Half of Young Brits Disconnected, Seeking System Change

That's half of young people age 16 to 29 feeling that disconnected. Optimism's tanking too, with just 36% now expecting to be better off than their parents, down from 63% last year. Only a quarter of them feel the political system treats them fairly. Top worries hit hard, financial stress, shaky jobs, housing woes, and even AI shaking up employment. Meanwhile, a separate survey last year showed just 41% of Gen Z feeling proud to be British. Young folks are voicing real frustration, like struggling grads who can't land jobs or dream of homes and families. Nearly half could in name one leader who reps British values. It's a sign of deep disillusionment, with many questioning why bother upholding the system if it leaves them behind. They want fixes like higher wages, cheaper homes, and real career paths to spark some hope.
