I'm Cory with the story, and this is your Pulse of the City, Durham News today. The Charlotte Hornets just retired. Del Curry's number 30 jersey, honoring the sharpshooter who played his whole career there. His son, Steph Curry, the four-time NBA champ and two-time MVP, grew up around those games and now thinks the next jersey's up should go to Mugsy. Bugs and Kimber Walker, the team's top point guards ever. Mugsy Bugs joined the Hornets from day one in 1988 and became a fan favorite at just five with three, the shortest player in. League history. He still holds team records for assistant steals and ranks second in games played. Kimber Walker took over in the 2010s, becoming the all-time leading score by more than 2,000 points over Del Curry. He carried the team for eight seasons, bringing heart and smiles despite tough surroundings and now coaches there as an assistant. Steph Curry pointed out that, while the Hornets lack deep playoff runs, these guys defined eras, Mugsy with his grit and Kimber with his scoring.

They stayed tied to Charlotte in the community, making strong cases over flashier names like Alonzo Mourning or Larry Johnson, who left bigger marks, elsewhere, looking ahead, folks suggest hanging Mugsy's jersey in 2027 and Kimber's the next year, spacing them out to keep the moment special, before eyeing the rest.
