Early morning on a Manhattan sidewalk, a shooting caught on surveillance video. It was an assassination style killing, and everybody saw it. A new podcast series from ABC Audio in 2020 goes inside this captivating case. I'm ABC News legal analyst Brian Buckmeyer. Listen to burden of proof Luigi Mangione, wherever you get your podcasts. This is Matt and Marin on ESPN Radio. And at dawn, 64 from Kentucky. Matt Jones, are you excited about the final round of the match? I hate that I'm watching for the same reason everybody else is watching to see if Roy's gonna collapse and blow the biggest lead ever after two rounds. So I have to be a big asleep. It was a largely up to 36 rounds. That's what I said. Marin Metcalfe, you have some sort of advantage for wanting to see Rory Fayette. They'll do the work like finish.
First off, don't use that word. Matt and Marin on ESPN Radio and on the ESPN app. Rory ended up winning that tournament, actually, I believe that was the that was the master's that he won. I guess two years ago. Yeah, two years ago. Marin here on ESPN Radio presented by progressive insurance eight and eight say ESPN. It is Friday. And you know what that means? Big football weekend starting, including the start of the NFL season in full on Sunday. We are presented by progressive insurance. You can say when you bundle your auto, your home or your motorcycle insurance, visit progressive.com. Marin, it is if you would wanted to, you could watch football on Wednesday. You could watch football on Thursday, Missouri and Kansas play tonight in a game that's such a big battle that they produced a really interesting video, which we will get to later in the show. Big time day at college football and Saturday in the NFL Sunday money.
If you're a football fan, I'm not sure how you could like anything more than these few days. It's a feast for fans, you know, to have games starting as early as Wednesday. As you mentioned, Saturday some big time matchups, archmaning going up against Ohio State. A lot of big time games and then Sunday the season officially kind of kicks off. So I'm excited man to watch football a lot this weekend. You know, I noticed you, you've become a hat guy. You're wearing a hat. You, I do sort of wonder if maybe you've begun copying me because of the other day I had a hat with nothing on it. Now you come with a hat with nothing on it. Is there like a little bit of, you know, you're trying to follow my style or something like that? I was if not pay the attention to the hat you've worn. I don't know what kind of hats you want. So I could tell you if you asked me like what hats is Matt Warren this week, I wouldn't know I wouldn't be able to tell you. Well, that's all right, but you look good in your back in Minnesota. I'm back in Kentucky. We had a great time in Bristol. I know our new colleagues got to know the goleics and unsportsmen like folks and I really enjoyed it.
When you're at ESPN, it feels like you are literally like, I don't know, a part of it. You can almost as if the walls talk during the time there. There's so many stories likely in that building. Yeah, I mean the legends, like I said, sitting next to golech singer hanging out with them. That was interesting and just fun. Can have told me 10 years ago that I would be doing that and just being around everybody in Bristol's own. I was a little worried though before the show yesterday that you didn't feel like you were a good hang. Did you not feel like you were a good hang with the goleics? I think with singer, I was trying to balance being a fan and also a colleague. I didn't really know how to do that. So I think I was a little weird. I was trying not to be weird and therefore I think I was more weird. What did you do that you were weird? I didn't know if I should talk more less. I didn't know. I don't know if I should ask questions. Maybe I'll give me a case of deal at one point and I didn't take it because I figured I was going to reach across, grab the case of deal and knock off everything on the table. And I just I didn't want that to be my first moment with golech singer.
So it well, I felt like you were a good hang. I feel like you are someone that's fun to be around. I think everybody liked you but I can tell it was really obsessing on you whether or not Mike golech liked you. I think he's probably more upset that we beat them in trivia. It's a great rating ESPN radio trivia champs at least until next year. Yeah, that's a good thing and I'm glad but I also don't know if that set the tone for things going forward. And I don't know, I think the golech said you were fun to hang out with and didn't mention me. So there's a little bit of concern there. If I need to go back and hang out with the golech to prove that I am fun to hang out with and I'm not awkward and weird. If you don't want to seem awkward and weird, don't call Mike senior and say, Hey, would you like to hang out and try again? I don't feel like we had to know. I think that would be one way. I think you were a little bit awkward and weird as if you did that. Yeah, okay. I was thinking about doing. I was like, if I'm in town, do I text him and say, Hey, what are you doing today? But maybe I don't think you want to do that.
I don't think you want to do that at all. As I said, we are presented by Progressive Insurance. It's time to go off the top. We're thinking about trying to think about nothing happens. Time to find out this is off the top. Flash off the top rope with Matt Meyer. Last night, if you turned on your Netflix streaming device, you would have seen the Rams and the 49ers in Australia. It was 10 30 in the morning there. But if you watched the Rams play, you would have thought maybe it was 4 AM. The way that their bodies looked after the first, I don't know, quarter and a half. The 49ers end up winning 27 to seven. I did something I rarely do, Myron, which is because I had to travel so much yesterday. I actually listened to a lot of sports talk radio both last night and today. And and pilots in the podcast. And the interesting thing was everybody wanted to have the conversation of, oh, this wasn't really about the time. This is about football. Let's not disrespect the 49ers.
And I disagree with all that. It's clearly about time and science. The Rams tried to defy the laws of physics. Act like time zones didn't exist. And you're never going to convince me that that didn't have an effect. It's Matthew Stafford's worst loss as a starter since he got to the Rams. By, I think eight points that he did not, he looked off. The Rams in the second half were certainly a step slow. The 49ers looked much more acclimated. I'm not saying football wasn't part of it. There were some really impressive parts of the 49ers performance, including Fred Warner and Nick Boza being back. But I am not going to take the view of its disrespect for the 49ers to note their different philosophies on travel. Myron, I think that was a huge part of it. One team looked tired and one team didn't. And I thought you could see it. I think you could see it too. My grandmother always said comments and saying common.
I don't believe that at all. There's nothing about a plane that is a better experience. And if you saw the video of the Rams getting off their flight, you know what they look like? People getting off the 17 hour flight. That's exactly what they look like. I mean, I, I, the idea that it didn't have an effect to me is ludicrous. Well, and the lay flat beds aren't designed for guys who are 65, 280 pounds. They don't make up for them. It wasn't like they had a customised plane. I thought it was a bad idea. And clearly you can see the impact Miles Garrett and the way he talked after the game. Matthew Stafford looked about as bad as we've seen Matthew Stafford in stretches. Like we've never seen that from Matthew Stafford. And everyone just looked lethargic. It was a bad move clearly to not get there earlier and get adjusted. Well, let's just take those two guys, friends. It's okay. Matthew Stafford and Miles Garrett. Those are two hall of famous. Right? Depending on where you saw the rankings going into the season, two people that had a lot of the best NFL players rankings were two of the top five players on the list.
They both had one of if not their worst games. In Miles Garrett's case, it has to be maybe the worst game of his career. No tackles, no pressures, no sacks, no anything. I mean, Miles Garrett was out there. I think I saw 39 plays. Yeah. And his name was almost never mentioned. He said afterwards that he didn't feel 100%. I don't know. Maybe sleep has a little bit of actually feeling 100%. Unless you just think those two guys are going to have significantly worse seasons than we're used to, there has to be a reason. And it would say I believe it's Occam's razor, right? The simplest definition is usually correct. I think the idea that you're trying to do something no team has ever done, which is defying the laws of physics. It's going to have an impact. And let's say like some guys could recover. Let's say you have guys on the team who they came over, they felt good, and they were ready to go at kickoff. Well, but there's still a chance, a good chance that there's a bunch of guys who didn't recover.
Like you got to do what's best for the entire group. Not what maybe is best for a couple of guys. And I just think anytime you do something and say no one has ever done it like this before, you better be sure that your team is going to be ready to play. I just think they made a major mistake. They came into that game. They looked slow. They looked frustrated almost, Matt, by the fact that they knew they were sloppy. Like they knew they didn't have 100% and especially in the second half, you know, I'm a big box fan. It looked like a tired fighter in the ninth and tenth rounds who really just didn't have anything else to give. Yeah, I mean, that's a really good point. You like boxing a lot. I feel like I remember, you know, when they're a major fights, don't fighters get to wherever it is like three weeks before or four weeks before. And they set up camp. And, you know, I remember reading the book about the Ali Foreman fight. And I think they went to what was then Zaire for five weeks before to do it.
I mean, there's got to be some part of that that actually has an impact. Sean McVay after the game was asked, I listened to this live on my drive home yesterday. And he was asked if he would have changed it in hindsight. I don't believe that that's why we didn't play well enough. I really don't listen. I'm more than comfortable with that. That's something that I'll always make decisions that I think are best for the football team. It's easy and hindsight to be able to say it was it was a miss. But those are responsibilities that, you know, I'll take. And then you try to be able to look at it. I'll always look at myself inside out and figure out where I can improve. Today was really just not good enough. I get on there, but you know, Peter Schrager reported. That the Rams spent two years. I'm going to repeat that. Two years. Studying how to do this. That they sent over 12 people on flights to Australia to try to mimic the effect on the body. First of all, that is insane to me.
That they sent 12 people. I don't know if they gave them sleep tests while they were there to see what happened. But I mean, you can outthink yourself. Here through the course of human history, we have known there's a thing called jet lag. And just because you have great hair gel, Sean McVeigh, does not mean you can overrule the laws of jet lag and time zones. I think they thought they were smarter than everybody else. I do. I think they thought they were smarter than everybody else. In another quote, he said it was a humbling moment. I actually give him credit for that. I think it probably was a humbling moment. Because they thought they were the smartest kids in class. And maybe they got knocked down a notch. No, I agree. So 12 staffers, they sent. Matt, I want to see the expense reports. I want to know what you would do. Were you recovering or were you enjoying? We got to stay here in extra three days to just make sure our bodies recover properly. And then were any of those staffers named Miles Garrett? Because unless you sent players over there, then you had no idea.
Sean McVeigh and you can hear, he knows he messed up. Like he doesn't want to throw anybody under the bus who made the final call. Yeah. But he knows it was the wrong. Because there were nerds. There were nerds in that building that suggested this. There was. Those people are like, they need to get on. Yeah. What is the job site that I'm is Zipper Kruters. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's got to be. I know there's a lot of those monsters. Zipper Kruters. Whatever it is that advertises with ESPN radio. It was what it up. They got to get there. The nerds that work for the Rams. Yeah. Go ahead and in because they convinced them of that. They would. They would. All those equations. You know, they talk of helium and all kinds of stuff. Yeah. I want to say one thing to net about watching games on Netflix. Actually two things. One, where do they get their cameras? Their cameras are so much better than everybody else. It's incredible. I feel like I'm playing in the game, Aaron, when it's on Netflix. Yeah. I mean, the cameras, I mean ESPN has probably best cameras. Netflix has amazing. Oh, the best. But Netflix. Netflix.
Netflix. I mean, like you feel like you're in a series. I know. I know. Kind of watch it. And it was cool to see that many people in that. It's a soccer stadium, I believe, right? Cricket. Cricket stadium. I will say, Matt, though, if you were front row. Yeah. I don't know the two expected to be 50 yards away from the action. Right? It was. It was a little. It wasn't quite as bougie. One more thing, though. I'm a big Noah Eagle guy. He's a he's a friend of mine and then Luke. Keith. Keith Lee. I thought he was great. He's great. Really good. I thought they did a great job with one thing. They all should have taken a deep breath on the Australian puns and jokes. There's a lot of it. There was too much shrimp on the Barbie, a mate, and then of course at the end, they put all those in like their post game show and kangaroo outfits. Yeah. I think we took that maybe just a little bit far, Miron, the whole we're in Australia. We, yeah, stuff. Yeah. I mean, I don't think we like it if people do that here.
No, right? No, if you had a game in Kentucky, the bunch of Australians were like, yee-ho! Look at you. Let's get our overalls! Watch some football. I don't think we would like that very much. No, like, yeah. Somebody pretended to be bone thugs and harmony or something and saying, hey, everybody, here's the hip and the hop. You don't want to see that. We really made people mad though about no ego. The Melbourne thing. Did you hear about that? But I think he's right. I think it's, I think people say Melbourne. But you don't get to, here's what I've learned, just even traveling here. The problem with outsiders. And we do this when we go places around the country. You don't want to suddenly try to sound like a local. You don't want to just suddenly think he should have tried to say the word like that. I think to me who told you to do, because sometimes mad, it's like one person is like, hey, let's do this. But you don't know if the entire country feels the same way. I don't know if I agree with this. So you're saying Americans say Melbourne. Yes. But apparently, and I didn't know this, Australian say Melbourne.
Melbourne apparently is what they say. So no, an ego said Melbourne. Isn't that actually showing respect to the culture? Yes and no. Because again, if you overdo it, you can't do it. Now people think it's a little performance. You can't roll. You're too much when you're speaking. That's the thing. Like he kept calling it that. Because then you look a little, yeah, yeah. That was the issue. I think that's where you get into trouble. Because you know, get, if a couple of people you met in Australia, we're like, hey, you should do this. You don't know if everyone watching is going to feel that way. And I think there were some people who were a little turned off. Like, you know, sometimes I go down south and I'll try to say things that. But then you're Brian Kelly though. And you're not careful. But isn't that how it happened? No, Matt. Isn't how Brian Kelly happened just like that. It is, but I feel like Brian Kelly. I don't know. I think it's different. So for instance, we have a town here in Kentucky that's V-E-R-S-A-I-L-L-E-S. Yep. And the French would call that Versailles. Mm-hmm. But we say Versailles. Yeah.
Which a lot of people think is weird. Yeah. We say Versailles. Yeah. But that's just what we say. But if a French person came here. And they said Versailles, I would think they were trying to fit in. And I would think that's kind of nice. Yes. But if they said it 15 times over dinner to try to make a point. Just keeps saying it. You might be like, hey, slow down a little bit. We get it. We get it. We're going to talk about the Rams in just a second. Specifically, V-E-R-E-U. But before we do that, the 49ers. That's a really impressive win. And when you get all that, this was a clear example. You get all their stars back. You get Fred Warner back. You get Bosa back. You get D-Bo back. Hey, wait a minute. There's something there that maybe folks, I think, easily overlooked. Yeah, but you also have two guys hurting the first half. This has always been a team that, if they're healthy. Yes. You know how far they can get. That defense, when they were healthy. They looked amazing, did they not?
They did. I just want how many people are going to say, you didn't play the real Rams. You played a jet lagged Rams team. Can you do it again? But you always talk about the divisional aspect, Matt. We may come back at the end of the season and look at this game. And it could have a factor in what happens with the divisional crown. So it's a major game. And I think the 49ers took it seriously. And they look really good when they were mostly healthy. Without question, is it a major game? It is this. I mean, this could be the difference. And whether or not somebody gets home field advantage in the playoffs. And the Rams, by the way, I just think they handled it so well. They lost a home game. The reports from ESPN earlier in the day where it was the Rams idea to play in Australia. They ended up making all the Australian fans mad by not going early. So the whole crowd was rooting for the 49ers. And then you have the whole sleep thing. To me, the Rams handled that probably about as poorly as they could. Now with that said, one person on this show was very adamant that the Rams had not only a good shot to go undefeated.
Great shot to go undefeated. We need to revisit one of my runs. Maybe his most ridiculous quote of the Matt Meyer and daily area. Error. That'll be next here on Matt Meyer. Yeah, I you know I've never heard Texas a.m. was known for their karaoke but maybe maybe so eight eight eight say ESPN. We have a text machine where you can write stuff in 7727452541 person says Matt. I think you guys are the best show on the ESPN lineup. It's really nice of them right. Yeah, I think there's a lot of great shows on the ESPN lineup. I'm sorry we got a lot of people so corporate. Well, that is a compliment. Why can't you accept so cool. I said, you're the best show. Can you not just say thank you? Why do you have to go? I think every show is equally. Come on. It's okay. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, that's good to be a mom. You're so worried about. We just say, hey, yes. I want the goal is to listen to them. Go look senior. He's not going to hang out with me. He's not really having any time with you. That's just how it is, Maureen. Wait until I text him. You don't know that yet. You don't have his number. One person says, I have a buddy from Australia. I texted him today, and he said they are they they do pronounce it Melbourne.
And he actually appreciated that Noah Eagle tried. How about that. Oh, I don't think again, you can try it. And he did I think people were concerned how often he did. That's where they were. That's the issue is you don't want to, there's a fine line, Matt, between, okay, you're just sort of respecting the local culture and now you're overdoing it. So you don't want to break it, sir. You don't want to break it. I tell you something else, I don't want to hang out with you now. I'll know what you go. No, no, it's great. He's great. I don't have a problem. One person says I have a message for Myron today. You'll never walk alone. I'll never walk alone. Okay. Do you know why he said that? No, no, you're wearing a Liverpool shirt. Oh, what did they do that? What do you mean did they do it? Did they do that? Did they not? That's their song. They played that at games. You'll never walk alone. That's the, that's what liver that is our song for. That is, that is the song. Oh, it's our song. So like you knew that that's what it was.
What we, we don't walk alone. You're right. Good. I don't know. I didn't know what they would say. Like you just, you'll never walk alone. It's like, is that a Bible verse? I don't know what he was saying. Yeah, it's only like the catchphrase of the entire Liverpool team. You know what? We won't walk alone. You're right. Well, I'll tell you one thing you did walk alone, one. And that was your prediction about the Rams this year. Only you and Bill Plaske of the, you got Bill Plaske. You predicted that the Rams were going to go undefeated. As a matter of fact, you didn't just predict the Rams were going to go undefeated. You predicted it with confidence. You're what you had to say two weeks ago on this show. I don't think it's like ridiculous. I don't think it'll happen. I wouldn't bet on it. I wouldn't project it. You don't think it's ridiculous? No, not 14. That's the favorite to win the football. Oh, give me the percentage chance that you think the Rams could go undefeated. 68, 70, 68. Potentially? Potentially. Now, grab it.
Now, grab it. Wait, wait, wait, wait. I'll tell you what. I think there is a 68 percent chance. The Rams are going undefeated. I wasn't in your math class. So I don't know, like, maybe it's a little high in the projection. But no, I think it's possible. Is that okay? 68 percent. What's the percentage of it's possible? Two percent. What's? Okay, somewhere between two and 68. Well, there's 66 numbers between two and six. Give me 39. Final answer. 39 percent. 39 percent chance. Yeah. That the Rams were going to go undefeated. Okay. What do you have to say for yourself now? In America, they still can't go undefeated. Oh, it was in America. You were only counting domestic games. I don't know. I don't have anything to do with what happens outside of the country. Interesting. So they can still be undefeated here. Listen, I think they made a bad decision. And I think that loss was more about the condition they were in than the team that they are. I don't think if you played in normal settings in a normal buildup, I don't think the
game goes like that. So when you were saying 68 percent and then 39 percent, did you not look at the schedule and consider the fact that they were playing in Australia as a possibility? I did, but I didn't think the first off, remember, we've been in tire preceasing talking about who was even going to make the trip to Australia for the 49ers, right? We didn't know who was healthy and they all, they all did. I mean, George Kiddled, bandit practice, like you didn't know who was going to actually be on the field and the 49ers were ready to go. Look mostly healthy. And then you have a Rams team that I just think did the worst thing you could possibly do to get ready for a division on opponent like the 49ers. So I think the preparation had a lot to do with it as well. So you would agree that was a terrible decision by you? No, I don't think it was a terrible decision. I think, okay, you stand by the prediction. I can't anymore. It's obviously over and people will hold that against me and that's okay. But I don't think it defines the team. All right.
Well, I think it was a pretty awful prediction. Now, we got speaking to predictions college football this weekend. Yeah. Okay. Last week it was kind of an appetizer. There were a couple good games. There's a lot of good games this week. There are, here's what I would say. There are probably, there are a couple of games that are under the radar that are going to have a big influence on the playoff. And then there's the two biggies. We'll start with Ohio State in Texas. You could make an argument, this is the biggest game of the year when you consider Texas going in or excuse me, Ohio State going into Texas in Austin. Last year this game was the first of the year. It sort of defined in some ways how people thought of archmaning throughout the season. Now you go back to Austin. Game days there, national stage. The good thing about the playoff system is this will not eliminate either of these teams as a matter of fact, it doesn't really hurt the team that loses it all. It will help the team that wins quite a bit. What do you see happening tomorrow night?
Well, I mean, LSU Klims and I think was the first high states matchup, mostly because of what was going on off the field, but you know, the reason wasn't going to win that game. I mean, this is a game either team could win. Yeah, this to me feels like the first major matchup, mega matchup of the season, right? You have a game that could impact the Heisman trophy finish with Julian Sainte and obviously archmaning. You have archmaning potentially having the performance that solidifies him as the number one pick, maybe on how state emerges and it's clear that they're the team to beat in college football. So I just think it's a matchup full of teams with two teams that everybody will want to see. We may see this matchup again down the road. And I think in Austin, you got to give the edge to Texas if it's a close game, but that all comes down to me. How archmaning is going to play? I am fascinated to see what the crowd looks like. I think a lot of Ohio state fans have been circling this game since four years ago when it ended up on the schedule wanting to make this trip.
I've been to a game in Austin, Texas. It's a great experience. First of all, it's great. It's a really good city. And then you throw in the game. I like it because I think it's kind of an archmaning redemption chance. When you watched the game last year, but he had all this hype. Arch did going into the year and he kind of laid an egg in that game. And as the year went on, he wasn't very good the first half. Now the second half of the year, he started getting a rhythm. But for a lot of people, the memory was still that first game against Ohio state. Now there's a chance to go and kind of reset the narrative. I think whoever plays the best in this game between Julian, saying an archmaning will be one of the couple of favorites for the Heisman along with Malacatoni. So I think there's that part of it. That's also exactly what we need in college football. We need these games to start the season. There seems to be a there was a few years where it felt like programs were trying to schedule these games. Then in the last year or two, a lot of them have backed out as the conference schedules have
gotten a little harder. I like these games. So I actually think Ohio State is going to win because I think Ohio State is has a mega roster. But this one to me can go either way. I think there's a good chance you're going to get to mid October before you see a game that's good during the season. No, I think that's valid. I mean, this feels like this potentially a national championship match. Texas is feeling more pressure. No, Matt, right? Like tell us. I think so. This face and depression without question. And that's specifically arts. Now Oklahoma goes to Michigan. This is early in the day. It will be on ESPN radio. Is the whole country rooting against Michigan at this point. It's weird. The favorite. So normally the country would root for the underdog. But I think after what happened in the Western Michigan game, everybody's going boomer sooner, right? Oh, definitely. I mean, the price underwood stuff, the fact that Western Michigan was ride. But listen, this is also a team that Matt has had a lot of missteps in recent years. They've been NCAA stuff and scandals.
So there are already a bunch of enemies of this Michigan program. And now you have this. So I think a lot of people will be rooting for Oklahoma. And this may be Bryce Underwood's last shot at Michigan, at least, to be the starting quarterback. And remember, Matt, he was one of those guys who came in and made more NIL money than anyone in the class. Like they paid him a ton. A ton. This could be it for him. That's a big game. You know, for Michigan, I don't think that's a team that's got is a real contender this year, regardless of what they do. But for Oklahoma, I actually think this game matters quite a bit. The SEC schedule will be very difficult for them. They have four or five games they can lose. I don't know if they can afford to lose this one, especially to a team that lost to Western Michigan in reality, if not, if not in practice last week. So I think there's a lot of pressure. You know, when's the last time Oklahoma has mattered? Like I don't want to make Oklahoma fans. But is it when Baker may feel? I mean, I guess Jalen Hertz took them to a playoff game. But we've had three or four years here where Oklahoma's kind of been completely off the
national radar. This is a chance for them to get that back because I think they are a legitimate playoff contender if they win. And a chance to say, Hey, we're in the SEC too. You know, I still forget David. Yeah, people forget. Yeah, I think that's still what Oklahoma is fake Texas a little bit too. But more Oklahoma is still trying to say, Hey, let us into the party because I don't think people see them and think SEC yet. You go beat Michigan. You get on a run and you get a lot more respect. Yeah, well, we're going to go into some other games, including my team. There you go. That's big. My team has maybe their biggest game of the season tomorrow against the tide. But you can tune into football Sunday presented by Gusto. It's a double header. The Panthers will host the Bears at noon. The Raiders host the dolphins at four. Well, we got a big one. Didn't wait. Raiders and dolphins. Covers begins its new in Eastern on the SPN radio and the ESPN at Moore College and some NFL news. See corporate Meyer and didn't like that next on Matt Maher.
Matt Maher and the podcast. Yeah, that's what the Tennessee fans have been doing. They're on the midnight train to Georgia to play Georgia Tech. You just say there's a video of them. They're marching in the streets. It looks like they're all over it. It looks like thousands of them are in the streets of Atlanta just everywhere. Yeah. It's going to be mostly 10 of C fans probably in that stadium. Even though it's George, I think is it at the Georgia Dome or is that Bobby? Bobby, Bobby Todd. Bobby Todd. You're going to play that game. Bobby, that's going to be, that's going to be like all orange. Tell you what those days, you guys don't, don't think you can march through all of Atlanta. They're farts. You don't think they're part, they're part. They shouldn't play Rocky Top and don't, don't get too ambitious. It's all I'm saying. That's true. They had to hold tail and go to the stadium. You know, they say Rocky Top will always be home for you and me. Yeah. But they're parts of Atlanta that aren't home for you or me. No, stay stay right on the path that they gave you in the brochure.
How's it you need to do in the brochure? Hey, I ate it eight say ESPN. We're going to do King of the Mountain next segment. So get your, get your fingers ready to call in. We have had two two time winners. We have. Well, our one winner, what's his name, James? Bob? He's in Atlanta, I think. It's Bob. He's in Atlanta. Bobby in Atlanta. He's going for three straight today. We'll see if he's able to do it. Text machine 772 7745254. One person writes Matt Myron is my favorite part of the show by far. It wouldn't be the same without it. Oh, that's true. I mean, it is Matt Myron. So if you didn't have myron, yeah, you got any. I mean, a little harder. I don't, I mean, there's only two parts of the show. So that's the favorite part. And that doesn't, I feel like that's a little bit of a put down to be. I appreciate it. But that's OK. That's OK. I appreciate it. I understand. Mike Tucky Wildcats play the Alabama Crimson Todd tomorrow. It's on ABC. You can watch it on our sister station. I listen, I know it's not the game of the day and I get all that, but it's a great chance
for my Wildcats to take down Roll Tide. This is the biggest game in Kentucky in four or five years. It's also a huge hot seat game for Kaylen DeBore. And Alabama Will Ston said, bring in your flask and feel free to yell at the other teams. Then last night, he sent out a tweet that was like, I'm going to hang on. You can see HR founding because he sent out a, he sent out a tweet that was like, you know what? We've got options inside. And then he said, let's be respectful. It was almost like the Ed came out and then they came back and said, amen, you can't be telling everybody to sneak in flask. Yeah, that's like where you walk through the door and there's 12 people sitting at a table and they say, sit down. Mr. Stein, have a seat, please. That's one of those meetings that he got called into. And I think it he would. You can tell he got ahead of himself a little bit. I bet after the interview, he was like, wait a minute.
I may have just said something that can get me in trouble, but the spirit of it got fans excited. Oh, yeah, it's going to be its first sell out of a game in a few years in Lexington. It's going to be exciting. What happens to Alabama if they lose? Is Kayland Boer going to Zippercruder right after it and joining the sleep expert for the Rams? Yes. I mean legitimately. I think if you lose this game, because I think he's already on a hot seat considering the expectations at that school and what they think they're supposed to be, if you lose that game. I think it would be almost impossible for him to recover, bar and a run to a national championship or something like that. But you lose on the road to Kentucky. I think you're going to be in a lot of trouble if you're kelling to Boer. I think you're being a lot of trouble. And I think there's a chance. I actually think this game, you take the jur, the, the names on the front of the Jersey off and just you wouldn't necessarily the talent gap is not what it once was in these kind of games. Alabama's deeper, but you look at, you know, both teams are healthy.
I think this could be a battle. But I think with Will style, obviously you want to win the game. And I'm not saying I believe that's selling moral victories, but I think the way you can beat like if they go out there and they're competitive against Alabama and it's a close game and you have a chance. That's obviously not the result you want. But I think that would still give Will style a lot of street cred if these guys look like they played differently and they can hang with a team like Alabama. Now probably none of you have ever cared about the Kansas Missouri football game. No. I haven't cared either. No matter fact, I'm not sure that they played in like 25 years. They used to be in the old big eight. But Kansas made a height video. Now I don't want to play all of it. Okay. That's it's too long. But let's just play. I just want to get you like the first 30 seconds and see if maybe Kansas went a little bit over the top against their historic rival.
Only a legist decides their legacy. There's right and wrong. There's Kansas and Missouri. How about that, my man? Going back to the Civil War. Man. Wonder what he's talking about. There's right and there's wrong. I mean, we don't talk about it. And if this is not, I mean, there's not just a football game. That's it. It's a lot more than that. That's a level of trash talk out of the any team has ever experienced. Like usually trash talk is, hey, man, you all are terrible. You don't win anything. We're the better team and you kind of go back and forth. And maybe they say something about, you know, your fans and you say something about their fans. That's kind of how it goes. I don't know that I've ever heard a, hey, remember when y'all used to own slaves? Like y'all remember that time? Oh, y'all forgot about that. Well, we're going to remind you in a video. And just to tell you that we were actually on the right side of history and y'all were on the wrong side of history, I don't know that I've ever seen someone take that kind
of a shot at a rival. It is like who brings up the Missouri Compromise in college football game. No, I mean, you remember when maybe the worst injustice in the history of this country took place, well, you were on the bad side and we were on the good side. And now we're renewing it. It's Friday night on the ESPN. Are you ready? Yes. It's like, all right. Yeah. You know what, our special teams aren't great. But let's talk about your great, great granddaddy. Like, wow, hold on a second. You know what? Maybe a four and a half point favorite. But we believe in freedom. There you go. There you go. It does not get worse than that. It ain't eights. It's King of the Mountain. The best take. I don't know if you're going to be able to beat the Kansas High School tonight. But the best take you can get to get your winner and join the ranks of Matt Miron, King
of the Mountain winners. Eight and eight say he has to get it in right now. Sorry. Matt Miron, the podcast.
