But what I did do yesterday, I did get back in the bed and get me another hour and a half. You needed that hour and a half. Yeah, it felt good. Absolutely. And you might feel different today. Your body does some weird, weird adjustments

5:09when you're doing this, this time slot, you know what I mean? So it might be a nap today. It might not be a nap today. It might just be your, your awake. And you feel energized for some strange reason. That's just how it works, man. And then regardless, regardless of the fact of what it was going to happen today, I'm here. Let's do it. Let's do it. 6:11All right. So we all remember what took place. The last time we had replacement refs, you know, everybody has the well-documented, horrible, you know, fell Mary and all kinds of stuff like that. And just the absolute show, as show that it was when there were replacement referees, the last time there was a work stoppage. Now, you get fast forward to where we are right now, Plex. I had to make sure I get that read in. You would think after what took place the first time and the amount of scrutiny that was surrounding the replacement referees

7:13that this would not become a thing at all. But I think, Plex, the more I think about it, maybe that's the biggest reason why it is becoming a big thing because the referees understand their value. They understand the stability that they create. It's funny because of how much scrutiny and how much criticisms. I mean, crazy scrutiny and criticism are lob torched referees on, I mean, just pure hate. There's lob torched referees weekly on a weekly basis on missed calls. They could have did this right. What are they doing? Where's the integrity of the game? All these different things that come up, all these harsh conversations surrounding referees. And that's the main group. Let alone bring into replacement. How do you see this right now? Do you just feel like this is power for the course? They'll get it done. What if there are replacement referees?

8:13I mean, just how are you looking at this right now? I mean, just said that the referees understand their value. And everything, you know, all the criticisms that they receive, we can and we can out. I mean, you have to and say that they deserve it. I mean, the officiating has not been good over the last, you know, few years. And they keep trying to make the game better because the referees are making all these egregious calls. Everything has to go to, everything has to go to the instant replay. A few years ago, we were challenging defensive pass and a interference. They tried that out for one year, that didn't work. So they're always trying to tweak the system for to help these referees get it right the first time. And with all the criticism that they've been receiving, now we're talking about replacement refs

9:13again, first of all, what are the requirements from the NFL to be named of replacement ref? I want to know, because you can't just get off the couch and say, sign off, fill out a resume, walk into a building and be trained to be an NFL referee. And just like you said, we're talking about the 2026 season. Do you know when the training starts for these replacement rests? May first. Do you think that is enough time for the NFL to put replacement referees if this deal goes to because the negotiations is still ongoing? And you want to put replacement referees on the football field. We're talking about in 60 days, basically 60 to 90 days. After they've been trained, there's no way they can

10:18learn and make all the calls that need to be made in a professional football game. Maybe not even college. In 90 days, and you put these guys on the football and say, you know what, you guys go out there and call this football game. The deal ends on May 31st, too, by the way. So the official lockout would take place on May 31st. So you're talking about May 1st is when they start training. They start training. So that now knowing that a lockout is looming, May 1st, and then the deal ends on May 31st. Where are the replacement referees training? Are they training together with the regular reps or y'all walking in the room? And it's like, hey, you're a replacement. I'm a regular guy. Are y'all all in the same lockout room together where those conversations look at like, you know what? What is the training consist of? I mean, where are you finding these guys at?

11:19Yeah, I don't know. I don't know where you get them from. I mean, do you get them from, you know, and I don't think that it's possible that you can take them from the power for referees. You can't take them from there. So you'd have to assume that you got to go to a lower level of college. Like maybe, I don't know. High school. Maybe even high school. Maybe even high school for the replacements. I don't know, but I just, I just wonder if you're and listen to NFL executive vice president, Jeff Miller, he says he believes the opportunity here to improve officiating and improve the performance and improve the accountability around it is something that, that, you know, they're looking for. It's not really so much, it's not so much the issue of of those things that are in question. It's the issue of the value and what they want out of it and the union

12:22is not willing to budge on what their beliefs are and what it is that they're demanding. And what they want to get done. And I just, I just wonder for all of the conversations that are taking place to be this far along and there's still not be a real resolution looming, a real solution that is coming to the forefront. All this energy being spent talking about there being replacements. Why isn't that energy getting a deal done, right? Exactly. You know what I'm saying, like with all of the, with all of the action that it's going to take to actually replace locked out, the locked out reps, why can't you take that energy and apply it to getting the deal done so that this isn't even, you know, any confusion? Is it overstated, Plex? Is this, is this one of those entertainment moments? Like, okay, it makes for good TV to have this conversation?

13:23You know, I don't understand how you can improve the count or the accountability that the NFL wants to hold itself to around the game and we're talking about replacement referees. The game is not getting better. You can't make it better with replacements. You can't, you cannot make it better. That's correct. That's fine. You just have to have to find a way to get the deal done and put the, put the referees that need to be on the football field on Sunday. We're talking about May 1st, a lockout on May 31st. Teams are already being minicamp. So these referees, I would assume, would be training at the facilities during these training camps, sitting in teen meetings and getting their live training on the football field during minicamp. That's the only thing I can really think of. I don't know, man, it seems like this could get uglier

14:25before it gets better. I just don't understand how you would allow another lockout to take place with the referees. And for what it's worth, how would you let it happen with the players too? I just, if I'm the NFL, I'm figuring out a way to make sure that, you know, this doesn't happen. But with that being said, both sides got to play ball. Two sides to every story. I'm sure there's some valid reasons and some points that the owners would make in terms of why this has drug out as far as it has. But I'd also say there's probably great explanation and reason and justification on the referees side of it as well. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out because I'll tell you what, a lockout, I do not believe in the matter of control. Because generally, that's what all this is about is leveraging and having a measured level of control in the relationship. I don't think either side benefits from a lockout. And I don't think either side benefits

15:26from there not being a harmonious movement and how they work together. So hopefully they get that worked out before we get to any games and see any replacement referees. Sorry to the replacement guys. I may have an opportunity to get out there. I know they probably create an opportunity for you, but I would much rather see the referees that are supposed to be out there before we get there. You dig, that's all I'm saying. I played for the plaza packers. Did you feel like it translated to what you would eventually become and being an elite receiver at the high school college and pro level? Yeah. I would have to say so. I would have to say so. My mom just took me to the football field.

25:39She dropped me off. She said, go play and I'll be back to get you. Okay. I got back in I got back in the car. She said, what do you think? I said, I love it. And that was basically it from there. Okay. They say it's one of the fastest growing sports approximately 20 million players worldwide world. Not not not nationwide. The new professional league completes a pathway that spans youth play high school and collegiate programs professional competition and ultimately the Olympics that are coming to Los Angeles in 2028. You got some heavy weights that are investing in it. You have former players and Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Larry Fitzgerald. We all know Tom Brady. There's a laundry list of guys. And there are also some current players,

26:39Eric Armstead, Bobby Wagner, Russell Wilson. And then you got some interesting names like Billy Jean King, you know, obviously tennis great. And Serena Williams being a part of those names, which Serena, you know, has been a part of investing with the Miami Dolphins as well. So she's no stranger to the arena of football. I guess we'll approach this conversation from the angle plex of to me, I look at it as it's a wave. If you if you've had an industry where it's gone like, I know my kids played in I nine. And I got to be honest with you. I have a son that is probably two to three years away from most likely potentially if everything goes away supposed to go getting drafted to the national football league. And his sister was better than him. What?

27:39Hey, man. Hey, man. I coached I nine flag football. And Marley Aarrington was my my ringer. That was that was my if I needed to get the lead. If we needed to win the game. If we needed a player erased by a defender. I did it with Marley, not with man. Right. She was faster than everybody. She was better than everybody. And that's just what it was. But we've never really pushed our daughters in the direction of playing football. I think in a way. I have the idea and the thought process of why I think this is happening now. But in a way, I think this is really cool. In the sense that you're creating an alternate opportunity. An option for football lovers of all kinds.

28:40It doesn't matter if you're of a dude or a dude that it doesn't matter. Like you now have an opportunity to take a sport. They've they've now implemented it at the high school level. So you're seeing girls and boys flag at the high school levels. Now that took place. So it's not just a youth thing or club thing. It is actually a real sport at at the high school level. I think that then I felt is is trying to catch the wave here. And the people who are helping to build this professional league. Are trying to catch the wave. I got another thought for you. But I'ma let you give me your opinion on it. What's at a first glance of it? First blush. What's your take on it? You know what? I did not know that girls flag football was a high school sport the last season. Yeah. The coach came in and asked me. Can your daughter play football for us? It's like, what are you talking about? He said, Oh, we play flag football. She's just starting quarterback right now.

29:41Oh, wow. At her high school. Okay. And she wears number 17. I think that's something. Yeah. She plays free safety. They're in a too hard shell last year. The coach tell her to disguise a defense. She's up in the and all up in the A gap. Like she's throwing a pile of molo trying to get back on the hatch. I'm like, what are you doing? Right. But yeah, man. It's a phenomenon that has been taking place. I think that the NFL and all the investors have recognized this. But I want to tell you this. So the NFL, this is the statement that they put out. TMR sports, TMR W sports was chosen following a competitive evaluation process. Do you know who owns TMR W sports? Eldrick Todd. Todd. Kid the Todd. He owns the company that the NFL has partnered with.

30:44That's crazy. Moving forward. That's Tiger Woods, y'all. Eldrick is Tiger. Yes. I was yesterday years old when I found out that Tiger Woods is real name with Eldrick Todd. Who? Yeah, so the NFL has partnered with Tiger Woods in his company. So, yeah, man. So that would explain some of the other names that I mentioned. Now that makes more sense. That's interesting. I just want to, you know, see how this whole thing is going to work out. Are they going to be former players like owning teams? Are former players going to be playing professional flag football? What does it look like for the Olympics? How is the selection process going to go moving forward? But I believe it's also a development, you know, a platform for, you know, these kids, these young girls, moving forward and giving them an opportunity to do something that we never, that thought that we will see

31:51from a high school sports is young women playing flag football. And I tend to, I tend these games for my daughter at her high school at the Paul Catholic and the games are packed. Yeah. I mean, it's very energetic. These girls, they really go out there and get after. Oh, yeah. And that's like, oh, man, they can run. Yeah. I mean, so I told my daughter, I said, why can't, why can't, why don't you knock her hand down when she goes to grab your flag? I said, you can't do that. I was like, what? We used to be able to do that when I was growing up, but you can't shield your flag. You can't shield your flag. Yeah. I didn't know that. You want to know what the, the cheat code is and flag football? What is the spin move? Oh, yeah. The spin move totally jacks you up trying to get a hold of it as for all the flag coaches out there. Teach to spin move because in flag football, that's what it is. Plex, let me throw this out at you, man, because you just mentioned something a good word there. And you said development.

32:51This creates the platform and the opportunity for development. It's now no longer going to be considered to be recreational. You can actually take this to a professional level. I don't know if they're going to create a draft, but I mean, if you think about it, if you have help and buy in from the National Football League, and this doesn't seem to look like or be a competitor to the NFL, but ultimately a compliment. We just talked about the UFL on, on the show yesterday and, and how that doesn't seem to be a league where people like buy into it, really, really support it and watch it. Sorry, buddy. That hit me on social and said that I don't watch the games and I don't know enough in your disappoint. Sorry, but that's just the reality of what the information says is that it's just not a Uberly popular league. It's just not. It's a great opportunity for guys to try to get some filming, get to the next level if possible, but it's far and few in between that you see the success stories connected to this league.

33:58Well, maybe it doesn't have to be a success story to making it to the league in terms of the National Football League, right? You prepare yourself to be able to try to make it playing at the flag level. I look at it from the standpoint of you talk about the overseas games. The overseas games are going up. They're not like the number of of games being played abroad is is taken off. Now we're talking about flag football. It makes me question and wonder. Has Roger Gidele identified and team have they identified that there's a potential hitting of the ceiling of the growth of professional football? You're looking for a different market and and and the overseas market and now you're touching on flag. Flag says to me safety for one because you've had to try to fight and overcome the CTE epidemic that hit the whole phenomenon of talking about a head health and and all of those different issues that come with the CTE conversation and concussions.

35:14That has still been a I mean, the participation in tackle football is down. It's down and and and participation at the high school level. So and after you level, obviously, it's it's dramatically down at the youth level. So when you look at an alternative like flag, not only are you able to to get, you know, more participation from young men, young boys. But now you're able to also include another audience that you you're seemingly see a more aggressive approach. We've seen the Taylor Swift in years past. Now this year was Cardi B and how they incorporate trying to to bring the woman viewer into the participation of being a fan of the national football league. Well, what better way to do it if you acclimate them to playing football at a young age and they had the opportunity to play it through high school, through college and into the pros. Well, there has to be something there that that they are planning because all 32 NFL teams are invested in this.

36:22So that tells you that if something there, do you think that maybe one day that flag football will reach division once college? Yes. And it will be giving out scholarships to play flag football. I would say that flag football has the potential to be a bigger sport, a sport, a bigger sport than the most college sports that are big sports at the college level. Like like flag football, the potential of flag football could could I don't I don't think it gets bigger than basketball, but it could be right there right right after basketball. Like right after basketball, like we're talking other sports, you know, baseball men and women, men and women, I think it has the potential to grow that big. And again, it comes from building the popularity of it. I mean, what better way to go about building the popularity of a sport that has already existed, right?

37:25You're not creating it from scratch. You know, this already existed and you're taking it and you're putting it, you're hopping it up by having the national football league get behind it. Now, by being able to support it and say this is good and you see the development of it, there's going to be there's going to be plenty of business opportunities and the integration of flag football. I think it has tremendous tremendous tremendous potential connected to it. Do you say potential business opportunities? Do you think that this this professional fact football league will get to the point maybe one day where the players will be getting paid? Yes. Yeah, I do. Now, how much that is? I don't know and it's not I don't think it says I think the reason why I don't think it's just lucrative out the NFL. It won't even remotely come close, but what you can say is is that it's it's it's very it's very manageable.

38:29It's a manageable sport. And you know, I watched how I learned how I nine ran their flag leagues. I feel like the amount of growth that you could create at the the lower levels is crazy. If you're looking at it from a business model of a funnel to professional men and women flag champion flag pro league. And you have that pipeline. The business model of it is I think it's profound because that you don't have that with tackle football anymore. You have very it's crazy. You have very elite youth organizations. You don't really have very casual football anymore. Not at the youth level, not at the high school level. It's not very casual anymore. I had teams that I coach. Plex that had 20 players, 20 players. Tell me in what world you can have a football team where you could get through a four quarter game of football with 20 players.

39:35But that's what these coaches in these high schools are facing these days. And some programs are going away. You look at flag football. What would be an amazing alternative for for insurance purposes liability purposes. What would be a great replacement to having fielding a football team. I can feel a really good flag football team with less than 20 players. Right. So to me, I'm looking at all of the things that are connected to what flag football represents. And it says to me, it just screams great opportunity to build a foundation for what the sport represents without it being connected to tackle football. Because again, if you even look at the NFL, the NFL now has become more corporate. It's not this conversation has become a pretty large conversation is that it's not a past time anymore.

40:37When you call sports past times, past time is literally again, I've said this before, it's literally the passing of the time you get your kids. Oh, go get your kids and get out of the house. Go do something with yourself. What are you going to do? I don't know. We got to find something to pass the time. So you take your kids and you go to the park and the park was the football field where you're watching your favorite football players play football. You sit around the radio. You're passing time, listening to baseball games. I don't even need to see the game. I just want to sit around the board day guy want to sit around at the house on the porch. I want to sit somewhere and I want to listen to the game. Don't even need to see it. Just want to listen to it. I'm passing time. Now it's money. It's money. And it's it's pricing out the NFL and that experience is pricing out the regular fan. So in some regards and in some ways, you're potentially creating alternatives for entertainment and not to mention streaming opportunities, you know, TV opportunities.

41:47What does that look like potentially moving into the future where you have these personalities and major brands that are investing in it like Eldrick that can move the needle on what's taking place. I say that this is a very intriguing topic that's worth paying attention to because it could be a ground swell connected to flag football, the growth of flag football. It's been a tremendous push by the league. It could end up being a really, really power player in the sports arena. I give you the last word on it. Yeah, it also gives the kids an avenue to go out and play a sport that they love if they don't want to play tackle football. And you see that happening also. And I think this is also the NFL coming in and saying they like they are cognizant of the safety issues with tackle football and the physical quality of it.

42:47And it gives these kids another option to be able to go out and play the sport that they love in this flag football. Well, we'll see how it all plays out. There's something there where there's smoke. There's fire. The reason why all these cats is getting in right now. It's because they see an opportunity. You just know that I saw the honey Jones's name in there. You know, you know, you know, you know what's something going on. Yeah, there's something going on. They know something that everybody else is not paying attention to. So I'm especially patented and Tom Brady. Yeah, if you're in the video games, I don't that they don't have a video game for flag football yet. That'll be interesting. How you do that? And they're going to be kind of relevant if you think about it. So here's the twist. This year they have chosen your Super Bowl champion. I'm sorry. My Super Bowl champion. It's your Super Bowl champs. Okay. Yeah. So they're your one. Okay. Here's your two. Okay. New England Patriots for year two. They're going with relevancy, I guess. I will say, I will say.

51:11I mean, my variable is must see TV all alone, all by himself. I watch New England Patriots. Even with winning the Super Bowl, I got to try to figure out why it would be interesting to watch the Seahawks. I just got to be honest with you there. What's your take on it, though, Plex? I mean, I can see the Seahawks because a lot of people, you know, we don't get to see the Seahawks on the East Coast a lot. So that would be intriguing for us. And also, the New England Patriots are on the way up. I think they're back of raised the new head coach. And he's bringing that old-school New England Patriot culture back there. And I just think we're going forward, you know, for the next four or five years. The Patriots are going to be one of the top teams in the AFC. I don't disagree with you on that. I know Jonas and Q don't be so high on them. I mean, I guess they cite the fact that they had a pretty easy schedule this past year,

52:14but I think they're pretty good, man. I think it's a pretty good football team. And they're only going to get, I mean, it's year one. It's year one, you know, I don't know. I'm curious to see because we saw a really, really quick start from Washington. And then they took a step back under Dan Quinn in year two. I wonder if they can't continue to momentum. But anyway, just even seeing him at the workouts and grabbing up dudes and them grabbing him up and him working with him. I love to hear his thought process on it. What he's feeling all that good stuff. Anyway, Patty, what else we got, man? All right, so we're going to stay on like broadcasting issue. So Netflix, we know streams NFL games here. They are actually looking to expand maybe two to four games in a new right steel, including they want to cover holiday. Actually, actually Thanksgiving Eve in particular, which would be a Wednesday night. I feel about flex. Hey, just trying to take over everything. Yeah. I think you see the NFL is corporate. They are going to find a way to put this brand on every stream and surface

53:17that they possibly can to generate that coin. Yeah. I just feel like streaming is where everything is going. Everything. How long until everything is streamed to me is not a matter of if it's a matter of win. And so it's no surprise to me. No surprise to me. Well, she got. All right. Here's the last one I got for you. So we mentioned it earlier on the show. Maybe a couple weeks ago with the whole Super Bowl location stuff. And where are we thinking the three years from now is going to be? Well, it's officially official now, guys. Super Bowl LXII can't spell it out. The numerals here. But three years from now is set in Las Vegas. Everybody. Viva. Viva. Las Vegas. So we're going to Vegas in three years, guys. Going back, man. Hey, Las Vegas is a destination when the Super Bowl is not in Las Vegas. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when the game is being played.
