And the premature reporting about the death of Cinderella might have been, well, premature. The premature reporting about the death of Cinderella might have been premature. She might be dead after all. She might be. There was a one. There was a one-day grant to get the hand out of the game. Oh, and we wanted her back. We wanted her back, but she did. We had the defibrillators on her. Jared was going mouth to mouth on her. What? Until it turned midnight. Yeah, and then you're just eating a pumpkin.

2:05Yeah. And we've got Arizona basketball on the sweet 16. Never a doubt. Never a doubt. Never a doubt. Good to be back. Good to be back. Yeah. Never a doubt. There was a lot of doubting going on yesterday. I can only imagine how Jared was gripping. Sam, you haven't been very emotional about this. Whenever we have had these conversations, you've been suspiciously silent. He's young and hasn't lived through the pain. That's a good point. That's a very good point. Tell me what he said last week. He is wearing his Arizona polo today. It did bring, did bring some air zone. I don't know where the stuff after they were. Yeah, right. That's right. Yeah. You predicted that, didn't you? No, I said, I like to wear the stuff after the things happen. Yeah. So I'm okay. The U of A polo. Unlike Jared who went back on your Friday. By the time you got to the sports bar, the game was done basically. That's actually true. It was the most sort of relaxed calm game I've ever watched in a tournament. By the time I got there, the score was like 20 to five. Yeah. Just like you want him. I've never got close. Yes, it was great. Yeah. It was wonderful. They're bludgeoned them. Yeah. Well, the second half yesterday, I know he had his grip on it.

Even though they were playing without Dylan Brooks, Mark Williams, Roy Sonil, Grayson Allen, Haywood Heismith, and Amir coffee. Fortieth win of the year. And the suns will get a day to prepare before a visit from the Denver Nuggets tomorrow night. Big game. I think. It could be. If you win it, it might be. Yeah. If you lose, no big deal. Yeah. If you win, it might be a big game. Right. Speaking of those nuggets, they got past Portland 128, 112 on the strength of another. Nicole the Yoke, it's triple double. He had 22, 14 and 14. And Minnesota got a big win. They beat the Celtics in Boston 102, 92.

5:06Those results with the suns win mixed in. Mean Phoenix still trailing Houston, Denver and Minnesota by four games with 10 left to play. So looking like number seven locked in, but you never know. Look at Dodge itch received his 16th technical foul Saturday night. In the Lakers win over Orlando, but Sunday, the league rescinded that technical, meaning Dodge itch will be available for LA and tonight's big game against the Detroit Pistons. And they are playing incredibly well the Lakers. They've discovered defense. Imagine that. I know. Tommy Lloyd's Arizona Wildcats threw to the sweet 16, 78, 66 win. Over Utah, state, Jaden Bradley had 18 to lead you of Abrade and Burys 16, co-apete 14. Wildcats will face the Arkansas razor backs in the sweet 16, Thursday night in San Jose. That game will tip off at 6.45. In other field of 32 results from Sunday, Purdue beat Miami 79, 69. Iowa State without its best player, Joshua Jefferson pounded Kentucky 82, 63.

6:09St. John's a last second layup from Dylan Darling and they up in Kansas 67, 65. After the J-hawks had stormed back, Tennessee Rocky topped Virginia 79, 72. Ninth seeded Iowa shock defending champion Florida 73, 72. An Alvaro Fulgaris is three pointer with four and a half seconds to go. Yukon Breeze passed UCLA by 16 and Alabama Kerbstomp Texas Tech 90 to 65. Eight other teams punched their tickets to the sweet 16 on Saturday, including a couple of one seeds. Michigan routed St. Louis 95, 72 and Duke ripped TCU 81, 58 Houston, Michigan State, Illinois, Nebraska, Arkansas, and 11th seeded Texas, all moving on. Texas is the closest thing we have to a Cinderella. How about it? No mid majors left in the sweet 16. Not a one. D-backs pounded the Padres 11-1 in their final cactus league game of the spring. Gabby Moreno had three hits, including two solo home runs in the round.

7:10Jorge Barossa, Ildemaro Vargas, also homered for Arizona. D-backs in their final ramp up to the season now with two exhibition games against Cleveland at Chasefield tonight and tomorrow. Tonight's game gets rolling at 640 and you can hear it on Arizona Sports 98-7 in the Arizona Sports App, beginning with pre-game coverage at 6. D-backs also continued pairing down their roster ahead of Thursday season opener. They option left-hander Philip Abner to triple a Reno, reassign catcher, Arama Scarsia, and infielder Jacob Amaya to minor league camp. And according to reports, the team informed right-handed relievers Joe Ross and Jonathan Loisaca that they have made the team and will have their contracts purchased. Hmm, which begs the question, who's going to be the left-handers in the bullpen? Yeah, well, I'll order that later. Yeah, right. And Matt Fitzpatrick fired a final round 368 to win the Valsbar Classic in Palm Harbor, Florida. Sounds beautiful, doesn't it?

8:11Yeah, good for him after all the grief he took at the players. Good for him. And Sammy was right, the Valsbar might be the most irrelevant PGA to her stop on the entire calendar. Oh, no, that's not the most. What's the most? I mean, the Valero Texas Open the week before the Masters is pretty is pretty bad. That's a good point. Uh, Fitzpatrick, a one shot win over David Lipski, third PGA Tour win for the former US Open champ in his first since April of 2023. Boom, there you go. John Bloom will the final call. Sun's radio network last night. Sun's, uh, man, five games seem like a really long time, longest losing streak of the season.

10:14A streak that was started by the Toronto Raptors and the sons were able to end that losing streak against that same Toronto Raptors team. Yeah. Make no mistake about it. That didn't look like the same Toronto Raptors team. That was a puzzling performance by them last night. I think, well, I think that, but I also think that the sons were wearing that five game losing streak last night in it. And I think that was the difference. That's what propelled them, uh, to play with the kind of locked in intensity. They played last night. The ball moved in the defense held. That's the easiest way to kind of summarize what we saw last night. Yeah. And they were, and that bled into other areas of the game. We've seen, you know, the five game losing streak was defined in so many ways. And the level of pattern in those games was amazing because the sons would get off to a good start, play a good first quarter. And then everything would just start to dwindle by the end of the game, unable to put the ball in the hole. That didn't happen last night. I think what you said about defense and moving the, moving the basketball in the offensive end, really kind of fueled a full 48 men.

11:20Well, listen, I think you got a much better version of Devon Booker, who was absolutely atrocious in the previous game. You got an efficient Jalen Green, who made more than 50% of his field goals last night. Then you got three really good contributions off the bench. Ryan Dunn in 27 minutes, 27 minutes for Ryan Dunn. He had 12 points and a, and a great put back dunk that he is prone to do. And you got seven rebounds each from her sheer Fleming and C'mon Mallow Watch. So you got some good stuff from the rooks. You got some good stuff from Ryan Dunn. You got quality stuff from the starters. And, and you had an, a rare night that, like you said, a very good beginning to the game, which has not been uncommon, was able to be sustained. Yeah. Either they kind of put it to him again in the third quarter. And the thing just kind of rolled to a, to a, a nice conclusion. Yeah. So look, I, I thought after we watched this team against Milwaukee, a game that astounded me that they lost, even with their injuries. Um, I, I thought last night reinstored a little bit of hope for people.

12:22Yeah, here was Jordan not talking about Devon Booker's role last night in the win over Toronto. First off, how he's able to respond after, um, I want to back the bag. Obviously, body not feeling great. He's our leader for a reason because of what he does on a day-to-day basis. He led in his own way, Colin led in his own way, also led in his own way. They felt it. They felt it last night. They were, they were determined to not let it happen tonight. Um, that mentality goes a long way. Yeah. And that mentality needs to happen more often. But yeah, I mean, the, the tease of this whole discussion was the weird weekend. And you mentioned it. You use the word atrocious to describe Devon Booker. It was a very perplexing performance from Devon Booker. There was a ton of speculation after the game on Saturday, just around the arena and talking to people. And then even Sunday before the game that Devon Booker's dealing with something, something physical. Somebody that suggested maybe he had the flu. I don't know if that's the case. You go back to the last game in San Antonio before the Milwaukee game.

13:24That weird ending where he stepped on the foot of the air and Fox was that bothering him. He wasn't on the injury report. But man, he did not look, he looked like a Devon Booker imposter on Saturday. It did. It did. And to the point where I think even normally sane sons fans were getting a little bit out of their minds. And a lot of that was happening over the weekend. The son's fan base says, man, are they all over the map? It's an emotional bus. Yes, it is. Um, yeah, it wasn't so much the four of 17. But I think you and I independently noted the same thing, just the passing up of shots. When a, when a, when a gifted score like Devon Booker is passing up good looks, you know something's not right with them. Yeah. Between the, between the years physically, psychologically, something is a little bit off. But couple that with passing up of shots that he is normally very good at getting slash making. And that is that move where he gets on the dribble and gets to the left or the right elbow with a defender on his hip.

14:24He did that four or five times and then ended up passing the ball to other teammates during a real offensive drought for the sons. This is not a period of, of, of sons basketball that's going to be lauded for a great offense in this, in this time where they're so in. No, no, no. And then when the game was close in the fourth quarter, Devon Booker tapped back into being Devon Booker got aggressive. But by that time, I don't know how much gas was left in the game. It was, it was, I think the Milwaukee loss. And I hate to diminish what they did last night, because I thought they played very well last night. The Milwaukee lost is the latest candidate for the worst loss of the game with six players from their rotation out. But Milwaukee came in with really nothing to play for. Yeah. And a lot of players out themselves. A lot of players, including their best player out himself in Yannis. And that was, that was a head scratch. It mind boggling to me. So, so here we are with the Phoenix sons at 40 wins. It looks to me like they're going to get the seven seed.

15:26Looks to everybody. It's, it's not an observation unique to me. But the way this thing is, is cracking and falling right now. There are four games behind Minnesota. Like you pointed out, a big win on the road last night yesterday. I think that in the case of the Sons, when you're looking at what's ahead of them now, I think the best hope is that the Clippers don't get the eight seed. I think, I think the idea of Sons fans and this game against the nuggets might change the way we feel if they beat Denver. But, but I think right now, Sons fans need to focus on, okay, this basketball team needs to get whole. You need to get everybody back and back in rhythm. Well, by the time we get to the play and then when you get to the play and it would be really nice to me if the Clippers do not have the eight seed because even if you're hosting the Clippers, when the Clippers have been right over the back half of the season, they've been among the best teams in basketball. I don't want to lose the seven eight game and then have to win to play Oklahoma City in a best of seven.

16:27No, that would, that would be bad. Yeah, that would be bad. So let's hope the Clippers have some Clipper-like moments and fall to the nine because then the Sons can beat the Blazers, take the seven, go into San Antonio, whom they've had reasonable success against. They can convince themselves that, you know what? We can put a scare into these guys and let the chips fall where they might. Yeah, but again, I'm not getting on you for saying this. We're also counting on the play and slash playoffs meaning, oh, when that starts, the Sons will be healthy. I know. There's still a lot of mystery on a couple of these injuries. It was good to see Dylan Brooks. Yes, he's still in street clothes, but he's not wearing the brace slash cast that he had on his hand. So it looks like he's getting close. There's a lot of mystery about this Grayson Allen thing. I know. There's a lot of mystery on the Mark Williams front. There's a lot of mystery that if they are healthy, can we just throw them all out there and have it click right away? No, you can't be the better.

17:28That would be the better option to have than trying to piece it together. I mean, we saw what a marginalized Sons team looked like against Portland. They scored 77 points against Portland. That's not going to win you too many games. And that was a shorthanded Portland team that didn't have their best score. That was that was also one of the candidates for worse loss. Yeah, that one. The goals. The Chicago goals. Yeah, exactly. There's been a lot. There have been. All right. So the season ends on April 12th, folks. In case you didn't know, which means we're basically what? You've got three plus weeks to get it all back together. But you're right. There is a lot of. There's a lot of. Okay. What's up with Grayson Allen? When is Mark Williams getting back? Yeah. Here was Devon Booker about the bounce back performance by himself and his team. It is what it is. Tough stretch of the season. Game after game. And we just want to capitalize on the night after, you know, a hard break of last night. And book calls. We're talking about the tough situation that the sons themselves, they put themselves in it.

18:32To be completely honest, you know, we may put ourselves in a tough position to make it to their six now. So, you know, right now, we see folks on the plan, the right brand of basketball, right style of basketball learned from, you know, the past five games before this. And just continue to move forward. You know, whatever happens if it's playing and for no end to that once he gets here. Yeah. And if you want to be really optimistic about it with what has transpired in this stretch with all of these sons injured, what we saw over the weekend, there was no up and down for Ryan done this weekend. He was up both games. I thought he was really good against Milwaukee and played probably his best game. Of the season last night. And that's what you hope for in these tough stretches. And we've talked so much about Rushier Fleming, what he's been able to do with added minutes. Because you have no Roy Sonil. You have no Haywood Heismuth who was starting to develop into a contributor. So, these guys get opportunities. Yeah, there's going to be growing pains.

19:32Certainly there was with Fleming. Certainly there has been all season long with Don, but now if they're counted on, how much confidence do they have? I mean, Ryan Dunn looked like a different player last night. Yeah. And personally, I was uncertain that the door was going to open for Ryan Dunn again this season. And good to see that he's still got that competitive engagement because you're right. That was the good Ryan Dunn. That was the Ryan I am not done. I like it. So, now, the sun's in Denver tomorrow. 21:42Have Raiden Burries, big three for Arizona, Kevin Harlan on the call on True TV. That turned a six point lead into a nine point lead with about two minutes and 15 seconds to go. Wildcats do hold on, take care of business. They beat Utah State, the mountain west stay in the tournament is over. Yeah. Okay. So this was, this was fascinating for me to watch because I was thinking of Jared and Sammy pretty much the entire second half, yet another nice first half where they began to build a lead and build a lead and build a lead. They're up by 18 early in the second half and you're thinking, what a stress-free opening weekend for the wildcats, exactly what this fan base needs. And then the game started to get that little distinct smell to it. You know what I'm talking about, little bursts of comeback, bursts of comeback, nothing crazy, like a 20 nothing run, but just this narrow whittling of the lead that I know

22:43must have been driving Jared insane doesn't drive Jared in three different occasions. Utah State got that lead to four three. It was it and so the grip was that the grip was real. The wildcats turned their brain off for what felt like eight minutes of basketball play. And to Dan's point, that's when it wasn't an 18-0 run by Utah State. It was a couple of fouls made free throws from UVA, this, that, but continuous turnovers. And Utah State, listen, if you're a basketball, they run extremely good stuff, they get really good looks nearly every time down and they were making shots and it, I, I was nervous. I was hoping to get out of the weekend, like just unscathed, just get to the sweet 16. Yeah, they did that, but I can't help but just think about the eight minutes where they, they looked like a bad basketball. So Utah State could not make a three point shot to save their lives in the first half.

23:44They started making them in the second half and this dude Gary Clark comes off their bench and he starts making shots all over the court and all of a sudden you're thinking, oh, did the wildcats go and walk themselves, sleepwalk themselves into a game, into an upset, and they rebounded, like they've done a couple of times this year. I think one of those late big 12 games had that kind of feel. You guys probably remember which game was might have been Houston. The, maybe it was the, maybe it was the big 12 championship, the Houston game where they were up, they let Houston hang around, come back a little bit to close it down. And then they had to make big plays late and they did and I thought that when you took a look down the stretch, you saw some good stuff from pretty much, well, I won't say everybody, but a lot of their key players. Um, as I said, you guys earlier, Cree Voss and his offensive rebounds, his ability to get huge offensive rebounds when you need them, he did that again yesterday, uh, Braden Burys. Yeah.

24:44Yeah. Yeah. And they're really timely is what they are. They're always seem to come in these possessions that really, really matter. Maybe I'm wrong about that. And then Jaden Bradley came up with a series of sensational plays and then Braden Burys made a huge three point shot and then you could kind of call it a night. But what do you boys think? You're the Arizona. Jared. Jared, can you talk today, you're coming out of a weekend of two victories waiting for his turn. I was waiting for you to finish talking. All right. I don't want to interrupt you. I know much. I hate that. All right. Maybe the question, maybe the question is, can you talk today is maybe deeply, can you shut up today? No, here's. They, so when, when the lead started to evaporate, it was just absolute like, I was with a few of my U of A friends and it was like, it wasn't like getting really nervous. It was the, I cannot believe this is happening. Like, how is this down to six points? How is this down to four points?

25:45No, no, stop it. What are you doing? Make a free throw. Yeah. Make a free throw. Yeah. Yeah. That's something like that. And also every time after the lead evaporated, every time U of A went on a run and got it to nine or something like that, Utah State answered every time would hit a three or something and stay in the game. It was very tough. I will be one hundred percent honest. I never thought U of A was going to lose that game. Me too. And I think that dropped that kept me from going absolutely insane and being in full time mode. Youvay has played a lot of really close games this year against a lot of much better teams than Utah State. And they've won every single one except for one of them versus Texas Tech, which they blew late. But every other game, and it happened in this game, Bradley took over, took some, got some really big shots. I will say that Burry's three-pointer that you played coming in. Yes. I, I scared several tables around me at the place I was at because I jumped up here.

26:47That was the moment because if he misses that three-pointer, Utah State is only down six points. I had to be six at that time. That's right. They're only down six points with the ball, with two minutes left and all the momentum. That was a miraculous shot that made me really feel like we were going to win. But it was a lot of the same crap that is they've done all year, a really great team. I told you the best team in the country. When teams start to pressure them at the end of games, they cannot inbound the ball. They cannot get the ball over the half court line. I do not understand how they don't practice this, how they're not better at this with this many good players. I'm sure they don't practice it. I'm sure they practice it all the time. I mentioned carrot emotional tease about Arizona looking majorly mid. There's a sound. He labeled the sound bites too. Tommy Lloyd, why they suck so much when full core press to the end of game. You know, everyone on the periphery, you know, it thinks it shouldn't be easy to do.

27:48It's not. We have a desk or team, amping up the pressure, you know, and the jump balls in their favor and in their aggressive. It's hard. They kind of amped up the heat on their press a little bit. I don't think our spacing was great. I think our initial thrust wasn't great. And, you know, that that's something that, hey, it's in this not a, it's not easy to do. Not all, after all this hand-ringing and sweating, yes, it did get close. It did get down to four three times. It's a 12 point victory. And at the end of it, when you're looking back on them, when you're looking at the commemorative book that certain publishers will put out with the gold embossing on the front about Arizona's national championship, this will just look like a double digit victory. Wow. They won every game by at least 12 point. Yeah. Yeah. This one, like I said, this one never got to the point where they were, it was never a one possession game in the second half. Yes. But it was just the growing seeds of doubt that, oh, come on, are you serious? This team, this game after that first half, this is what's happening. But, you know, look, to their credit, the Wildcats have got some guys who don't, who don't

28:53get that frightened when stuff hits the fan. That's it. Where when the game got tight, Bradley had the ball in his hands and the broadcast mentioned it over and over again, but is his little jerky left the right crossover. He can kind of get anywhere he wanted, he did it down the stretch. And if Van Gundy calls him Jaden Daniels, one more time, how many times it's, I could not believe how many times he made that mistake. What an insulting mistake, too, it's an, I know, the wrong school, the wrong, yes, you have a fan should be used to it after Greg Anthony calling Tommy, Lloyd Tommy Shepard throughout a whole game on Anthony Shepard. That was just a little peep from the game. No, no, and, but his layup that when he drove the lane late, then took the contact and let the contact throw him to the left and then put it back on that was big time. He is big time. He is a big time player. He is a big time player. He doesn't have always the stats, but he does show why the big 12 player of the year was

29:53perhaps warranted because he is the most clutch player on the best team. Yeah. So congratulations. What's in front of you now? Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure? And then Sean Miller. I'm sure. The possible Sean Miller subplot is unbelievable. It's unreal. They're going to lose the Purdue anyway. So it's not going to matter, but I'd welcome that thing though. You'd welcome Sean Miller in Texas. Yes. Yeah, why wouldn't you? Because he can't win in the elite eight. We know that. I was talking to somebody about this last night. The level of torture for Arizona fans. If they lost to Sean Miller's Texas team at 11 seed with the final four on the line, finally getting to the final panel at your expense. If you are, you have a, like, hater, that is your dream. And Sean Miller sweating through four shirts in the process. I gotta tell you though, Sean Miller's double digit seed has given me a lot of points

30:54in our little competition. I know. Yeah. He definitely the only double digit seed left. Sean Miller is such a jerk face. I went down to Tucson drove down there one day because I had an interview Greg Burns set up an interview with Sean Miller with me. Come down, get to know this guy. He's not. He's not what everybody says. He is. Go meet him. All right. Greg, thanks. I'll do that. Get my car head down to Tucson. Sean and things are going good for about 15 seconds. And then he looks at me and he says, you know, I'm only doing this because Greg says you're a good guy. I'm like, why did you need to say that? What was it? What really possessed you to feel compelled that I need to say this to you? It is the that's it because so far, the actual on court stuff has been comparable. I recently did an interview and had a lapse in judgment, which resulted in me making a tasteless joke about CTE and asthma. It was never my intention to downplay the seriousness of head injuries or asthma. I sincerely apologize to anyone that was offended by my remarks and I assure you that I'll be more mindful and respectful going forward much love. Yeah. Do you think that it's possible that he just is so kind of simple-minded that he just gets sucked into whatever thing he's on? Like if he went on to a more intelligent podcast, do you think he would sound more intelligent? I think he would be invited to an intelligent podcast. But I think he has been celebrated so much for playing football in a certain kind of way that he is really, really, really leaning into this meathead mentality. I think you're correct. I think it's, we talked about it in real time when he was at ASU.

By the way, absolutely nothing to erase or diminish ASU's academic reputation, which is not at all accurate anymore. But everybody's just going to run with that.

38:18I know. Listen, you know, you know, I, I have been the biggest camp scataboo fan. You'll find there's no doubt about it. But to me, I don't like this emerging side of his personality. I'll be honest with you. The WWE thing, I would rather him play football the way he does and do it in a badass way. He is beloved in New York, but it's too early in his career for people to just say, ah, that's just scataboo. You know what I mean? How sometimes certain athletes are still able to say something dumb and you just don't really pay attention to it. Listen, again, there, there's a fine line between inspiring people with your toughness when he was trying to get off, a get up off the grass with his ankle pointing in a different direction. We all thought that I've never seen that before. There is toughness. And then there's otherworldly, I look at it like, don't you know your ankle is pointing in the wrong direction? Right. And yet he's looking for somebody to help him up. That's that kind of toughness. I think people can can really be inspired by by be odd by, but the idea that that you're being tough because you don't understand the risks. That's that's just stupid to me. Yeah, especially when your best friend Jackson Dart, how many

40:19concussions did he have last year? Five, four, enough enough. Yeah. Not sure if you led the league and close and the wrestling thing. Yeah, I'm not a wrestling fan, but I don't mind people who like wrestling. It's a dumb idea and a bad look when you're rehabbing from that injury and your foot isn't a cast and you're in the midst of what is a fake scrum when bodies might go flying for the sake of entertainment. And for the most part, I am a person who believes that society and individuals are way too sensitive on certain topics. This is one where I was like, it's not okay to joke about that, especially when you're playing football because if you read into these cases and all of these cases about former football players who ended up taking their own lives and then we're diagnosed with CTE, you know, posthumously. It's a terrible, terrible condition. And when you can't, it's one of those things. It's taboo. You know more is the very latest. Can't you know about CTE when you play professional football? That's can't do it. No, it's silly.
