So that so the Yankees, it just doesn't feel like it's going to be the division, but we'll keep an eye on that. But last night. You know, you hate to be repetitive because we did a lot of it yesterday, but Peter Lonzo finally hit home run number 300. He did it in grand fashion with one out the bottom of top half of the ninth inning with the meds. You know, trying to win a game and tie and the game they would eventually lose an extra innings. And we kind of thought about like how would the broadcast sound. Yeah, because it's even though they love Peter Lonzo. And he's the former met and how he rose and Gary Cohen are very familiar with going on at city feel or city feel became cammed in yards North.

7:52What would their calls be? Yeah of this home run. Well, the great how he rose who right now is down to his last four games, right? He's got the game tonight. And then he's got the three games against the Philadelphia or the four against Philadelphia. Sorry. So he's down to four after today. Called Peter Lonzo's home run number 300 that tied the game in the top half of the ninth inning right here on 888. The two from Senga swing and a drive. Well, hit the left. So can only watch it. His 300th career home run that he is getting a standing ovation from the crowd here at city feel. You know, it's interesting about the call a lot. I have a lot of thoughts on them. That's how like a sounded like an angry like a frustration.

9:02Yeah, it didn't sound great. And then underneath it, you can hear cheers, but well, he said standing ovation. Now remember, he said it. Right. He's right. But it's amazing how because of where he is in the booth proximity of the book of the radio booth in the crowd. And then the microphones, it picked up more negative reaction than the TV called it. All here is the TV call from Gary. Come on. Isn't it? That's a lot. Yeah, well, they got you. Keith credit. It's my face. You know what? Thank you, Keith. Yeah. Because I heard it. I didn't see it last night. So because again, I just can't get enough out. We only got a handful of games left that I want. And I wanted to list so come all in. So and I was putting the kids to bed and I had it on the radio. Sure. And I, I didn't hear Keith say that.

10:03And so that's the drop bike moment for all the people. How do you do that? What kind of met fan of you? There's Mr. Met basically Keith Hernandez saying good job, met fans. Well done, met fans. Come on. Give me a look. Confirm you know, did you don't know if you could catch the video. S and Y put out video of the guys in the booth. Now they weren't in the booth, right? They were, it looked like they were in the crowd. Like sometimes they do that. Right. Because they had people behind them. And I don't normally remember that. But they, they literally as a Gary, I give him credit because he doesn't say it's out of here. That you could tell that was on like on the time. That's what he should do it. That's only for Matt. So he did the right thing there. But he still put the appropriate amount of energy into the call. But the look that Keith and Ron give each other. The minute you hear the crack of the bat. They're both like, they had that look of, oh yeah, this is gone. Like they both knew right away. You can tell it was miked up differently though because clearly on television, you hear the old

11:07television. I was watching it. I was watching it live. And it was, it was tremendous. Now here's, here's the O's broadcast. They'll give you a third version with Kevin Brown. See later you hear booing. And I don't even know was the booing. It was, was it the booing for the cheering or was it the booing of stirns? Yeah, I don't know. The translate this crazy, but watch it. I listen. There's, there's, there's definitely a motion there. Now the reason I bring this up is because for the first time, I gave you all of my emotions yesterday. But I got a lot of pushback last night from people I know texting me. Now it's gone too far. All right. I understood the first day you cheer them. But now it cost us a lead.

12:11You're cheering for we can lose this game now. And I say to these people, so what? You're 12 games under 500. What the heck matters? Are you sitting there at the edge of your seat, leaning back and forth rubbing your hands? They got a, I hope singing can close this out. If you do get a life. Oh, yeah. Met fans are have a bistero reaction to what's going on here. And just like last night's crowd was hoping he hit the 300th on run. And now all of a sudden you're going to wait because it's going to tie the game in the ninth inning. You don't want them to do it. Now listen, if the meds are in a pennant race, of course, you throw that out the door. It got to have the meds win the game. Yes. But at this point, this is your opportunity to express your displeasure. Besides, it tied the game. You could stoop win the game and extra innings, which you didn't do. And you lost anyway. Well bottom. Yeah, the bottom of the ninth. The bottom of the ninth inning or extra innings to be able to win the game. So it wasn't like it. It wasn't like you were in Baltimore. And they won the game. The games over the game still going on. But why would it? Why would the reaction change? And this is coming from you know, Mr.

13:13The judge fraud here, judge LaGrecca deciding on fraud. To me, this is the only way the met fans should react. And the fact that Keith Hernandez said that. Keith Hernandez. All right. His numbers retired. He's in the Met's Hall of Fame. He's been their broadcaster longer than he's been on the team. He bleeds blue and orange saying way to go, Matt fans, like understand that this is exactly how you should respond. Yep. And Peter said, so the really interesting. And Peter's a perfect person to chime in on it. You're not a Matt fan. He's sort of an Orioles fan. What does that even mean? And you you even said, I don't even know how there's another side to this. I just I just don't really get it. I I I was I'm on a group text with my friends in Maryland. Two of which are big met fans. Interesting. One of which lives in Baltimore. So goes to a lot of Orioles games, but he's a met fan. When the met's last made the play. Which playoff year was it three years ago, some of that 24. Yeah, I got was it. No, I haven't 24 might have been like the one before that. Okay.

14:17Recently, I got tickets. He drove up from 22 when they played San Diego. So it was 22. He drove up from Maryland, went to the Met's game together. He's a big met. They're both in my chat sending that clip around with excitement. There was no like I can't believe the met's that the only thing was I can't believe we let him go. That's all there was. They can't believe he's gone. It continues to be that emotion. This is the other side, but to me, this now kind of puts closure to it, though. Can I at least say that? Oh, we're done now. Like we're good now. It's not like if they put you know, it comes into the building next year or whatever it is again, like I think it's over now. This this, this was the closure moment. Was it not? You would think so. This is the right thing to do, but that's it now. It's a good point. I wouldn't expect this to kick to carry on constantly. It's interesting because there will be people who didn't get a chance to go and didn't get a chance to express their displeasure to feel like all right, I got one more chance to do it because that it becomes a thing, right?

15:18Like, oh, let's go boo the mats. Let's go cheer for Pete. But for all of the vitriol, I think you've already got it out of your system. Pete's already hit the home run. Now I will say as much as I'm not going to kill met fans if they do it. Because there are people that felt like they didn't get a chance to do it. We'll look at and go, okay, we're good. I think you've made your point and you had your might be slight overkill at this point. It the stories over. He's hit the home run. And let's just get back to just not carrying again. I get you know what I'm saying? You had the moment. You had your moment. Like there's nothing more to do at this point. It was still a pretty remarkable compelling night. It was it had me want. I was dialed in. Well, I'm watching this thing because I was checking just to say is he going to when's the next time he's up and I kept tuning in to see his at bats because I was curious. Like why would I care? Because it was felt like an interesting moment. And when he hit that thing, I was like, oh my god.

16:19Like you just felt like he was going to do it during this series. You just felt like it. And everything after the fact with him, by the way, top shelf. Like he really does get it. High class, whatever thing he said. And then how also he was with the kid that caught the ball and his two other friends. And then he's son and jerseys bats. He's talking to him like there. Like he he was talking to him like it was just a regular guy talking to it was he handled it so well. Guy has a halo over his head right now. Now Peter and I had a lot of fun. When Pete first came up kind of saying that he was like nerdy and all that. And I can't speak for Peter, but please don't speak for for me. I don't think we meant it negative. It was just like he's just he's Pete. He's kind of awkward. He's kind of goofy. And the analogy that I always give in comparison to judge is that judge is the guy at the pool party with the khakis and the polo shirt hanging out the bar.

17:22And Peter Lonzo is doing cannibals in the pool. Like, and there's another one. And then the water splashed all over the room and they don't again, but you know what? And again, I don't think you ever meant it as negative. It was just an observation. People relate to the cannibal guy. Because people think of themselves as the cannibal guy. So they relate to Pete and even though Pete's a multi-millionaire and Pete's famous and Pete's a ball player. Fans can be alike. I get that man. I get him. And they talked about it on the morning show too. Like I get not wanting to be one. I get be entomped by that girl. I get losing that job. And Pete's supposed to be a met and he's not and they just relate to him. Maybe maybe more than any other former athlete. He's very relatable. And that's what and you just said it the way he reacted to the fans after the game and every the way he's handed a whole thing. I mean, what would you even call what he did with his bat? Because flip is not.

18:23I mean, it was it was literally like a it was like a shove. I mean, speaking of the point of what you're saying about just he's not naturally cool. It was the single worst bat flip. I've ever he literally he was like through it. He was like while he threw it like a football. Oh, I mean, if you first like Dave Rothenberg throw a job. No, it was like it was like race anti-Ago throw football. It wasn't like a pro-abba. Have you had a throw? To go back and watch what I have watched it. But it's part of the chart. But then you see who he is when he meets the guys. He's so cool. Yeah, he's not the coolest athlete who's ever been. In fact, I'd say he's quite on the opposite. But he's charming. Cannibal is that he's exactly is a lovable guy. A bad beat. A bad flip. He's smoothing with the girls at the bar. It's pulling in your glasses. You know, you know, that's not Pete. You know, sipping on a margarita watching all the other. Yo, yo, yo, yo, it's how fun. Right? No, it beats version is showing up to the party with a shirt that says who farted on it. And it's about to back because I'm this because I'm this way. I don't know if you've ever been in these situations where you're

19:28excited and happy and it kind of comes across to people that you're angry. You know, like you're celebrating, but it comes across for people who don't know if they're the Howard E. N. Audio in here by the show. Look from afar. They're like, why is Don so angry? Like, no, it's like, wow, that's just him, man. And people relate to that. And he threw the bat. Yeah, he's because that's Pete. And this is was his reaction after the game to the fans wanting him to come out for a curtain call. I wanted to do. I was saying go out there and they're right. He was surprised by the reaction. I appreciate the, I mean, all the support, especially I mean, again, for all years out here, all the life lived here. I mean, obviously they're recognizing that and they appreciate that. It's a two way show. You really ever really appreciate it. That's a cool moment. And he also done suggested something that I know you've always as a guy who is the arbiter of fraud. Say that this is actually legal in the world of

20:28fraud. And that is he said, you know, you can be Orioles fan. If you're a met's fan, it's okay to be an Orioles fan too. It was very fraud Friday conversation, you know, I know it's frowned upon or whatever, but you can always have a second team. You can always read for the Orioles guy. So goes, I mean, what American league team, you know, separate. Yeah. So if you want to have a second secondary team, you can always, you know, always read for the O's. I think he listens. Right. Because we've kind of made fraud a thing. He's aware of this. But I know it's frowned upon. But let's play the game. Like if it's Friday at 430 and somebody called in and said, listen, I'm a met fan. I'm always going to be a met fan. But as long as Pete's on Baltimore or any other place he goes, that's going to be my second favorite team is long. As he doesn't end up, you know, Yankee or brave or a Philly or a Marlin. I'm going to root. If he stays in Baltimore for the rest of his career, my second favorite team is going to be the Baltimore. I would rule no fraud. Because they're not a wrong. They're not the same league in a meaningful game.

21:31If if the Orioles beat the Metz in a meaningful, I mean, yeah, a meaningful game because of Pete. And you then share that. That's a fraud. But as long as you're always shooting rooting for the Metz in meaningful games over the Orioles. This is the last time a met fan should be this. This boisterous about a Lonzo doing something against your team. You would hope so. You can still if he hits a home on against you in the future, just be like, oh, there he is. There's Pete. But there's no reason to do that anymore. I think this was appropriate last night. It was fully appropriate. And I don't think it needs to continue beyond this. Now, if you want to send him off last at bat, you know, of the series. And you want to send him off with a nice little ovation. That's fine. But I think last night was sort of the cathartic moment for the frustrated met fan who hated seeing him go and wanted to send a message to the organization that we're not happy. But I think message now has been received. That's right. Well, it should be got the home run. So I think we can cool the

22:37jets. That's it. All right. I know there's one more game. I'm sure there's people who said, you know what? I even get a chance to do. All right, go ahead. Have that. But that's fine. But the story's over. As far as I'm going to send them off with the with an ovation tonight. That's great. Like you want to do that. Fine. But there's no reason to do anything beyond that now. Yeah. This was the moment it was had and it's over. And you got to realize too that you're trying to send the message and hopefully the message was received better be. And that they they get better next off season. And that this now becomes a move point that the meds get back to start winning some games and and trying to get back into the playoffs. 29:05If it was just because you're trying to save him for the post season. Well, then what you're saying you're taking a knee on the division and I know it's still four games back of the lost column with 11 to play is a lot. But you do have those four games left with the race so technically as long as you stay within four you control at least getting a tie. I take it back if you if you sweep the four you would then have the tie breaker because you would then win the season series and you would control your own destiny going into the final three games of the season. Again, you they took him out before is that bad like he could have had an at bat then you take him right that that's the part that's very odd about well it feels like comment like it all right after the third at bad you take him out. Do you remember the show walk the first year? That was like an awesome hundred win team. We got chased down by Atlanta. Yes. And in the beginning of the year, he was like, I'm not a D H. When you had Don Smith who was like clearly better defensively and viable to put in the line up against right. He's like, I feel like and then they went and they got those two bombs at the trade deadline that ruined that whole group and probably shit show.

31:09They're out eventually like he's got to take a little bit of responsibility like he did this to himself. Could you imagine Jalen Blumson saying I shoot the ball like he should have been like whatever the team needs. You know, like and I just wanted to get off that chest and I love Peter Lander like you know, I didn't want to see him go, but I feel like he did this to himself. You know, Boris and then I thought that was a real selfish moves back then, but we had a real big team. A good shot. But all okay and I'm not going to argue. I'm not saying that Pete isn't you know, is the perfect player, but he is all that a reason for him to be shipped out and not be brought back. You know, just think that if that team doesn't get chased down, we don't have to sign the H's like we did. We don't. You know, like that that whole season could have been different. We don't play in the wild card. Maybe show up is still here. Who knows? You know, like I think you just tank that season.

32:14But now you fast forward the 23. All right, not great. 24. You go to the playoffs. He hits this gargantuan home run. So you're saying that if Sterns felt that he was selfish and that's why he's not here. He went from offering him a seven year contract. The as a bad year and then it gets reduced down to three. It's a combination. You just said yourself. You love Pete and the fans love Pete. This love for Pete is also a manifestation of their hatred for David Sterns and the bets right now. And where the bets are as a team. So as they're cheering Pete Alonzo, it's also saying, Hey, we also notice the fact that your 12 games under 500. Your your pivot at first base never played the position before and can't stay on the field. So it's a combination of the two. So don't sit there and nitpick. Well, Pete did this and Pete did that and Pete could have done this differently. Sure, I get it. But does that change guys? The fact that Pete should be the first basement of the New York Mets in 2026 and beyond.

33:19No. No, again, it was decision they made. I don't have a like like, like, kick me wrong. I don't have a problem with the decision of moving on from Pete Alonzo in the prison of we can do better. Right. And upgrade. You'd always try to do better. You're right. But I'm saying that had to have been the feeling is with that money, we could probably get better or do more or get something that fits better with what we need. They didn't do that. That to me is what's egregious. Moving on from a beloved player only is acceptable. If you replace him with a player who's just clearly better and everybody goes, well, that made sense. The problem is you didn't do that. That's that's tells me you didn't have a plan where you had to at least get better somewhere on the team because of the money that was saved on Pete. And then you had to have at least first base become serviceable. So somewhere you got a lot of because you can't have both neither happy if Polanco had the exact same season couldn't stay on the field.

34:22First base was at Albatross all year and the meds had 93 wins and had a five game lead in the division. Nobody would care. No, but there had to have been somebody else then that performed at a level of 35 homeruns and a hundred or be they are angry at David Stern's a for that bringing Pete back and be because they said it being this back. Yes, because I'm one of those fans. All right. I'm not in love with letting all these guys go, but you know what? I'm willing to give them the benefit of that. He thinks he can do better. Let's see if he can. And you go from 83 wins to what are they going to have this year? 70 to something like that. Well, that it didn't work. And I said, if it doesn't work, I'll be the first in line. I'm passionate. That's what the fans are doing. So yeah, it's partially a love fest for Pete, but it's also using Pete to get back at the meds. Also, I do want to I do want to amend the the bat throw from Pete. It's in slow mo. It's I wouldn't call it graceful, but it's very purposeful. Oh, yeah. And like and when I when you watch it in fast motion, it to me at least I watch a bunch of times. It just didn't look very cool. But when you watch it in slow mo and you could see more of the anger in the throw. That's what that was. That it hits a little different. It does. That had a little bit of an F in a you in it. It really it did. Oh, yeah. No, you watch it in slow mo. You can see his anger, but that's as much as much as I was about, which is why I said.

35:49That it's over now. You got your closure. We're done. Now he's an orio. He moves on because your anger is in what the result. The fact that he's not here because look at his contract and look at the Baltimore Orioles. They signed him. Why did they sign him? They thought his production could help them win. They're not winning. So the Orioles are also kind of in a place where they've got a guy. They're paying them a lot of money. And yes, he's productive, but it's not leading to winning. It's not his fault, but that's reality. So one way or another Pete could have been on a team that he's making this money and they're losing. But if you had done a better job replacing him and your team was successful, fans wouldn't be doing this. The only reason why this is happening is because you let go somebody they love and you got worse. That's what this is about. So don't blame anybody but yourself. The med organization only has to look in the mirror to understand why this is happening. This is not about the fans. The fans are doing exactly what fans do when the situation is calls for exactly what it called for. Well, the meds fans love Pete, but you know they love more than Pete winning. And they're not winning. So that anger is really what they love Pete, but this. This over the top reaction to Pete is also being fueled.

37:11By how much they hate David Sterns and the meds right now hate them because of where they are in the standings last place. Phil's in Brooklyn, you're on ESPN New York. Well, I don't think that a dog is that was a good day for Williams. That would have been right. It would have felt better. Now if a lot of the last time that seven year contract, we'll see David Sterns by wonderful GM was on a real cross the jack job was all the other thing. Who should say he wouldn't try to them? He didn't know. He did not want him on the team. Not because he didn't like him. He just thought he could do better. Now we'll see how there may be a point where Alonzo kind of loses it. Maybe gets banged up the last two, three years of his contract and Baltimore are awful. And the meds kind of figure it out and start winning where Sterns could have I told you so moment. Yeah, he might.

38:13We're going to have to see how this old age is, but right now in the first year of it, it is aged poorly. And as much as Steve Cohen has his back right now, we'll Steve have his back a year from now. If this team misses the playoffs again and the next he's reincarnation of the meds is just as bad as this one. He's got to be on the hot seat. Don't come on. After next year, this time next year, we're talking about a team. It's going to five on the next year. During next year, on the hot seat going into it. I think you're the first couple of months. It better look right. If they had to do, if it's the same thing as this year, we're by the break you're talking about. Who are we getting rid of? It's time to sell again. He's got to be. I'm not saying you got to kill yourself to do it but you shouldn't be resting Aaron judge it a two run game in the sixth inning because you're looking at the bigger picture with the bigger picture right now to me with 11 games counting this one left is. Can we catch the raise now if you didn't have those four games left with the raise it may be different story because now you're going to need help but you do as long as you keep it four games guys you do control your own destiny because if you sweep the four games as difficult as that could be because it's a double header and that's tough to sweep. You would then take the tiebreaker and go into the final three games of the season controlling your own destiny but again we're jumping to conclusions we don't know what it is but I don't like it if it's hey we're giving up on the division and you certainly don't like it if it's an injury well.

42:38I'm just one looking first of all already actually said in the broadcast it's got to be for something to take him out of that point with yeah there's also his previous have a his second at bat. He had a couple of uncomfortable swings and he looked like after the swing is over he kind of like was like almost like holding him like holding his. Brian posture like for a second and anybody's ever had anything rib core related. Like that's kind of what happens there so little worried that this could be some discomfort that he's feeling well but if you watch this back the swing. He does grimace a little bit yeah and that could be that that changes I don't know if he's mad at the pitch or whatever I kind of grimaced as a look like. You know what it grimmis looks like. It's a pain grimmis it's a pain grimmis it's a pain grimmis it's like when you grit your teeth. Yeah but it also could be I missed that but again he could be mad at some say he could be mad at the pitch but it look it's weird that you would take him out if he was fine without letting him have one more at bat.

Yeah it sounds like it's something doesn't necessarily mean it has anything to do with the previous injury it doesn't necessarily mean it's anything catastrophic. Well I think you have to be yeah you can't not be concerned like it's the only thing you can be at this point of the season seeing him come back is hoping that there is no reactivation or something that now will keep him out because I'm with Griffin. There's like how could you possibly think this team hung in there enough in the second half without him to stay at least in an arms like close enough to say you're contending for the division which is remarkable because the last time they missed Aaron judge for three months they barely got the 500 for not mistaken. So yes that this is a concern that goes beyond losing him this is a concern that goes to how could they possibly be considered a world series contender without him now could they still make it of course they can make it where to the world series with great pitching only yeah and I will there are and they're all fighters and they're all offensive today is nothing.

48:16no one but the people who are speaking out against the fans don't care how they feel in this whole situation and I don't think the fans is are cheers and old patients for Pete was sticking it to the organization thing I think the fans genuinely love the guy and they're happy to see him do well and do well in that moment I disagree Mohammed I disagree I think I think it comes from their love of him but it also comes from the fact that they're hating on their organization and every cheer for Peter Lonzo is a boo to the meds Steve Cohen and David Stern because if this team was 10 games above 500 and battling for a wild card or battling the braze for first place they would have gave it they would have given him a nice ovation when he stepped at the plate and then it would have been over because they wouldn't be mad at the team and they'd be rooting for the team to win because the game meant something no this had a lot at least half of it had to do with how this team is felt by the
