Class A, Upper State Championship at Batesburg-Leaseville High School. They crushed the second quarter by 28-5 points, building a massive half-time lead of 47-18. Earlier this season, the Hornets bounced back from a state semifinal loss last year by beating Abigail and then Horse Creek to reach this point. It's their first trip to the state title game since they won it all back in 2014. Coach Robert McCray praises players and the community for the strong support after the game. Standout performers included Javarius Weish with 23 points. Tony Odom adding 20 including six three-pointers and Jacob Walker Hair with 13. Now they face Bethune Bowman in the state championship at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. With momentum on their side, the Hornets are poised for a shot at the crown.
