Horse Trainer on Trial for Alleged Hockey Stick Attack

0:00On March 3rd, a 54-year-old horse trainer, known as Evan Williams, faces charges in court for allegedly beating a 72-year-old man with a hockey stick. The incident happened on December 4th, 2024, near his training facility in Land Carfan, Vale of Glamorgan. Williams denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Martin Dandridge, who was renting a nearby holiday cottage. At dark night around 9.30 pm, Dandridge was out walking his daughter's dog with a head torch and a light on the dog's collar. Their lights caught Williams' attention while he was near his paddocks. He thought Dandridge was poaching and drove up, soon followed by two nearby police officers monitoring rural crime. Williams confronted Dandridge, accusing him of being in his field with a light and dog. The prosecution says Williams then struck him multiple times on the chest, leg, arm and face with the hockey stick.
