This kicked off around 10.30 Tuesday morning, leading to evacuations of nearby properties and road closures to keep everyone safe. Police teamed up with fire and rescue, ambulances, Derby City Council, and even the Army's explosive ordinance disposal team. They stressed it's not a criminal issue, just routine work uncovered the substances so no foul play involved. At Castlewood Spencer Academy Primary School, part of the courting covers the site, so parents rushed to pick up their kids after a notice went out. Meanwhile, Royal Mail workers at the delivery office got evacuated and are hanging out nearby, waiting for the all clear. Dozens of postal staff can't get back in, and traffic's getting rerouted around four or five police cars on scene. Things like London Road, Wellington Street, and Carrington Street are blocked off between key junctions.
