Hollies Square Revamp: Honoring Eastwood's Past

Crews will swap out the old central bench and faded signs for two new benches, three flower planners and a community notice board to brighten up the town center spot. The upgrades include three special mosaics set right into the pavement, honoring local legends like author D.H. Lawrence, the historic Eastwood Tram, and the Midland Railway, all nods to the areas rich past. Local leaders are thrilled about the changes, saying it will boost pride in the community and make the space more inviting for residents and visitors. They see it sparking economic energy and a stronger sense of hometown identity. This 12,000-pound project comes from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the East Midlands Combined County Authority, part of Bigger. Investments across Nottingham Shire and Derbyshire to support towns like Eastwood, with work kicking off soon, Holly Square should soon feel renewed and ready to draw people in for years ahead.
