Samantha was with her partner for over 6 years. He constantly monitored her location, expected her home by a certain time, hid her keys so she couldn’t get into the house or drive her car, disputed her credit card charges… and that’s just the beginning. His constant manipulation and control made Sam doubt herself. Sam made many attempts toget help from the police, but the courts kept granting him bail, as well as her ex-partner physically stopping her from attending court hearings.

 

In November 2024, she decided she needed this horrible cycle to end for the sake of herself and their child. She luckily had a detective that fought hard for her, and the ex-partner finally got jail time in 2025. He was the first imprisonment in NSW under coercive control laws.

 

He was imprisoned for 6 months before he got released on house arrest, which he very quickly breached. Karma came and got him when he was caught at the pub by the same detective that put him in prison initially. He is currently back in prison.
