Bickley, Marotta, Sammy, and Jarrett hand out awards for the best and worst of the weekend.
It's our biggest investment, the roof over our heads.
That's why at Cossack LVC, we went with America Roofing, Arizona's 2025 roofing contractor
of the year.
Yep, Arizona's biggest and best plus saves 12% at americaroofingco.com.
The awards show, they're everywhere, we do our own on Mondays, we hand out awards based
on what we saw over the weekend.
Beck, what do you got for us?
My first award, Vinnie, is the ABS stands for already been spectacular award of giving
it to Major League Baseball over the weekend.
The automated, uh, Balls and Strikes Challenge system in Major League Baseball produced some
incredible results, uh, the reds and the red socks with CB Buckner, he had six calls
overturned, including back to back pitches and to Suarez, right?
Yeah, and there would have been a lot more except the reds were out of their challenges
by the third inning.
They had challenged eight pitches by the third inning with CB Buckner.
And then over the weekend, the twins, Orioles, the twins manager got so mad at how one
of them was administered that he got thrown out of the game.
And the ounces are like, you can't argue with the robot.
What are you doing?
It's already been great and it's going to, it's going to be a game changer for Major League.
You argue with the robot as the human, apply the ejection or is it the robot?
Good question.
I'm sorry.
It's like if you get in a, uh, you have been ejected.
It's like if you get an accident with a Waymo.
Yeah.
What are you doing?
Yeah.
What are you going to?
Or get cut off by a Waymo.
Who are you flipping on?
I've, I've yelled at a Waymo before and people appointed me on a ridiculous event.
It's way better to yell at a Waymo when you're outside the Waymo.
Oh, I can definitely understand that.
My first award is the, you had one job award.
And I'm giving it to whoever printed up the championship t-shirts for Arizona as they celebrated
their final for it.
Did you notice the bottom of the shirt say 2026 East Regional Champions?
Oh, no.
Oh, no way.
I did notice that.
I want one of them now.
Go left there's item.
Yeah.
Come on.
You got four regions.
You got four teams wearing t-shirts.
You can't keep it straight.
Man.
Goodness gracious.
That's terrible.
Well, the game was played in the far East.
Yes, it was.
I can see how they can get confused.
The East side of San Jose.
Yes.
I'd say it was.
Three of the four same letters as a West.
Give them a break.
Wow, that is true, too.
It can get confusing.
Before I used to wear glasses, uh, when I drove, I used to hate.
North and South and East and West on science, because they're very similar looking from far
away.
I can't see.
But I don't worry now.
Now I'm safe.
Do you, uh, do you criticize Tiger Woods?
Yeah.
I've corrected myself.
Unlike him.
I've learned and grown.
Okay.
My first award is the, I guess it's not about the name on the front of the Jersey or the
back of the Jersey award.
And it goes to those losers at Duke that, that what a bunch of losers.
Here's, uh, here's some names for you, because Duke has zero NCAA championships or appearances
in the last 10 years, okay, which, which a lot of, a lot of teams don't.
But they're Duke.
Despite having all these players, all these players who have been drafted or, or played
in the NBA, Brandon Ingram, Luke Canard, Jason Tatum, Frank Jackson, Marvin Bagley, the
third Gary Trent Jr., Wendell Carter Jr., Zion Williams, and RJ Barr, Cam Reddish,
Trey Jones, Jalen Johnson, Paul O'Bank Arrow, Mark Williams, Kyle Filipowski, Derek
Lively, Jared McCain, Cooper Flag, Conkiniple, Common Mollowatch, Zion James, and Cameron
Boozer, zero titles.
The bloom is off the arrows.
They're a bunch of losers now.
Wow.
And you got bloom is off the rose, correct?
Now Duke Kentucky's list over the last 14.
Well, I know.
There we go.
It's not just them.
All right.
My first award is the could make a grown man cry award, and I'm going to give it to Gary
Woodland.
All right.
So it is very known.
I'm a big golf nerd and golf junkie.
But this story is remarkable.
So Gary Woodland in 2019, he won the U.S. Open.
He held off Brooks Capka.
He's a major champion, all right, but back in 2023, he was at the Masters.
He was getting an overwhelming amount of anxiety.
These terrible thoughts running through his brain, sweats, no appetite, spasms, he had
a lesion, a lesion in his brain, the size of a baseball.
They had to go in, take it out, spent two nights in the ICU, and there was a chance he
could wake up from that surgery, paralyzed, or definitely unable to swing a golf club,
okay?
Flash forward, another year.
He's diagnosed with PTSD from the surgery.
He doesn't come out about it until two weeks ago at the players' championship, all right?
And yesterday, at the Houston Open, he wins for the first time since 2019, and not only
as a golf fan, but as just a fan of comeback stories, it was remarkable to see him walk
down the 18th green, and the emotion that he had in this post-win press conference.
If you haven't seen it, I would recommend going to look that up because it'll make
your day.
Yeah, he, the PTSD that he suffered from led to a lot of horrible side effects that he'd
have to run into bathrooms on the golf course and ball his eyes out.
That's a terrible, terrible story.
Great try if I agree to you, Sammy.
All right, my last award is the Diamondbacks Need One of These award, and I'm talking about
not only a closer, but a closer with an epic walk out song.
We already know Edwin Diaz and Timmy Trumpet and Los Angeles, but now Mason Miller with
the Padres has got a great one as well.
He walks out to a song by corn, it's called Blind, and it's one of their iconic songs
at the 1999 Woodstock Festival where there's just a sea of humanity going bananas.
It's incredible.
It's just like really jagged, riffy guitar stuff going on, and then the singer Jonathan
Davis screams, are you ready?
We'll do it for some of the day.
Yeah, about that.
They couldn't, they couldn't do that when Mason Miller was with Diaz because they, they
were afraid to turn the lights on off in Oakland because they wouldn't be able to get
them back on.
Get them back on again.
My last award is the Creative Sponsorship Award, and I'm giving it to the Milwaukee
Brewers.
And apparently, five other teams, the Brewers, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox and White Sox, and
the AA Chattanooga lookouts, now have a new sponsor.
The sponsor is North Shore Adult Dipers.
This was circulating over the weekend because the Brewers opened up against the White Sox
and Brewers, ready?
I, I, I had the audio and then they deleted the tweets, so I don't have the audio of it
now.
But the read is North Shore Adult Dipers sponsor is a opposing pitching change.
That's right.
Yes, because quote, sometimes you need a change when you have serious control problem.
Oh boy.
And the announcer said, and the White Sox have had control problems.
That's pretty good.
It actually is.
But that sounds like that sketch, from signing out live with Jason Sudakas and Bull
Forte, you know, I'm talking about where they do the, oh yeah, the announcers.
Greg Stink.
Yeah.
That's almost exactly like that.
Yes, yes.
Yes.
Are we out of time, Jerk?
We are out of time.
We are out of time.
I heard that they, I did ask them though, if they thought that was a good sponsor, they said
depends.
That is hardware for this Monday, also Arizona sports live at Chase Field today, just moments
from now Wolf and Luke from 10 to two burns and Gambo 2 to 6 are broadcasting live from
Chase Field and listen to debax tigers on 98 7 FM first pitch 7 10 only on Arizona
sports.
The home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, I just want to verify something real quick.
Oh, it is 710.
I know it's normally 640, but probably a little later later game, probably with all the
festivities presentation.
By the way, they're going to have the Clydesdale horses out there.
If you want to take a selfie with the Clydesdale's, we're going to be outside the ballpark
tonight, pregame.
I like it.
Budweiser.
Have a Budweiser or two.
Hey, more, more.
Final thoughts coming up on this Monday next, Pickley and Marotta Mornings, Arizona sports,
