Welcome to ARCO Rewards Orientation. I'm Hannah. Whoa. Is everything okay? That's a code green. Someone just earned at least five cents a gallon in rewards. Wow. Another one? Well that one's a code gold. The customer just redeemed savings above to a dollar a gallon. Impressive. What does that one mean? Oh, that's just picky. He gets excited when we talk about rewards. This is one of the leading savings of up to $1 per gallon redeemable with $20 rewards in your loyalty account. Participating locations, terms and conditions apply. I read some pretty big news. Donald Trump's administration is literally telling us that they are going to be meddling in our elections. It's not I'm not being a conspiracy theorist. They are giving press conferences saying that here's Mark William Molen saying that ICE is going to be at specific threats at polling locations. I was being very, very clear when I said ICE isn't there to patrol the polling places. We're there to enforce specific threats.
The only reason why we would be at polling places if there is a threat to that polling place or we're serving to yes or we're or we're serving a warrant on someone that we have been actively tracking down. We'll click while you're here. Hit like. Make sure more people see it and make sure you see the next one. And if you're not subscribed, look, you might not be subscribed. Hit subscribe as we head towards 1.4 million subscribers. And by the way, we're live streaming this Tuesday, 7pm Eastern. Come check it out. It's linked below. Now, one Democratic rep said that this is obviously meant to be voter intimidation. The US here, we've got, we're less than two months until election day for these midterms. And again, this week, DHS Secretary Mark Wain Molen refused to rule out the presence of ICE agents at polling places, essentially saying they could be deployed if there were specific threats, for example. But Chicago, parts of which you represent, has been the subject of severe and significant ice crackdowns during this administration.
What is your message to constituents who might be worried about this heading into this election season? I can understand their concern. I mean, we can see when Secretary Molen is not willing to rule out the use of ICE or DHS agents at polling places, when they see the president using the USPS, the Postal Service, in the way that he's doing to weaponize mail-in balloting, and to potentially suppress votes. And we also see the DOJ announcing that they might deploy 1,000, quote-unquote, election monitors, which, to many people, seem like people who will not be there to protect the right to vote, but to intimidate voters, I can understand why my constituents are very concerned. And Chicago, in particular, has been kind of targeted by the Trump administration in numerous unfair ways. And I can see why people would be concerned about the Trump administration targeting them,
and this area and my constituents as part of an election crackdown as well, because that's the only way, at this point, I think Trump sees himself being able to salvage the elections. We have to make sure that people vote early, and we put a check on the president, and at the same time conduct free and fair elections this November. And at least, I mean, at least some Democrats are raising the alarm on this. I'm glad one rep is talking about what this really means. I'm glad a better work is in Texas raising the alarm about what this actually means for election day. Here's that. There are going to be sending border patrol and ICE agents and CBP to the polling sites. And if you look Mexican, if your skin is a shade browner than mine, they're going to stop you, ask for your papers, send you back home, scare the rest of your family from even showing up. These 250 years of American history comes down to us tonight. You still have the chance to win this country.
The eyes of the future are upon us right now. What did we do when we had this before us? We need to be in the streets. So when that National Guard Unit in San Antonio is asked by Donald Trump on November 3rd to seize the ballot boxes, in that precinct in San Antonio, that Guard member says, I'm going to defy this illegal order. And I know that the American people, more importantly, the people of San Antonio are with me. And MS now actually did a really big report on this yesterday about how they are closing polling sites in Texas, because they're very worried that for the first time in a generation, a Democrat might win statewide. Here's a bit of that report. You don't have to think very hard to know what comes in super handy on Election Day. Polling places, which makes this story out of Texas, 58 days out from the midterms, Kuku. In Tarant County, one of the largest and most competitive counties in the entire state,
officials approved the plan to wipe out 92 different polling sites. This is a decision that was approved by three Republicans on the county's commissioners court and opposed by two Democrats, and it cuts nearly one-third. Let me say that one more time. A third of the counties polling stations, that is 92 less polling locations there compared to the 2022 midterm elections. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why that is even more concerning. Tarant County includes the city of Fort Worth and is home to more than two million people. Experts say the sheer size of the county has enough influence to determine which party controls the Senate. I'm not talking about just in Texas. I'm talking about the whole Senate. It used to be a reliably red Republican stronghold, but in recent years Tarant has become a political bell-weather for Texas. It even flipped blue in the 2020 presidential election for the first time since the 60s. County officials say the cuts are about efficiency. They claim it's going to save money and consolidate lower turnout sites
and keep voting locations accessible. Democrats and voting rights advocates and anybody who has a brain says the opposite. Now obviously when they do that, as Jacob Silveroff says here, it will directly impact how many Democrats are able to vote. They argue that the polling place is disappearing from your neighborhoods could be the reason that someone stays home on election day. The people who don't have cars, people who work long hours, people who just do not want to figure out where they are supposed to vote and make the trek when it gets confusing. To nobody's surprise, the backlash has been very intense. Earlier this week, protesters rallied and Tarant slamming the decision as border disenfranchisement. Residents of all ages, college students, retirees, everybody was confronting Republican officials to green with the cuts. They filled, look, multiple overflow rooms inside Tarant County Commissioners' Court. They got up to speak during a hearing that lasted almost three hours long.

The people of Tarant County are watching. America is watching. If you succeed in reducing polling locations to plan, you will be joining a long line of villains in U.S. history who have fought again. The first thing that happens is that the voters are in a position where they are not supposed to be punished. If it looks like voter suppression, it is voter suppression. We should be deeply troubled by any decision that makes voting harder, particularly when that burden falls disproportionately on communities of color. I'd love to know what you all think our tax dollars are for. They are to serve us. And I can't think of a better use of taxpayer money than to encourage and support the democratic process. Just to add an exclamation point on this, they are literally doing this because they are afraid that Tallerico can actually win. Tarant County is red, but like you said, it's almost blue. If it flips reliably to blue, the state of Texas flips. If the state of Texas flips, we know what that looks like for the country and they will do anything to stop that.
That's why I, Lanyl, mentioned that this could have such a disproportionate election. It's a disproportionate and consequential impact on people who are showing up to vote. The NAACP, ACLU of Texas, other groups said in the letter that the changes would hit voters of color of the harness because many of the closures are in so-called majority minority areas in Tarant County, Texas. Can you tell us a little bit more about that in particular? Yeah, we know exactly where they want the closures to happen. They want the closures to happen where they've done the polling and they're not winning. They want the closures to happen where they know that Tim, because Tim Elhair is up for reelection. Many Ramirez is up for reelection. These commissioners are up for reelection. And so yeah, of course they want to close the polling stations that are going to give votes to their opponents, right? And I will say, part of this, we believe, is retaliation. For those who have been following politics in Texas in January, we had a special election where a Democrat won the state Senate seat over a Maga Republican who was endorsed by Trump.
Her name is Lee Wombsghans. It was Taylor Rameh. He beat her, right? They've seen the maps. They know who's voting for Taylor Rameh and not Lee Wombsghans. And I do. We know. We know this is retaliation for the January vote where the Republican lost and they saw what happened. They've seen the maps. They've seen the polling. They know if we all turn out to vote in this county, they are going to lose. So they're doing everything they can to suppress that turnout. So we go is currently winning Tarrant County by says here seven points according to CBS News in Texas. Texas is a red state. And what this means is to flip this state blue, you have to gain everywhere. So right now in our current forecast, we have the entire race, basically a dead heat about 50, 50. But we have Tallery go winning Tarrant County by seven points. This is a county. Tallery go needs to carry to win the state. If he's not carrying it, he's not getting the voters in the northeastern portion of the county near North
Richland Hills to shift well enough in his direction, those upper middle class white voters. And if he's not doing well enough in the southern portion of the county with Hispanic voters, it's also an issue for him. So if he doesn't win Tarrant County, it's over on election night. He just he just doesn't have a real path without Tarrant County. And not only do we think he needs to win it for him to feel comfortable. He'd have to win it by seven or more minutes. And you're saying that's possible. We do think it's possible. These polls we're seeing right now when you see a poll that has James Tallery go up three points in Texas. That's a 17 point shift from how Donald Trump didn't taxes just two years ago. A lot of Hispanic districts were potentially going to see 20 or 25 point shifts this November. And those are those are gaudy numbers. Those are high numbers for Tallery go to hit. So far in polling. He's hitting them. Polling has been wrong before. So we'll see this November. I got to say, like don't get freaked out. Don't get freaked out because if you want to vote, you're going to be able to vote.
No one's going to stop you. Now they're going to make it as hard as possible to vote. But guess what? Guess what? That's America, baby. I feel like it would not be America. If we weren't trying to make it as hard as possible for people to elect the people who represent them. But black people in the South women. We have a history of Americans who overcome those challenges because of that we are where we are today. And yes, they can do this shitty stuff, making people wait in hours, wait hours in line. To vote. But if you are in Texas and you have to wait an hour, two hours to cast your ballot for James Tallery go, I hope you make it a joyous two hours. I hope you make it a celebration in a party because you're doing the exact thing they don't want you to do. And I'm sorry that we have a government right now that makes voting as hard as possible. Unfortunately, that's the lineage we come from. My hope is that we can do what our ancestors have done in the past, which is we overcome whatever obstacle they put in front of us. So make it hard to vote, bitch. We're going to do it with a smile on our face. We're going to bring people along.
We're going to say, hey, what are you doing on Tuesday? Well, come on. We're getting in line to vote. Yeah, it's going to take two hours. They don't want us to do this. That means it must be really important. Now here's democratic strategist, Liz Smith talking about what it really means that Trump is deploying ice to polling sites. Mark Wayne Mullins said that ice could deploy could be deployed to the polling sites to handle specific threats or arrests. Now we've got Senator Alisa Slokkin asking Mullin along with the FBI, the DOJ and the National Guard to commit in writing to not sending armed federal agents to the polls and to promise not to unlawfully seize election materials of any kind. What's your take on this? Again, this is part of a huge pattern, long pattern we've seen from the Trump administration, where from denying the results of the 2020 election to sending people to to threatening to send people to polling sites and close polling sites, where they're just trying to so doubt, trying to so doubt in the election results in case, you know, it's a bad night for Republicans trying to dissuade people from turning out to vote.
And again, it just goes when it comes to any of these discussions, goes back to what David said, which is that Democrats need to use this to juice our voters to turn out and to say, look, they are doing everything in their power to suppress your vote. Don't let them do that. We need the biggest turnout possible to overcome any of the challenges that they're throwing in our way. And I think that's the best thing that Democrats really can do here. Like, you know, I can hopefully give you some strength, give you some encouragement, give you some optimism. But I think as it stands with like Project 2025, we knew we knew what they were going to do. They told us and Democrats in the year 2025 acted surprised. They couldn't believe what Trump was doing. Well, maybe it was written down. Wake up. We knew about it for a while. Why were our leaders so shocked and caught flat footed? So my hope is my hope is that Hakeem Jeffries, Chuck Schumer, any other Democrat with actual power in office right now aren't just looking at this and going like, oh, I hope they don't do it. Why don't you pretend like they're going to? What's the solution?
Because we're going to do what we're going to do. We're going to show up. We're going to wait in line and we're going to vote. But what happens if the Justice Department starts to challenge ballots? What happens if ICE takes ballot machines? Okay, are the Democratic governors meeting? Are they having like any sort of like dialogue around what the action is? Because we're going to do what we're going to do. But we need a plan for them. I would like for them to talk to us directly about what the plan is because they're telling us on their side what they're going to do. I think what we are kind of missing here is some communication from our Democratic leaders about what they intend to do to stop it. Now, we know that USPS officials are literally defying court orders and trying to undermine our elections. Here's Rep. Rc talking about it. Well, look, I think first I want to say it's so important that we get this information out, which is why we have been loud all day today and yesterday. Here on your show, other places telling people and making sure that USPS now knows that we know. And that to us is so critical because they have no idea that we've been investigating this.
Once we went public, there's a whistleblower. We have the information that they have and they're on notice we're not going to allow them to implement this program. Secondly, the questions we have with the USPS postmaster general is who is ordering you to implement this and who of you ordered to implement this on your behalf? Why under court order when they have been clear that you cannot move forward or you continue to defy the court? Because we are going to hold the postmaster general and anyone at USPS, particularly those that are at the management level that are implementing this, accountable for we view as an illegal action by USPS. So again, what is this solution? I don't know. I can hear them explain the problem. I can do that. I know the problem. What's the solution? We need solutions from our leaders. And the thing is, if you're not going to give them to us, then we're going to find leaders elsewhere. I just hope there are some smart people somewhere, ideally people who can vote in Congress. And I hope there's some democratic governors on a group chat somewhere scheming about what they're going to do. Because we're not seeing it. Mark Wayne Mullins given press conferences, telling us what he's going to do. I just hope that there's some Democrats thinking about what they're going to do in retaliation.
