, myself, guys have always been super athletic. So that'd be $10. That's $10. All right. I'll take that. That's 10 dollars. I mean, I did run a 10 six times. The most casual soul.

11:24I did run a 10 six hundred, yeah. Love artist had to be two fives while he was talking. He was happening, but they, I do believe that they've now allowed the guys to lift their heels off the ground to do their vertical jump. And so this is one of the interesting things is like, if you go to the combine, usually you have a really, really good understanding of what the technique they're going to force you to use. All these training facilities like know that that's one of the things about if you don't train at the, or you don't perform at the combine and you do it at your pro day, you don't know because it's someone who's assigned to it. Who's going to do it? It's not always a strength coach, but the school. Sometimes it's actually like a scout or someone who's there who's going to check and kind of verify it and keep track of everything. So that's the interesting thing about choosing to work out the combine versus pro day and the differences between the two. Could some of be the change in technique, maybe? I mean, I also think, you know, as I've said this about young quarterbacks that

12:26come into league, you know, when we first, like when I was getting into college and even getting the NFL, there were fundamental things, whether it was footwork, throwing motion, you know, grip, also, it's a little things. They were always trying to tweak and work on because things weren't as advanced at a younger level, like they are today. Where guys come into the NFL, they come into the league. A lot of guys are doing many of the mechanics that, you know, Tom House and a lot of the guys out there in Cali, 3D QB that they've been, you know, coaching for almost, you know, a couple of decades now. All that stuff is becoming much more mainstream. And because of that, now you see guys who, when they go into college, they go in the NFL, their three motions are, you know, pretty flawless for the most part. There's not many guys you watch and go, I need to clean some stuff up. I mean, Josh Allen's one of the, the last ones I can really recall that made a pretty dramatic transformation with the way he used to throw Wyoming towards how, you know, compared to how he throws now. So I would say it's somewhat that like I think guys are more accustomed to

13:27testing. They're getting better at testing. The training facilities, they're going to or preparing them better for these sorts of things. So I think there's all sorts of elements like that. I do think that today's athlete is a better athlete because they've got more advanced nutrition and science and technology around how they perform. So I think there's elements of all that that play a role in this. I'll go back to this though. I also think it is kind of a sign of, hey, we want guys to come here because if there's a notion that this isn't a fast turf guys are going to run fast. I'm not going to show up and run here. You know what I'm saying? Like that to me is one of the biggest concerns that an agent and a player has. And probably even more so the agent because the agents hired to give advice to the player as far as what is best for them. And if they're, if they think that a guy can go run fast on that turf, they're going to tell him to go to the, go to the combine, go run a fast 40. You don't have to run one again. And they don't feel it's a fast turf. They'll say do it at, do it at your pro day, wait until then you have more time to

14:30prepare, more time to recover from the season, more time to work on that technique. And then you'll be able to go perform well there. I also like the, I also like the, you know, a bar showing me the, the vertical. Yeah, he is different. Yeah, coming off the ground. Yeah, I also was scared jump to what? What's the mouse garage vertical was like a 42 something like that? That was a flat footed vertical. Just so people are clear on this. If you want to know, like, oh, like, listen, take nothing away from what Sonny Stiles did. And he's a hooper too. So you know, they know how to jump. But mouse gear doing what he did from a flat footed stance is way all together different than somebody boasting and bragging 43 and 44 and 45 inch verticals when you're able to take your heels off of the ground. I'm just saying, I'm just, it was just an interesting observation.

15:30I just, we just confirmed it just now. It's a, it's a four, it's a four day track and field event. It doesn't feel like football. I'll just, if anybody who's paying attention to just, it's just a small, small details that make big differences sometimes. You know what I mean? Like, I understand what you're saying, but like Eli Stowers, I think believe jumped the highest vertical of anyone with a combine. Okay. He won the Texas 6A high jump. No, I get jumped seven foot, which I don't, I don't know high jumping. I think it's a lot of, it's a lot of technique. But you got to be, you got to have hops to be able to, to go seven foot. He jumped 45 and a half. Yeah. What's his vertical? I'm just saying, if you look at it, there are little things that you're able to do that rules wise. It seems like they've relaxed a little bit on like, for instance, if, if they gave basketball players the same stipulations. So basketball players get to step into their vertical jump.

16:32That's why when they sit there and say, Oh, they, they jumped a 50 inch vertical of 55 inch vertical. Yes, because they're able to step into their, their vertical jump football. They make you stand in place, but now they're allowing you to take you, if you can load up by taking your heels off the ground, I don't only need to take one of my heels off because I'm a one footed jumper. So if I was able to take one heel up and go down before I go down to jump up, I can generate more force and more power to get higher. If I, if I'm forced to keep my feet flat on the ground and I have to go, I have to take off from flat footed. It's a much different, you got, it's a much different negotiating of being able to explode. And it matters like just so people know it does matter. I just showed you a party of you, you get a chance post miles, Garrett's post miles, Garrett's vertical and post sunny styles is vertical. And you'll clearly see miles, Garrett has to take off flat footed,

17:34which makes it way more phenomenal feet to jump into the forties from flat foot at stance versus being able to lift your heels off the ground and go into the ground and come off the ground. So if you've got a shifter passing a message along from an agent of a prospect to fluff his 40 yard time numbers and you've got giving them the ability to get some sort of an added benefit in some of these events by lifting your heels up off the ground like La Bar saying and then you've got the other, you know, yearly tradition of the player doesn't want to throw at the combine. He gets shamed for it by somebody in the media. Then basically, yeah, this, this all just is a, hey, if you play by our rules and you show up here, we're going to be kind to you. Okay. So then what, like what do we tell it's a TV event? Like it's a TV show. It's what it's turned into. So it's, it's always been a TV show.

18:36But I keep trying to get you people to understand that the relationship now between Disney or ESPN and the NFL has changed. We're like, this is now part of, you know, ESPN's property, if you will. You know, they've, ESPN's taken control of the NFL network, NFL Red Zone, distribution rights, the NFL fantasy operations and other league media assets. So this really integrates the NFL content, like very deeply the ESPN platforms. And I'm not saying they're the same company. They're not, but they're both invested together for the combine to be worthwhile to watch and follow and be a part of. So they're invested in this. It's why they need to make it appear and see them as if you come to the combine. You're going to be able to perform well. You know, they don't want there to be any hurdles that are involved. So whether it's the technique like Lovar is talking about in regards to the vertical jump,

19:39or it's the technique on a 40 or the track or the official time. I mean, whatever the case may be, it is important for ESPN now to make sure like this is an event that hits, like they want their investment to pay off in the NFL. And I think this is those numbers are higher than what they have been in the past in terms of performance with lend to maybe potentially creating that. Who's going to be suspect of it, right? Like, like, who's suspect of it, there were there's the able to be a checks and balances. It's not the agents, like they want this for their players. All the agents want that for the players, you know, it's not going to be the strength coaches who are around it because they're like, yeah, my guy career, look, I can put this guy up as a guy that I trained, you know, they're not going to blow the whistle on any of this. You know, the teams don't care all the way what anyone in the outside thinks anyway. Well, it's the scouts of the coaches so that they don't give a crap. You know, half of them are just there to show face. The other half are there just to get some numbers, but really for interviews and medical.

20:40So at the end of the day to Jonas's point, this is a TV made for TV product. It's lost a lot of, I think the seriousness that it used to have. And I don't think it grew to what the NFL thought it was going to grow to where they could have this offseason event, similar to how they've grown the NFL draft and make it into a, you know, made for TV event. It's been a little bit of an, I want to say an eyesore, but it hasn't taken off like they thought. And so by making it something where you can get a lot of guys to show up and now they're all doing flips. That's, that's sweet. That's cool. Like everyone can flip now, I guess. I don't know. What's that about, man? Somebody's got, I don't know. It's the, there's my culture. That's what it is. It's so, it's so, it's not football. It has taken over, it's taken over football. It's taken over football. Like offseason seven on seven, that's, that's seven on seven. They look like a bunch of cheerleaders out there. But when they start doing that, I'm like, this is, this is not football.

21:43It's that someone's going to, someone's eventually going to get her. But like they all look like they're cheerleaders out. That's what, I mean, it's, that's seven on seven. Like they've created like, like, like that stuff that they do out the pro bowl where you go jump into the pits of foam and stuff like that. And it's, it's seven on seven cultures, seven on seven flag football culture. That's been, it's, it's, it's a part of how the players do things at these types of events. That's, I mean, that's what it is. But again, it just, it just makes me think about like just even like pulling in that, that small observation. It just makes you wonder to Q's point. What are, like, it's one thing when the players are working to figure out, Mike Mimola, look them up, is one of the most well-known guys that was a, a combine cheat code, like, like one of the beginner, beginning founding fathers for, for runners,

22:44being able to manipulate how you test and how you grade out at the combine. Players are always constantly trying to figure out how to manipulate little things to be able to get bigger results at the combine. That's a players job to figure that out in its team. But when you now start to wonder, okay, are they relaxing things? Like, is there a little bit of a rolling start in these forties? Is there a little bit of manipulating this? And the verticals, is, are you allowed to do X and the shuttle run? When you start to look at some of the things that the league is relaxing on and potentially allowing to take place, now you got to ask yourself the question of, when you start running the whole narrative of how much better, when, to me, trying to create the views, trying to create the interest, and you're saying it because these athletes are so much better,

23:45I find that to be a tad bit misleading. I do. I find it a tad bit misleading because now the manipulation is not just the athlete trying to manipulate it to get better results. But it's the league trying to manipulate it to help them get better results. If you ask me, and that's that to me, that's that's worth noting. And looking at, when we, we watch these combines or listen to what it is, that's taking place. Maybe that's why guys want to do pro days versus do do the combine. Because of more relaxed, more, a more relaxed environment on the rules and how it's handled and stuff like that. I mean, that could be it. It's kind of similar to when Major League Baseball expanded the size of second base so that they would increase the number of steals. And when people try and compare, you know, today's numbers versus numbers in the past, like you have to take that into account. And that was a clear manipulation of a product to get, to make it more interesting.

24:50And it's, I get the approach, but I do think that needs to be discussed. That if they are, if they are doing things to manipulate the product, to make it more palpable to a viewer or a listener or whoever, I mean, that's like, that has to be part of the conversation. Like, that has to be part of the discussion of, so does it stop here? Like, if they're doing it with this, then where does it go? That's what, okay, so that's the point I'm getting at, right? What, like, what else is going on? Like, we're talking about information leaks, you know, what's being reported? What do you want the overarching narrative to be? What do you want the storylines to be coming out of here? Like, how do you want this to be perceived? Because, look, the NFL is real protective over the draft. Like, you can't, you know, protective over their brand. If you, if you release a, you know, a pick before they can, then next thing, you know, you get, you know, guys have gotten in trouble, reporters have gotten in trouble,

25:52and then on the outside, looking at it, you know. You get millions of dollars connected to that control. Think about it. So, ton of, there's a ton of that stake. And when you promise a lot, you got to deliver a lot. And that's what it comes down to. You got to continue to keep the people who are keeping your lights on and keeping your pocketbook filled up. You got to keep them happy. That's just how it works. There's nothing wrong with that. No shade in that. But as, as a pure fan, as a purist, or somebody who is a competitor, or whatever it may be, I think sometimes it's worth noting, paying attention to what that is, that's being done. That could ultimately alter what, what your thoughts, your opinions, and, and how you're, you're thinking of it, you know, how, how those things are potentially being manipulated. Did Garoppolo ever visit the one of them ranches? One of them deals? I don't know. No idea. We're wildly speculating because he went on a date with an adult film star. That's what it was. Jeremy Fowler, BSPN reported that, uh, Garoppi loves his guy and that there could be the potential of that happening, uh, him ending up in Arizona with the Cardinals, depending, you know, who knows what the hell is going to have him with kind of the

38:09Murray, but it does feel like at least that's a name to watch. Jimmy Garoppolo, uh, he's made a little over $150 million in his NFL career and is going to potentially make another stop with an NFC West team. And it might be those Arizona Cardinals. So what's wild about this is, um, he's a start of the games is 2023. So if that gives you any idea of where the quarterback market is at, whether that be free agency or not for veterans, or even this draft class, like, here's another example of that. Michael Floor has taken over his head coach for the Cardinals, views Garoppolo as his guy to come in. And also there's, uh, reports that the Rams would love to have Garoppolo back to be the backup to staffer this year. The Packers would love to have him the backup Jordan love. So he's good to get another opportunity. But for a guy who hasn't started in three years, and on, on top of that, I believe he had what one start that season,

39:12it was like a week 18 star versus Seattle played, played fine, played okay. But it's just, it goes to show you where they're all at. And I also think, you know, the importance of scheme fit, you know, for these coaches too, with who they're working with, like they understand how, how much that matters. So I, I just, I look at it and say, that might be what Michael Floor or what the report looks like for Arizona. It feels like that would be a setup to get to a point where you could draft a quarterback next year's draft. I'm not saying you're trying to tank, but I'm just saying, it feels like that, that would be the move you'd be making, though. Who's more likely to have a start next year or a successful season in starting the Sean Watson or Jimmy Garoppolo? Oh, man, wow, it's a good question. One started their last game in 2023, the other in 2024. I would say, I pass.

40:15Oh, no, you can't. I'll, I'll take, I'll take Watson. I mean, Watson, you know, is going to be on a team with a great defense. So he doesn't have to do that much. I just, I don't know what to expect out of the offense. I mean, they just traded for Howard at right tackle from the Texans. That trade just is going to go through to start a new league year. So they at least have a right tackle now, tight as Howard. I don't know, man, gosh. Wish there was a third option here. I mean, I honestly have a hard time believing Garoppolo would, would start and play. I think he's just there in any other team's capacity to be a backup or even Arizona kind of teach the offense. So you'd have to lean and say Watson because the money that you brought up earlier, it's too significant for him not to get the first shot. In Cleveland, like, you're paying them. So why not just playing there again?

41:16Here, here's the trap. If here is the trap, I don't even know Jimmy starts. I don't, okay, considering if, if all things given, both of them were to start. I look at Cleveland's roster and you got guys like in Joku who potentially could be something special still. He does, he does well. You got Judy who can be a prime time top tier weapon for you. Got an issue with drops though. Jarvis Lane, are you still there? No, I got Juckins and Juck Juckins in the back. There is a strong possibility that Deshan Watson could come back and be the player of the year. I'm calling it right here. He could come back and be the comeback player of the year
