Headlines: Thousands feared dead in Venezuelan quakes

Today's headlines include: 

• Two strong earthquakes struck northern Venezuela on Wednesday night (local time), causing buildings in the capital city of Caracas to collapse.
• The unemployment rate is down to 4.4% from 4.5%, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
• At least 48 people have died in France from drowning since the onset of a heatwave across Western Europe.
• And today’s good news! The International Olympic Committee has announced grants of 10,000 American dollars, that’s about 15,000 Australian dollars, to all Olympians.
