Headlines: U.S. Govt shuts down over funding deadlock

Today's headlines include:

The NSW Police Commissioner has apologised for the unlawful strip search that led to a class action against police. 

Up to 69 people have been killed and hundreds injured after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Philippine province of Cebu.

The U.S. Government has shut down after the Senate rejected a short-term spending measure that would have funded the continuation of federal operations until November 21.

And today’s good news: Researchers have developed a human egg using skin cells, in what’s been described as a landmark fertility breakthrough.
