The Division 2 boys title came in a thrilling 3-2 victory after four over times. But three empty seats stood out in the crowd, belonging to his mother, brother, and grandfather killed in a shooting weeks before. The attack happened February 16th at a game in Patuckin. Colin's father opened fire in the stands, targeting his ex-wife Ronda, son Aiden, and Gerald Dorgon. Two others were badly hurt. Bystanders stopped the gunman, who then died from a self-inflicted wound. The close knit team took time off right after, with coach Chris LeBrissey arranging 10 days of counseling. He let players opt out, but everyone came back, including Colin who needed the most time. His sister Ava, unhurt in the chaos, helped pull him through the grief. During heart patches on their jerseys for the loss family, the team pushed deep into playoffs.
