1:01Oh yeah. But guys big big football show with Anthony Beck coming up at four. Alex Monaco at four forty five. Jonathan Dilma at five o'clock. And a lot of J E T S jets jets jets. Is they're going to try to do something they haven't done a long time gentlemen. Start to and oh for the season. And this is a big week number two for the locals. The giants will get plenty of time to dive into them on Monday. We'll still do some giants today. But it is a big jet stays they get ready for the green Bay Packers for a one o'clock kickoff. Tomorrow afternoon. For the jet I'm telling you for the jets like winning that first game week one. Takes a lot of the pressure off this game. Okay and it because of the opponent it's the only reason why you can go into this. And tailgate although I think the weather's going to be terrible. But the judge fans will be there with bells on like they always are. And I think that's what makes this fun.

2:01It's like a home opener. With without any of the anxiety of frustration. There is this tangible optimism with this team. And so that's why I like I'm really looking forward to Sunday. Just to see how they perform. And I'm not going into with oh they got a win they got a win. I felt that way against the Titans because I didn't think Tennessee was going to be very good. But this is you know a green Bay team that's been historically good. Well coached they have a terrific quarterback. Are they beatable? They certainly are. They proved it in week one. But I don't I don't know. Tell me if I'm wrong that I shouldn't feel this way. I just don't think you come into this game as a fan with the same sort of anxiety or angst about the team and how like don't screw it up. Don't upset me. I just want to you know we got to win this game. I want to see them try to compete with a team that's been very good for the last couple of years and prove to me that you are you know. Hey listen what you looked like in week one. We've known each other a long time. And I respect you.

3:02So please do not take this the wrong way. I need you to man up. Come on. No because when do I not man up? Peter what do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean? Look because hear me out. You know I'm not going in with the anxiety. Do you think they can win the game? I do think they can win the game. Then there's anxiety. You can't play that game. No no no. You can't play the game of. There's just too early. We can win this game. No what you're doing is you're being non-committal. I think they can win the game. It's not not going to go in. No anxiety. No no no. You want a game against Tennessee. Packers come limp it into this game. They have it one with with Parsons hurt. They've allowed nearly 30 points of game when Parsons been hurt. Yep. Right. I mean I maybe Peter will disagree with me but I don't think you could have it both ways. If you think you win the game then that means there's going to have to be some angst. There's going to have to be some anxiety. But you can't get to go into a game you think you can win and sit there and kick your feet up and go oh that's all right if we lose it's okay. But that is sort of the beauty of winning the games you know you're supposed to win.

4:04That's what I'm trying to say. They won the game last week. They had to win to start the season. Everybody said including on this show if they lose week one against Tennessee. Oh my god what does that mean? Well what do they do? They kick their ass from pillar to post for 60 minutes. Now that means if you're a fan hey why not go win another one but I actually understand what Alan saying I'm not going to be stressing. You already got you got splitting the first two is a great win for this team. I know I understand but then go win with the fact that you know what I don't think we're winning on Sunday. But that's I think the Packers are better so I'm going to kick up and hey as we win great not no I've been hearing jet fans all week we can beat this Packer team Packers of lost six in a row no no Parsons they're giving up tons of points they were they were absolutely boat raced in the second half of the game by Carson Wins and now all of a sudden we're going to back pedal and say that it's house money I don't think you're allowed to play that game. Two things can be true. I can go into this game thinking they can win. Watching to anticipate a win feel good about a win. Root for a win. All those things can be true but if they play hard and they have a good it's all about what it

5:09looks like I say it all the time. Yeah. If they battle and just green Bay was just a little bit better whatever it is I don't have that same like same old jets frustrations. Right I agree. Now if they go in and it's a rainy day and Sanders misses three field goals and there's a lot of flags something just stupid then yeah then I then I start you know maybe I start punching the wall a little bit but right now that's not my feeling and I think tailgate at MetLife on Sunday is going to be a little bit more of a joyous anticipatory type of mood rather than the old mood we've all felt before because we've all been to those tailgates when you're walking we all roll our eyes and go here we go again boys but I think what you're talking about is like a post script where is there a scenario in which they could play well and they just lose to a better team on the last second field goal or you know love drives the length of the field they score late touchdown you go you know what I can live with that effort that efforts good if we do that every Sunday we're going to be in every game and we're going to have a fun season but there's still the anxiety of

6:13what what if they just are embarrassed and they soil themselves and you'll be like oh it is same old jets that that was they just beat the Titans because the Titans stink and the possibility guys of this team looking horrible to me brings anxiety that what exactly is this jet team was this a team that just won because the Titans are awful or is this a team moving in the right direction because if they're moving in the right direction guys I'm not picking the jets to win the game but if they are what I think they might be this is a winable game they could win this game yeah but if they lose 41 to 6 you know what I'm sorry same old jets of course there has to create there has to be anxiety in the unknown anxiety that happened the anxiety won't happen until if until half time if they're down 23 nothing or or something like that then then it kicks in again I was talking about going into the game I am not going into the game with this this this sense of like God we go in was terrible he can't we can't be oh and two and all those things

7:14that come with it right that win allows you to enjoy a home opener whether or not it's going to be pouring a you know pouring rain and you can't really have you know the glorious sunshine and the the tailgate that we all love to do so that's all I was saying now all right well I don't I don't expect the jets to look like it guys I don't all right that's a different story that's a different story if you're confident that this team is past all that I don't know why you would feel that after one game I'm not I didn't say confident but but but again I'm not going to try to tell you how to feel but I'm on the other side of it too with the giants giants played a great game and they'll be anxiety going into the Monday night game to see if they are what I think they are because if if if the Rams just beat him pillar to post and then that's going to take a lot of steam out of what happened to Dallas if Dallas gets smoked by Washington the all of a sudden things start looking a little different sure so that to me creates a bit of anxiety now I think the giants are going up a tougher opponent they're going to LA so it's a little bit different it's not

8:17apples to apples comparing the jets and the packers but this is just isn't this just a difference in food fans are like like I don't see either scenario that you painted Alan tell me if you're with me and again this is just how fans process football I don't think there's ones right or wrong to me I don't think of either of the games this week as major stress I like I would put my game after losing a close game to a division opponent now I'm going to play another division opponent on the road that's major stress like I can't get blown out this weekend or I'm thinking about my whole season I don't think the jets or giants are facing that this weekend I see I disagree with that I don't understand because you've got an O and two blind team in Detroit and week three so Mike mentally you're like oh the lion's gonna really lose their first three games of the season and then you're at the bears so if you lay an egg against the packers you might be one and three well no one wants to lay an egg that's not that's not on the table sure but what the question was going into

9:18this game originally for the jets Alan saying he's not stressed about it because they already got over and I think the giants are in the same spot yeah sure if you want to look ahead at the future schedule go my god what about this what about that if you you want your team to go play well this weekend but no one's living in dying this week I don't think if your jets or giants fan well listen we're just talking about anxiety I'm not I'm not saying that you got like a noose in the basement ready to I would think not saying let's let's end it all well but there's an anxiety of okay my team showed me something let's see if they could do it again because I'm sorry there's still question marks okay nobody checked any boxes in week one it's week one Peter you said to yourself it's September we don't know what any of these teams are all right so there's always going to be a test and you want to pass every test you can and it's a home opener and and and and Jeff fans are feeling good I want to see that building rocking the way that met life rocked going into the cowboy game right the giant fans were really excited because they got a brand new coach they're

10:20excited about their team they're excited about the transactions during the off year and they they showed up all we keep hearing is there was electricity in that building they talked about it during the broadcast all right the jets didn't have the same offseason but they had a really good game against the Titans you know what I want to see that's a similar energy and met life now understand the rain may put a damper on that but if you're really hyped up and you're really you know excited you want to see the team back that up and and unfortunately guys maybe maybe I got the PTSD over the last decade but you know one game does not wipe away 15 years of this is a play out for the jets and so I would think it's still on the table for jet fans that you still got a show me you still have to show me that there's that consistency and I would be a little anxious to see if this team is able to bring it in week two all right now you put it that way that's where my head is at my head is at this place where I now want to see Aaron Glenn as the play call or now that's his

11:26superpower right yes okay well you saw what a defense did to that green bay offense last week I want to see now you as the play caller how much can you now adjust adapt setup setup a scheme whatever it is to me this says a lot you want to say that the whole show let me let me see let me show me something you want me to start buying in this is a big game for Aaron Glenn as a play caller on that defense because in a in a rain soaked which is expected to be a rainy day against the quarterback is really good they got some good receivers I want to see what you've got set up they were blitzed like crazy last week Minnesota was like pinning their ears back just getting after him so they had a couple of big plays but their offense you know was caught off guard that offensive line can be had they've got injuries donnie like if you want to start getting somebody like me who's been skeptical and every jet fan is every reason to be skeptical because they've given you nothing

12:28but reasons to be that and pessimistic right but you want to show me something show me show me the head coach becomes the guy that all the players say he gets the game ball because he called the hell of a game and that defense was dominant because how many times we've seen the jets at home in the rain be the team that looks overmatched overwhelmed and unprepared show me that in week two winner lose and I still feel pretty good and I start to now anticipate that they are climbing out of the ashes finally how about that yeah for sure and I look on the offensive side of the ball all right because Gino Smith we talk about competent quarterback play and when they get it they win and they've got the weapons well with Parsons out of the lineup the Packers are O and five and have allowed 30 points again so why can't you be that team and be dynamic because the reason there should be a little bit of an anxious moment for jet fans in the last decade

13:3010 years the jets of only one three home openers that's tied with the Browns Titans and giants for the fewest home openers over the last decade teams you do not want to be rubbing elbows with over the last 10 years the Giants Browns and Titans so but I'd like to see them score some points I mean I thought they left some points on the table against Tennessee they committed some penalties they had a touchdown taken off the board you know so your home there should be some energy there to wipe out the whole thing one of the reasons that the Packers are oh and six in their last six games is because they're be giving up points and I don't think this jet team with the talent that they have should feel like they can't do the same thing listen it's a good when we looked at this start to the season I think that because of the way the jets played in week one and because of where the Packers played and the Josh Jacobs of it all you feel much better about this game than you did six weeks ago when we looked at the schedule this this is now a game you can absolutely

14:33be reasonably thinking about winning which is a very good spot for this team to be in it and like Alan can you even imagine a world where you're two and oh a week from now my god no no last time they were two and oh it was 10 years ago like that's like this this is this is now out of character this is now this is not a place that as a Jets fan your or anybody that has been around the jets is used to talking about which is probably why I am where I am mentally it's maybe maybe you're right Don maybe I'm trying to create a soft landing for myself because I'm so used to it well that's a great thing seriously I remain pessimistic right because it allows me to cope with the reality of the negativity that's eventually going to happen maybe that's all I'm doing here but at least that week one win allows me to go into a game a home opener feeling oh for sure feeling like you know this is fun like having fun instead of already miserable one week yeah

16:37with Justin and Tom's river you're on Don on a Roosevelt what's up man hey guys thank you so just taking my fall call you know Don I agree with you and I agree with you Alan you know this is like a measuring stick game for the jets you know I'm 40 years old that's going to be an October this year we've had nothing to get behind this team you know obviously Robert Salis is a defensive coach and I know Tennessee is out as a team but one thing we know Robert Salis provides himself on his defense and the jets owned the line of scrimmage and they ran that ball so I look at it as you know the jets are going to have an advantage you know hopefully with the weather with running this ball this is a measuring stick game and you know the van is going to want to get behind this team because we've been in the dreads for so long and I look at this game and you know I want to believe in the team that this team is going in the right direction and after week one and hopefully after Sunday I'm not saying the jets are going to win but I expect a good performance from the jets on Sunday and you know this team I do believe is finally going in the right direction and the fan base wants to get behind the team finally and finally have a winner with this team yeah and I think the opponent means something it's the green bay package you know

17:38some of the fans of the packers will get into the building but it's your home opener and there's optimism you want to see that through and I just think jet fans have been disappointed so much over the last decade and a half that there's always going to be a little anxiety on whether they're going to be able to come through and and a giants too guys we'll talk more about the giants on Monday but you know one game does not wash the bitter taste out of your mouth and I know that you feel like teams are moving in the right direction the giants maybe more so because of the change it coach and who's at quarterback but it was a nice effort against the jets and it does seem to be a different feel around them and the way they carried themselves the way Glenn's carried themselves but let's see if they can do it on Sunday David's in Elizabeth you're on ESPN New York what's up baby just the gentleman I wanted to speak to for the foremost has been a while guys hello to you guys yeah we're up before I start I just want to say this I've been hiding working you know same stuff I want to shout out one of your co-workers Jake Azan man put together a lovely lovely

25:03well and also it's just you know you know people are going to be irrational constantly in football that's that's what this is every every week now there's going to be a new for the new for the first month you have to fill every minute of every day with a take so we're going to hear about what team we we Alan brought one up yesterday to the giants of me if they win to the giants immediately become a favorite to win the whole conference like people can't help themselves with coming up with ridiculous things to say but to your point Don it makes a lot more sense to have a lot of thoughts that hang over from what we've seen the last several years because especially because like for both teams but especially the jets there really hasn't been enough tangible evidence of something improving or going in the right direction and last year with Aaron Glenn there was no proof and so that's what makes i think this is it's a bigger deal because if you start to notice hey this is actually going going right for the jets that's a big deal no it's you haven't been able

26:04to say that for many of the last 15 years now the giants bring in John Harbaugh so the optimist them through the roof so there's a little bit more tangible evidence that may be with the new sheriff in town things are going to be different but i'm kind of talking to all those people and we were just talking about Jake who wanted Aaron Glenn run out on a rail he was a he's a miserable head coach he's no good i'm sorry win against Tennessee should not not all of a sudden change your mind does not change no however a win against the packers and two and oh well now we're now we're starting to build towards something but that's right one win against Tennessee now for the people that were thought that Glenn was you know i want to wait and see well then maybe it means a little bit more but to everybody who want to Glenn fired he has no idea what he's doing well i'm sorry guys one win against Tennessee shouldn't change all that but the packers could be a bit of a different story ira is in statin island you're on down on your way to work how are you i what's happening guys i tell you know you don't want to get carried away but as a fan you can't

27:08help it with the excitement yeah this is a big test for our own line and i said i would just wait for the first month go by see what just seems all about but you win that first game you got to see get an extra game you all mentioned it you know it's going to be a little bit lot more difficult but i highly doubt they're winning you know so two games but this is a winable game i think what the place in to the jet sand like everybody said and it you know i think there's a lot of pressure on the line i think the players are going to come out loose and i think they're going to give you a really good effort you have a lot of good leaders in that locker room so i don't think there's going to be an unrearing your press clippings that they you know beat up on the tightens and i think they're coming out to prove something and there's a lot of pressure on the packers so you know i'm going on a limb i i think you just a good figure out a win this game i really think it's going to come down to protecting the ball and running the ball and because of the weather i think you just get the advantage they got the both lines i think they're better and uh we'll see out plays out you know but like if they do get blown out uh same old jets yeah that's always on

28:09the table i mean i i remember brings up a great point to guys about the packers you know i know they're shorthanded but oh and two the way they played the second half against minnesota and then you lose to the jets you know and and you're in a division that's got you know everybody thinking the bears are legit and i am and you're already got you know the lions who you know they're one and one they're kind of licking their wounds after last night but still like oh and two and even the lions one and one looks like oh and two it does consider weak one still one and one and yeah and and we talked about this with the giants making the playoffs i mean the NFC you know i think it's going to take ten wins to get into the postseason and even though there's still 15 weeks left in the season you start oh and two you know it definitely puts some pressure on everybody to like we got to start winnism games here otherwise this could be a law season so uh it's so it's so interesting it and on the same time you let's pump the brakes it's only

29:10September is a lot of football left but for some teams you know it becomes it becomes pretty important you start losing too many of these games especially in a good division it could be tough to get up from that you're going to desperate packers team you know you're going to be facing a desperate packers team but this is this is one of those okay Aaron Glenn show me you face them you know them well you were in that division you play caller now show me show me your superpower this is a game where you could show it off and even though don't i i don't feel that it's one where you have to be incredibly nervous going into it it's also one though where i feel like if you get smoked you really think a lot less of just beating one of the worst teams in football like that can go out the window well that's why you know and i would just said it you know the same old jets and that's why i think there's got to be a little nerves that same old jets is still on the table i and it's but i'm bear is that it's because again it's early they can do the same old jets last the whole season

30:11yeah i don't care it's it's just gonna it doesn't go away fast because that jets are going to jet thing hangs over you even when you get off to a good start because it's the specter of a good start and then you just the wheels fall off and they're same old jets like that never goes away honestly man like you can you can't scrub that out you can't fume again not not this quickly I mean you can scrub it out of you win the first you know if you beat the packers you beat the lion like all of a sudden three you know you know and then you lose to the bears in a tight game don't tell you say same old jets it still doesn't go away because it comes what happens if you get off to a start and you're you know whatever it is four and two or five and so whatever it is if you get off to a good start which we haven't seen it forever it now it brings the pressure of you've got to now finish the job and if it there's always something lurking around the corner with this franchise always and so that's why I said to you it doesn't this doesn't go away

31:14like this takes a while to dissolve and because it's been 15 years of futility so I don't think it goes away with a loss or with a win I mean tomorrow of Sunday but it's more of just I got to see what this looks like and the first thing I need to see now the first the first thing was beat a bad team on the road to start the season and let us know your secrets and they did they beat him pillow to post the score to the score doesn't show you how much they dominated that game now we two is take a good team that is kind of reeling right now and beat them at home and let me see the head coach who took over play call have a great defensive game in a bad weather situation and now I'm like okay it's heading in the right direction that's it's this is a process when you've been this bad for 15 years you don't turn it around in a blink we thought Aaron Rogers would have done it a couple years ago but he got jetted too like what happened to him was such a jets thing so even he couldn't

32:15escape it but this is not going to be a quick fix it's going to take some time and finding consistency yep how long are you going to go without like looking like the same old jets and the same thing you need is an identity that isn't pathetic yeah and you cannot create an identity at least right now it doesn't feel like it beating the Tennessee types because that might be a team that's one of the worst teams in football well and by the way and you can and you can still create that identity not beating the green bay packers but playing a certain way yes like there there's there's a way they play this game and lose and you still feel really good yeah their running game is dominant the offensive line is great and they just lose they lose by feeling what is what it is then you can say well you know what this team can run on you this team's got a great offensive line like every week now you know what you're getting when you face the jets and that's what I mean that's what I want to see because they really have never had a true identity Kalil he's in the Bronx you're on Don on a Roosevelt what's going on hey what's happening what's happening I didn't mean in a call

33:18yeah for a while but look me up for a while my whole thing with I'm a jet fan one of the reason to break from the Yankees and Debt fair I don't know how you became a jet fan because my brothers there are a few of them I guess they I guess you know just to balance out your world that's right right so my anxiety with Don said like it's there because the consistency is not there and we still have questions that's on the answers you know with the quarterback situation and still with the coaching you know I went to four games when six catches was here and I almost drove to Buffalo and then finally game that we have to win and I'm glad I didn't because I was a bit stressed out you would have been the only one that showed up because they didn't pretty yeah pretty much so I mean yes I'm glad we won you know we won but still I just need more and it's as me personally it's hard for me to get me to cross that bridge to go to that stadium you know to go and watch the scene

34:18I get it totally feel it I really can't be grudged you for that I don't know anyone can yeah you've had the rug pulled out from under you many many times I mean even even think about guys yeah I know you don't want to go back there out but think about what happened with Aaron Rodgers I can't stop thinking you won that's all you think you know you won that game I know you beat them so coming out of there you didn't feel great about the future because you lost Aaron Rodgers but you're thinking hey they showed some gods maybe Zach Wilson could be the guy like you've you've played this game before so I can understand the apprehension we played this game many times play this game with Gino play this game with Sam play this game like it's just you you've had those moments where you felt like hey maybe and then you're just slapped back into reality and we are now like I don't know what a Brown's fan could possibly feel like but this is pretty close so that anytime something good happens the first thing you're doing is going away this is like something bad's about to come around the corner right like you can't ever just relax if something good happens and that's why

47:53lunch with today was he's a giant fan we were just talking about the same type of thing and I was like you know the jet still really have any identity like it's good to see the giant like I enjoy watching the giants to even know I'm a jet fan but like I'm like what is a jet identity maybe Rex Ryan based with a little bit of defense or something like that you know that's the last time they had one yeah that's it Colin I mean if you really think about it right he was Rex Ryan and a tough nasty physical defense and you know they talked trash and all the stuff that went on with them that's what the jets were with Rex and that's you know look with that identity they got the two final fours it couldn't break through but that's what they had and since then it's kind of been gone like what what they haven't had an identity the only identity they've had is pathetic but but it's interesting with with Colin brings up like what is what is the overall jets identity like when they're playing well like the giants when they play well when you look at their superball

48:54teams you know run the ball down your throat control the clock play really great defense lunchpale defense you know the great giant players roll more on the defensive side of the ball right Sam off and Lawrence Taylor get after the court of defense but what is it like when the jets are good what is it because you know you got Joe name it then it was all fence right it's easy to tell you when the jets jets historically when they are a good team it's generally when they're scoring a lot of points because that's from from name if to to Richard Todd to and and Freeman McNeil to to to Kenny O'Brien like Vinnie you know like I know but not the rest version that was the NFL right the AFL was we are we're entertaining we throw even in the 80s done in the 80s that that was a high scoring offense with with Al Tune and Wesley Walker yeah you know what I mean like that that was a high scoring offense so I would say when the jets are at their best it's when they're a team that can
