HBCU Star Curtis Allen Chases NFL Dream

0:00On April 29, Curtis Allen, the standout running back from Virginia Union, went undrafted in the 2026 NFL draft after a monster season. But he's not sitting on the sidelines. He's landed many camp invites from the Super Bowl champs, Seattle Seahawks, and the Atlanta Falcons. Allen put up historic numbers for the Panthers, rushing for 1,490 yards and 30 touchdowns on 297, carries. His best game came against rival Bluefield State, where he torched them for 369 yards and 5 scores. That dominance earned him the Harlan Hill trophy, division 2 football's version of the Heisman. And he's the first player from an HBCU to claim it. Coming up to four years at Virginia Union, he stepped up big after his teammate, Jada Buyers, graduated, owning the backfield in a run first, offense. Now Seattle's giving him a look, where they already have HBCU alum Emmanuel Wilson and just lost Kenneth Walker, the third to Kansas City. Over in Atlanta, he joined Bijan Robinson after Tyler Algair bolted for Arizona, opening up backfield spots.
