Harry Potter TV Series on HBO: New Cast, Premiere Date

0:00On March 26th, Warner Bros. Discovery has set a premiere date for its new Harry Potter TV series on HBO. The show kicks off with an eight-episode first season based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It is slated to debut on December 25th, 2026, and stream on Max. This reboot promises a faithful take on the original books, bringing the Wizarding World to a fresh generation of fans. The project was first revealed back in April, 2023, with plans for multiple seasons covering the seven books. J.K. Rowling serves as an executive producer and gave the thumbs up to the pilot script. She handpicked writer Francesca Gardner, known from Succession and Killing Eve, and director Mark Mylode, who also worked on Succession and the menu. The original cast members like Daniel Radcliffe have shared mixed feelings. Radcliffe, who played Harry in the films, says he is excited to watch as a fan, but sees no role for himself or the old crew. Actress Bonnie Wright, who was Jenny, remains open to a cameo, but is thrilled about the TV format either way.
