You're listening to Global News Today, powered by the Daily News Now. Hezbollah fighters classed with Israeli troops in eastern Lebanon during an overnight airborne raid, marking the second such operation there in recent days. The group says its forces confronted helicopters and ground infiltrators with heavy weapons. This comes as the Israel Hezbollah war hits its second week. The conflict erupted when Hezbollah launched attacks to avenge the killing of Iran's former top leader. Also responded, with a major offensive, pounding Hezbollah strongholds. Air strikes continue in Beirut's southern suburbs, with fresh warnings for residents to evacuate and plans to hit a key Hezbollah bank. Casalties are mounting fast. Lebanon's health ministry reports nearly 400 people killed by Israeli strikes since March 2, including at least 83 children and 42 women. Israel lost two soldiers in southern Lebanon, its first army deaths in the fighting. Most of thousands have fled their homes, especially from southern areas and Beirut suburbs.

Earlier raids targeted the Bukhaya Valley, a Hezbollah bastion near the Syrian border. One operation near Nabi Chit Village killed 41 people, as troops hunted clues on a missing Israeli airman from 1986, but found nothing. Israel has boosted troops in southern Lebanon, setting up defensive posts against cross-border attacks. A drone strike in Beirut also took out five top Iranian commanders at a seaside hotel, widening the targets beyond traditional zones.
