How do we help the homeless? A young college friend was saying that if she were president, she would make sure that every homeless person would get a home. And I said “well, how would you do that?” She replied, “I’ll order the government to provide the homes.” I said, “the government doesn’t need to do that. You can do it yourself.” She said, “How?” I said “come over and mow my lawn, and I’ll pay you $30.” So she came over and mowed the lawn, and I gave her a receipt for $30. She said, “where’s my $30?” I said, “I gave it to the homeless so they get a home.” She said, “that isn’t fair. I’m the one who mowed your lawn, and you gave them $30. Why not homeless person mow your lawn and you could have given him or her $30!” They could have helped themselves.” I said, “well, I think that you have the makings of a Republican.”
