Pitcher List Fantasy Baseball is made possible by:
This week on Hacks & Jacks, Scott and Brett talk through the new and different format that Scott has organized the Top 150 Hitter's List beginning this week. With the end of the season looming and fantasy baseball playoffs well underway in some leagues, Scott has tiered his players into a handful of buckets: Auto-Start, Solid, Streamer, Droppable, Desperate and the players that matter on the IL. The guys go team-by-team through the list to make sure that fantasy managers are as prepared as possible for the looming fantasy postseason.

This is a pitch list family welcome to another episode of hacks and jacks as always I'm your host Brett Ford here with senior analyst Scott two were talking hitters on pitch list Scott. It's been a couple weeks we've got some things changing it's playoff time and fantasy baseball for the most part. You restructured the list we've got a holding format and kind of an exciting new way to digest all the information that you throw in there on a weekly basis. Do you want to just breeze over that real quick? Yeah, so just like what Nick Pollock does at this time of year instead of just posting a regular list because it be so depend like the rankings of the Rockies for example just fly up and down based on how many home games they have left things like that. A more useful tool we think for fantasy managers is to just kind of look at rest of season outlook and while Nick kind of tells you start by start that gets pretty granular for hitters. So what I tend to do is break players down into buckets. There's auto start solid streamer dropable which is mostly
like in a 12 team head to head context like whether or not you could consider dropping this player a desperate tier and then I mentioned guys on the I L who might be back to season with enough time to help you. So it's a bit of a shift there you can sort of use the tiers like ranking buckets but again some of it is need dependent some of it is going to depend on your specific situation. I try to call out differences between points and OBP when I can but yeah it's it's kind of broken down team by team. I know you guys just mostly control F to find the player you're looking for anyway but yeah so it's team by team because that's an easy it's also an easier context to talk about these players in because sometimes like what's good for one player's bad for another like when we talk about the Cincinnati Reds you'll see Hector Rodriguez and Dan Myers in the same tier even though Hector Rodriguez is mainly the starter he leads off against righties they happen to face a bunch of lefties in the next two series. So I kind of put them together and I'm like yeah you can kind of hold on to Hector Rodriguez but Dan Myers might be the guy for the next
you know two series and it really looks at it in these small chunks. I'm really just talking about what are we doing for the next two to three series again because in especially in a playoff scenario but even in redraft Roto you that's where you're living now you're just thinking about the next two or three series if you're thinking beyond that you might be setting yourself up for failure especially when things are really really tight. Well we've got 30 teams to cover Scott and about less than 60 minutes to do it so let's jump right in we'll start with the Arizona Diamondbacks obviously the Cattel Marte saga has finally come to a close he's back with the team what else going on in Arizona. Yeah so not a lot of surprises here when you're going through it you're probably starting Marano and Carol and Marte. Corbin Carroll like even if he goes nuts this month he's going to have a hard time recouping the value had back on draft day but he's still good enough that you just probably should keep plugging him in. Tim Tawa is a guy who I think
has been really good the last couple of weeks. I this is kind of like a Vargas rule if you use Nick's terminology I'm not sure I care about Tawa next season but I'll care about him for the rest of this season because he is hitting well. Large Newt Bar should get plenty of playing time in the first series against Houston but he sits against lefties and they'll see two of them in Kansas City so watch out for that and if you want to drop Nolan Aranado and Jordan Mauler go right ahead I'm not going to stop you both of them one has been solid at times a season the other has a lot of upside neither of them I think are necessarily going to help you for the next couple of series you can let them go. Beautiful let's move on to the athletics they play a bunch of home games coming up Scott talk to me about their lineup. Yeah too bad all of their best hitters are hurt and not here right. So this lineup is really being held together by Lawrence Butler Henry Bolt Zach Elowf and to Alexaer extent Jeff McNeil none of these guys are technically auto start
Lawrence Butler would probably be dropped down so I call him solid he'd be more of a streamer if they were going to be on the road and they're going to face any lefties they don't have either of those in the next two series so it's all righties it's all at home so Lawrence Butler is a guy that you probably keep plugged in Henry Bolt and Gilaugh they both had a really really nice game lately so they're they're in the streamer bucket now they were almost in a dropable sort of place before those games but it's like hey you're about to you're you know the bat's hot you're about to go back home you might as well let it ride in the desperate here look if you're in points or something Jeff McNeil can be helpful especially at home and Jonah Heim does play a lot as a catcher I don't think he's very good but he does play most days and you can stream them at home. We move back east to Atlanta where the Braves have at least a handful of studs in their lineup at least four guys that you're probably not pivoting away from right. Yeah so three of them I call absolutely my start that's Baldwin Olsen and Harris
I put Ronald Kunu Jr in the solid tier and I even stayed in the arquat bit edgy about it but keep in mind that since coming to July he's hitting two seventeen he's slugging three eighty he has one extra bass hit in his last fourteen games to strike out her up it gets you're going to start him because he's a cune unless you're like an eight-teamer and then that might actually be a different conversation but there's actually a league format that people do play in that it might be different I'm just trying to point out that Ronald Kunu Jr is not the auto start he used to be he's just been really disappointing this year blaming on injuries blame it on whatever you want we have more than just health concerns with Ronald Kunu Jr this big drop in contact is a problem I also I call Ozzy Albeys like in the streamer tier he's really up and down he's hitting for average lately but not for any power but this will come up a lot when we do this at second base what choice do you have right he's doing something good you probably got to leave him in finally Austin Riley is striking out striking out a whole bunch his OPS is back down in the tank he's
very dropable for me well we move on from Atlanta and head to my squad the Baltimore Orioles and you know as an Orioles fan I wish they faced left-handed pitching every single night because Kobe Mayo and Luis Robert and Christian and Karnassian strand and Pito Lanzo are all mashing against left-handed pitching but it's kind of it talk to me about the Orioles and what's going on yeah I want there's two guys I kind of want to talk about in this number one Gunner Henderson so if you were in a playoff head to head this last week you must have been so excited to have your Orioles because they were going to be in Colorado then in Sacramento it's like the best two-step you can possibly have and Gunner Henderson had a decent six game set with two home runs four runs scored five RBI he did like all of that in one game and he was bad the rest of it he so he had one really good game out of the the six and that was about it but he still looks good for my process plus metrics
so the fact he's still capable of these massive games just go ahead and leave him in Christian and and Karnassian strand was probably the most disappointing stream of the playoffs I think a lot of people had a lot of hope that this hot bat was going to just he was super hot in St. Louis he goes to Sacramento and cores total dud he's striking out more um he sat twice in Colorado uh Christian and Karnassian strand's a drop for me Lewis rapper junior also like I get why it why the Orioles went and got him for free what what I should say is I get why a team would go out and do it for free I don't know why the Orioles didn't first of all there you have Tyler O'Neal it's the same thing it's the same thing it's explosive player who's hurt all the time it's the same thing he's older whatever but it's the same I don't know why you do that plus you also are trying to find time for Dylan Beaver's your DH spots you know all bottled up with Samuibasayo you've got like they're just there's nowhere for him to play you've got Colton Cows here that's already you know I guess he'll be a platoon with Lewis Robert Junior I don't know I don't know why they went and got him it
doesn't make any sense because the Huston Kerset now has nowhere to play the Orioles to Varys is still playing sometime like this whole outfields a mess none of them are more than streamers Dylan Beaver's is really the only one that I was interested in at all and it's he's a platoon so I'm not sure what's going on over there and also Jackson holiday stays in the streamer bucket because he is leading off still and he's hitting okay but if and he's a second basement that's really important that if he wasn't a second basement he'd probably be in that droppable to you and for those who haven't seen it I know we talked about Dylan Beaver's for a second I won't waste any more time on the bottom or Orioles but I did want to mention there's a really cool story out there about Jackson holidays dad Matt Matt holiday fixing Dylan Beaver's swing so it's really just a fun story a little tidbit so make sure you check that out we move on to the Boston Red Sox for staying the AL East Boston had a couple of injury scares over the weekend including
Sudan Rafiela but it looks like he's going to be okay I have to double check that but what's going on with Boston I might have to edit that out sorry so I think the big surprise for me is just how good Roman Anthony has looked since coming off the IEL he has multiple hits and four-share games going into Thursday four of those hits were for extra bases two doubles a triple in a dinger so him leading he's been leading off he looks fantastic so he's in that solid tier not necessarily an auto start because we don't have I mean he was really bad before going on the IEL that's worth remembering that he was really not good but he looks great now Mickey Gaspers also been he he sits against lefties that's fine because he plays against all the righties and he's catcher eligible that's the biggest thing so if Mickey Gaspers wasn't a catcher he might be more in the streamer space but he is hitting the ball really well to 23.5% barrel rate over the last 14 games he has 11 walks and four strikeouts in that stretch he's he's hitting
really really well so I don't really know what's going on this is another Vargas rule thing just run with Mickey Gaspers sit down Raphaela and Trevor story are both in that streamer tier I'm Trevor story was almost in the dropable or desperate tier he has a bunch of hits since he's gotten up and back in the lineup but he's striking out a ton he's not actually hitting the ball that well he's just they're kind of just turning into hits like four straight games with a double but like none he doesn't really have a lot of like great barrels or anything so I'm a little bit concerned about that but you might as well run with it I guess in the dropable tier a couple of guys that you might still be sticking on your roster Kayla Durbin is one he doesn't hit the ball hard at all so last 19 games he has zero barrels a 16.1% hard hit rate even when he was good there was a lot of good luck baked into that so he was just performing way over the quality of his bad balls and so all of that's gone if you're an appointee you can hold on to him but otherwise I'd move on from Kayla Durbin oddly rutchman between injury and just poor performance he's just not been good as a red sock
his OPS for that team I think is almost 500 I think it's five I think it's 499 so you know he's he doesn't I don't think even if he were to start hitting better it doesn't seem like they want to play him every day anyway just to keep him fresh for some reason I don't know why you need him fresh when he's hitting this way oh and also jaren duran um he won't play against lefties but only see one in the next two series but he hits at the bottom of the order he's been super up and down all season uh so jaren duran is dropable for me especially because he's an outfielder and there's just so many of them like basically every like so many of the streamers that I list are outfielders right and so many of the guys that are on that desperate almost streamer tier they're outfielders too right that's just where all the talent is so uh jaren duran is not someone you have to be holding on to right now I'll assault the wound of the rutchman trade uh adly in his camden yards return hit two home runs tonight Thursday night and of course he did
of course I haven't looked yet hits two home runs but still but still he is dropable for me like I guess he's gonna hold me can but I just don't think he's gonna play every day catchers pretty deep and like that just seems personal that deeply personal yeah absolutely um he did get a standing ovation which was nice but then he proceeded to home or twice and the Orioles are losing six three in the ninth so good times um on to uh the Chicago cups it's it's the pca and Alex Braggman show through august and uh oh seis azuki's there as well um so a lot of fun to watch the cubs this past month and we think that that'll continue throughout September right yeah what here's what's baffling so pcrow arms strong say sesuki Alex Braggman they make up three of the top four spots in the order the other guy is michael bush and over these last two series where the team has a bazillion runs he has two runs in two rbi in that whole time but all the hottest hitters are all
around him and and he has like nothing to show for it and if he's not producing now when is he gonna right so michael bush in the dropable tier for me he and happen the dropable tier for me he's just been crazy up and down I'd rather find someone with more playing time more dependability because he and half is now in a full-time platoon uh a guy you might be interested in because he's probably gonna pop up on your website rankings is or like for wherever you're playing his carson kelly but he only plays every other day so it's really hard to recommend him with how deep catcher is now because he basically has to hit every single game or he won't keep up with the other catchers because he just doesn't play as much as they do uh the other other names to point out like Pedro Amira's and Tyrone Taylor they're they're getting production like they're scoring a bunch of runs because pcrow Armstrong and say sesuki and Alex Braggman drive them in every time they're on base but like they're at the very bottom of the lineup and i'm not really that interested in ramirez or tyrone taylor like they're sort of getting some of the extras while the cubs are hot so if you play then you can do it desperately just saying like i just want to cub because the offense is hot but um yeah and just
to make a reminder here when i call guys dropable it's not for the desperate players right so when you actually look at the article there's sort of in the order that i want them in a 12 team league but i call it dropable above desperate because i'm like look there might be streamers that i mentioned somewhere else on this page that are on your wire and these are the kinds of guys you can drop for those streamers so whenever i talk about streamers i it's i hate talking about they oh yeah i gotta add this guy without talking about who i would drop right so these dropable names aren't like just go cut them right now for no reason it's if there's a streamer out there go ahead and grab them these are the players you can trade out for them perfect we'll move to the south side where uh muda taakamura kami is not the same players he was to begin the season um it's kind of disappointing for me as a more kami manager to to watch him fall off like this but uh it's ugly but actually he is still the same player this is just what the other side of that coin
looks like first of all over half of his played appearances and with a walker is strikeout right um it's like 18% walk rate 34% strikeout rate uh what's crazy is his barrel rate is still extremely high despite the fact he's hitting 186 and that actually comes from the fact that barrel rate is a stat that's based on balls in play and merrick kami has just less of them than everyone else right uh compared to other players like maybe a bobby with junior merrick kami has about half as many balls in play like maybe even less because so many of his played appearances just end with the ball in the catchers mid right either as a walker or strikeout so merrick kami just doesn't get a lot of balls in play but when he does they're he generally hits them really hard but if you're an obp uh you know i i labeled merrick kami as a streamer which he's third base what i mean who are you really cutting him for right no one else is dropping him
but i did want to point out that like i don't consider him auto start or solid right i understand your frustration you probably can't move him because he's third like maybe if he's like if it's one of the leaks where he's only first base there might be an option but even then it'd be hard to do that an obp he would be in solid but in points where the strikeout penalty i think he's totally dropable right here's not get i mean there's too much negative right balls in play are really important in points and he just doesn't do that uh koulson mont gummeries kind of in that same situation i think of him in a lot of the same ways even though uh mont gummeries floor is even lower than merrick kami's because mont gummeries just wildly aggressive uh and strikes out even more uh his ceiling is like almost as high though because when he is hitting the ball he's just punching it through the like through outer space that's just kind of what he does so um mont gummerie out there uh the dropable names there's a couple of them the two i want to mention her sam antonachi who probably carried you through the summer but has not been doing that for a long time he's not stealing bases he that he was never going to hit them
any home runs he's not hitting forever jither so like what is he doing for you go and let him go i know he said can base eligible but this is one of the ones i i would just consider dropping tristan peters i know he had a home run in like five straight games and his overall season numbers look good but he hasn't really been good since then he's just an outfielder feel free to move on that's ill all star tristan peters to you uh uh we move on to Cincinnati where baby boy south stort is just uh doing all the things that we knew he would um he and elie delacruz are in your auto start tier scott um what is beyond uh those two guys in Cincinnati yeah so the streamer is just to catch your Tyler stevens and he's actually been hitting pretty well for a while for some reason he's still floating around out there because not as many people need catchers these days uh he's a pretty solid one to stream home or away it doesn't really matter the droppable names you he knows swaras if for some reason you're still holding him let him go mat McLean if some for if for some reason you're holding him let him go jj blade so blade
is actually looked pretty good the last two weeks but the big story for the reds and that it's earlier from the despot cheer with hector rudry geys and dane mires is that uh they're going to see four lefties in their six or seven games right so that's a lot of lefties jj blade doesn't hit them right so uh you can actually let him go he's probably gonna have someone might scoop him but he's probably gonna have a rough week and you can try to pick him up later when they're at home or facing a bunch of righties that's when you really want blade right now and that's the thing with hector rudry geys a lot of people have asked me about him he's only he's gonna see he's got six games coming he'll see uh four lefties which he probably won't play against it all and then he'll see two righties one of them is dust in May he's explorable the other ones yoshinobu yamamoda which is not really a great matchup for anybody so that's like one game that i think hector rudry geys can be good and five that he can't so he's in the despot cheer this time on the flip side of that is dane mires he'll lead off again these matchups are pretty tough uh they're getting
the brewers and the dodgers but he'll be at the top of the order and that's in front of south steward and nelly daily crews so he could certainly score some runs dane mires has probably been on your radar here and there over the last two years because he has these little wild hot streaks i'm not saying that's what's about to happen but in a deeper league like five outfield or 15 team dane mires should definitely be on your radar perfect we stay in the state of ohio we go to cleveland where the guardians are being carried by hosea remira steven quan chased the louder uh and joa del um talked to me about what else is going on in cleveland yeah so steven quan and the louder have have slowed down a bit but they're facing the tigers they always seem to beat the crap out of the tigers uh they'll be at home so that should turn around joa del too he's he's hit the ball surprisingly well he's only got one home run in his home ballpark so far as a guardian but uh he's he's hitting the ball better than ice than i thought just based on the stats when i went and
looked at x-woah bus that cast data he's hitting the ball pretty well so might as well leave him locked in your lineup not like you were going to do elsewhere like something else anyway and you look travis pizanna's droppable because being a rookies hard and he's having a hard time with it it's been a little up and down for him i know he's second base eligible which makes it a little harder to cut him but he's he's having a rough go of it and he doesn't do quite enough that like the floor just isn't high enough because it steals require you to get on base he's not doing that super well lately so he can he can be let go we move quickly to colorado one of the more interesting teams for fantasy not really in reality um but uh hunter goodman jake mccarthy and a handful of other names here in colorado might be interesting to fantasy managers yeah i mean mccarthy and good men are just important it's important to note that for them it doesn't matter where they are let them play right they hit well on the road like not as good as they do at home but more than good enough to stand your lineup tj rumfield hitting the ball really well he actually is hit to like he hits
290 on the road and at home it's just the power that changes he hits for a lot more power in course uh uh and a lot less he's just more empty average uh on on the road which is two parts right number one he's not hitting for as much power and number two his team doesn't hit well on the road so there's not many guys to to bring in so after this weekend they'll be on the road for a whole week and that'll make him harder to use but i still think you can probably leave him in because at least he'll hit for enough average and we'll drive in jake mccarthy and hunter goodman when they're on base well hopefully the guys that uh you know willy Castro are dude uh he's he's a streamer because he's eligible everywhere but if you wanted to let him go after this weekend i wouldn't really stop you uh he's not very good on the road hasn't been that great lately the two big cuts on the dropless side i've never been a fan of micimony act i think he's just a streaky left handed platoon guy uh so you can go ahead and cut him he hasn't been good and cold care egg look i know this dude hits the ball really hard he swings really hard but he's in a platoon and
he's not hitting right now and he's about to go on the road so you can go ahead and cut cold care egg if you're really desperate you can go with counter norby he was not as good at home so far as i as i hoped after he had started heeding up uh and a notable name is that Kyle caros will be back sometime soon i don't know what role is waiting for him though so i'm mentioning him but you might let him go if you need that bench spot for someone else or that i else spot for someone else because i just don't know if they're going to plug in freely back into third base uh especially if counter norby gets a couple more hits perfect that takes us through 10 teams we'll take a quick break when we get back we'll talk about the other 20 after this insurance isn't one size fits all that's my driver seven joy progressives name your price tool for years now with the name your price tool you tell them what you want to pay and they'll show you options that fit your budget so whether you're picking out your first policy or just looking for something that works better for you and your family they make it easy to see your options visit progressive dot com find a rate that works for you with

streamed and all that fun stuff so we've knocked out 10 teams scot we're going to jump right into your Detroit Tigers where Kevin McGonagall and Riley Green lead the way yeah and they're the only ones I have a whole lot of faith in right now this offense once again is is ice ice cold I don't even mention Spencer Torkelson which makes me sad but I can't he's not hitting he actually looks worse than he has all season he's a drop even in the 15 teamers I think but yeah so McGonagall he's I mean he's a stud in a point league he'd be an auto star he's just solid for me and regularly because it's a bit of empty average right now with the rest of the team not hitting I'm hoping that changes though with Riley green I still think Riley green is an absolute stud he missed a lot of this season but when he was playing he looked a lot better and he was getting really bad luck particularly in the RBI because he was hitting but the rest of the team wasn't so he wasn't getting a lot of reward for it even though he was doing what he was supposed to do it just if no one's on base what are you supposed to do the the thing that really pains me though is who I put in the drop ulterior and that's Dylan Dingler I don't know what's wrong with Dylan Dingler
I still like him for next season but something's clearly wrong right now the the badded ball quality is just absolutely fallen through the floor I don't know if he's nursing an injury I don't know what's going on but he is dropable and it had to playoff situation maybe in roto I'd hold on for just a little bit longer but if you need to survive this week then I don't think Dylan Dingler is going to help you do that. Glebert Torres also they're saying he might lose some playing time coming up probably because how you least been really good and they just want to get these other young guys in. I also max Clark has looked pretty good the last 10 games getting into Thursday he's got you know his OPS is up over 800 in that stretch he just hit three doubles on Wednesday so you know he's someone to keep an eye on for future seasons and maybe is like a deep lead streamer for now but both he and how you lure in the desperate tier. Well jump down to Houston where Yordon Alvarez is running away with the AL MVP voting he's currently chasing the AL triple crown leading all three categories heading into Thursday's action
or at least with a share of the lead in home runs RBI and batting average. What else is in Houston behind Yordon? But I just want to point out this was the first month of the season that Yordon's expected slugging August was the first month of the season that has expected slugging was below 620 620 yeah real bad month for him in August it was only 444 he still hit 287 29 combined runs in RBI that's a slump for Yordon Alvarez right he's just he's the best pure hitter in the league he just is right he's he is like right now for me he's above one soda when he's healthy that's just what he is he's an absolute monster behind him Jeremy Panias striking out a lot but hitting for extra power so it I mean it's I hate this phrase because it's kind of lazy but it's like selling out for power like maybe he's definitely being more aggressive and swinging a bit harder so it's working out so I think that'll kind of balance back I think the power will come down
a little bit the average will come back up but either way I think he's a solid start Esauk Paradees moves down to streamer third base doesn't have a lot of options you're probably going to hold him anyway and he's walking a ton 14 walks in his last 15 games only four strikeout so if you're in a points league then I strike off penalty or you're in OBP Lee Esauk Paradees might be more of a solid then four guys who are just not hitting well right now Christian Walker Cam Smith Jose Altoobay Dalton Bar Show they do not need to ban your roster for fancy playoffs especially not in a 10 or 12 team league and a 15 teamer you just might not have better options that's really what changes with all this with a 15 teamer is maybe there are no streamer like maybe every guy listed a streamer is not available in a 15 team so they're drop a bowl but you can't drop them because none of the viable options are available I'll speak in a viable options we moved to Kansas City who for a long time this season didn't have too many of them but Bobby with obviously leading the way Carter Jensen Jack Hagley on among the names that fantasy managers
should probably be holding Scott yeah Carter Jensen really slumped especially through the second part of the summer but he's really surging now is last 15 games his OPS is up over a thousand average ex-siplossi 95.5 miles an hour in that stretch he looks great Jack Jack Hagley Jack Hagley on yeah so he's striking out a lot last nine games it's 13 strikeouts just one walk coming into Thursday every time I reference stats it's coming into Thursday because I've spent all day on this stupid thing but it's worth noting that Kaggleon is getting the ball in the air that's the most important thing I can live with the strikeouts if he's getting the ball in the air that's what he's doing so he's a solid Jimmy Pasquantino has looked really good or Vinnie Pasquantino has looked really good since coming off the IEL just keep rolling with that till the power fades that's a stream and self-presposed plays every day and he's a catcher so you can still roll with that if you want he's not a must start by any means he's just a streamer he might even be droppable if like there are a lot of good catchers and some of them just might be out there on your wire
now we jump to loss angiolist the angels have kind of been a fantasy wasteland this season outside of zack netto and at times Mike trout is that still the case Scott yeah so I'm not ready to tell you to cut Mike trout I can't do that I love baseball I could never tell you to do that if you want a narrative that tells you maybe Mike trout has brighter days coming they finally sold the team to someone who is seemingly competent at running a baseball team and Mike trout who has defended his previous owner in the past is like very clearly excited about this and he should be right this this ownership group owns NFL teams NHL teams and they've been successful so maybe there's a sign for a better future in for the angels of anaheim because they have let Mike trout down in every single way when they had trout and otani together they never were above 500 that's amazing two of the best players to have played in our lifetimes on the same team and you couldn't you couldn't win
games it's not easy so I also will point out that Wade mechler and Vaughn Grissom maybe popping up on your best for the last 15 days lists or whatever they've given us flashes here and there mechler's more of a point sky both of them have generally fizzled out really fast after they heat up so by the time you grab them it might already be too late so they're just in the desperate here and don't forget that that at least one of those trout otani teams also had Anthony Rendon I didn't forget I just we tried to just let it go that'd be like Los Angeles sorry go ahead I said yeah like they also had lots of guys right like Anthony Rendon is just one of those guys yeah I mean kind of he was kind of one of those guys I don't know if that even counts but he had a locker I guess did they let him keep that supposed I mean supposedly yes yeah we move on to the other
Los Angeles team I think that might be the first time that they've ever been referred to as the other Los Angeles team it's the Dodgers um show hey otani Freddy Freeman Mooky bets and all the rest of the stars but you have a couple of guys here who are in the dropable camp a little bit surprising talk about those guys is it though is it really so yeah otani Freeman bets go ahead and keep running with them that's it been on the downturn for a while he's turned it back so so that's a lot better I haven't written the plurbs about the mechler really need to remember to do that so three guys in the dropable list the one that's played the best lately is Teosca Hernandez but he's been so up and down the season mostly down I don't care enough uh the name that you've all been asking me for is Kyle Tucker Kyle Tucker is in the drop able tier he's just an outfielder he looks worse now than he has all season to be honest the bad about qualities is bad as it's been uh so like what for now like yes we'll see how the projections kind of chew everything up and spit it out going into next season I don't know what is wrong
with Kyle Tucker but it's bad he's been really bad he's a he's a he's a fringe top 150 hitter all season he looks even worse than that now go ahead let him go I'm sure there's an outfielder worth scooping Scott we're halfway through we move to the Miami Marlins auto Lopez leads the charge and a bunch of guys that are kind of like babies for me the rest of the way yeah so um you know auto Lopez I even reference it if he was a first or second if he was like a first baseman an outfielder he might just be solid but he's not a start because he's second baseman he's got a 16 game on base streak even though he's been bad so far in the second half uh you know he's got five steals over those last 16 games he should be a little better the big thing for the marlins there's there about to face a lot of lefties and that impacts this line up quite a bit so her bets are Hernandez is really the outfielder I want on this team for the next uh for the next week or so because of all the lefties that's what he's good at hitting he's a
righty he's going to be in the middle of that order he's going to be hitting against all those lefties Kyle Stowers and Javier Sonoja have been better than her better Hernandez uh at times the season and I'd be a lot more excited about them if uh if they were better uh so Sonoja is a righty and he'll get to see some more lefties so he has an a 62 OPS against those southpods so uh he's the utility guy that you can keep using uh when they face more righties it's a 702 OPS so I don't really care as much Kyle Stowers he's playing against both he strikes out a bunch though I want to see how he performs against these lefties coming up before I want to call Kyle Stowers more than a streamer uh dropable guys Joe Mack he just hasn't been that good lately Griffin Konaine I know he had that really really hot stretch and that's probably still burned in your mind from when you scooped him but he sits against most lefties and they're about to face a bunch of them so he's just going to keep sitting and his contact issues are extreme so he just has a hard time the guy that surprised me the most is Jacob Marcy so his last 11 games he has a 965 OPS pair of
homers pair of steals he's it's a desperate thing for me but it's like hey if you need a streaming outfield there was some speed Jacob Marcy you know such a terrible start to the season but he's redeeming himself just a little bit he's never going to be that top 50 guy we hope for but he can be a backend streamer at times right now it's just desperate but maybe he's a streamer I got I got multiple Jacob Marcy home run notifications on my phone from fantasy based fall apps and I was like is this an error like is this a typo is the first time in a long time I've got more than one of those in a week so you're just thinking like are they tracking these when he's in the minors like I don't know where well I don't know what he's doing right now he's isn't well the last couple of days finally right Milwaukee Brewers Jackson Cheerio willing Pintrares of course leading the charge in Milwaukee um a handful of other guys that are in your solid tier um a couple names down in the droppable and
desperate that uh fantasy managers might be hesitant to drop yeah I mean no huge surprises here I will point out Bryce Tarrang is really struggled in the second half he's only got three stills only hitting 220 but the offense is going runs he hits at the top of it he's capable of being really good so I'm not ready to call him just a streamer or even dropable yet especially because he's second baseman Jake Bowers just walks or strikes out all the time uh 24 like his walk rates over 24% to strike out rates over 25% combined it's like exactly 50 over his last 20 games but what he does hit the ball he's still hitting it pretty well hits in the middle of the order so you might as well just keep rolling with him uh Christian Yelich has been a lot better uh these last couple of games so less 13 games he has 19 combined runs in our bi and an opso we're a thousand uh Garrett Mitchell had this huge spike back in the first half of July where he looked like an absolute freak just crushing the ball and then it went back to his normal levels and hasn't shown any signs
of returning so if for some reason you're still holding on to him you can let him go and Lewis Lara has only played against lefties but when he's played he's hit the ball well they have a couple more lefties coming up so you could talk yourself into Lewis Lara I have him in the desperate tier but frankly I just I don't know that I trust the underlying skills enough he's just a rookie he's on the short side of Platoon it's hard hard to call someone in that situation more than just desperate we move on to Minnesota where Luke Keishal is doing the poor man's Julio Rodriguez thing where he has a terrible start to the season uh and then hits like gangbusters for a small small sample size in the second half making us all want to draft him really high again um talks me about the twins including Keishal yeah Keishal slugging 493 heading into Thursday uh double uh more than double this home run total in august uh went from four to nine through that month uh look I don't expect
the power to stick around but he should be able to hit for average even next season so just you know get it while the getting's good uh just keep plugging Keishal in he's in the auto start tier Cody Clemens cleaned up I was really really worried about him uh about a month ago when the play discipline fell off a cliff and then his performance fell off a cliff but he cleaned up that play discipline he's mashing the ball again so he's in the solitaire because any given time that play discipline seems to just fall out uh and he kind of returns to being not very exciting but while he's hot you got to keep going with him Roy Lewis looking a little bit better of late he's third base so you don't really have other options so I call him solid if you want to call him streamer that's fine the two rookies Walter Jenkins, Kaelin Colpepper uh both very exciting young prospects Jenkins more so than Colpepper long term both hitting at the bottom of the order production may be erratic because they're rookies hitting at the bottom of the order so they only get three or four played appearances of game but you know there's they're in that streamer tier but you're probably going to go ahead and keep rolling with them Ryan Jeffers hitting the ball well Josh Bell
you can stream them a catcher and first if you need to uh and Byron Bucksdon probably won't be back in time to matter but there's a chance he gets in with like two weeks left if you're in a playoff I'd probably be fine just letting him go if you don't have room on the IL in a roto I probably just want to wait until I hear a more definitive timeline but if I don't hear one for the next week I might not keep waiting the New York Metz led by Perennial All-Star Wands Soto and the Auto Star Tier Francisco Lendor is finally graduated to the solid tier after what has been kind of a lackluster season um and then a bunch of names below that Scott yeah and I mean with Lendor he's not hitting super well so if you want to call him a streamer that's fine I still not sure that I could justify dropping him so I guess it doesn't really matter like some of these distinctions are kind of uh meaningless like to call a guy Auto Star versus solid in practice that
probably means nothing you just keep starting them but I am trying to show that if a guy is in Auto Star he's not just going to jump straight down to streamer like there's a step between where's a guy that's in solid could be a streamer in a week or two if things go really poorly right so that's that's where the difference is uh the two guys that you're probably worrying about are Carson Bench boba-shet both of them have kind of struggled a bit of late Carson Bench has still been the best rookie for them even though AJ Ewing had the better uh badding order spot for a long time he's finally lost that lead off role AJ Ewing in which case is very dropable Marcus Simian's been a little hot lately but I still consider him desperate because I don't think he's very good anymore uh I mean obviously he's better than me he's better than most humans who play baseball but from a fantasy context I get to choose between him and the other humans that are better so I kind of go with them and Jared Young and Brett Baddie might do things that you know make you think that you should stream them but that's like a 15 team thing don't really worry about them
we head over to the other side of New York the Bronx Bombers Ben Rice is in the auto start here and then it's a bunch of guys um which is terrible say about the Yankees but until Aaron Judge comes back it's basically just Ben Rice and a bunch of guys jazz chiseled has actually hit really well of late I know here's the thing about jazz chiseled and and I wondered why I got so much hate about him throughout the season I'm like yeah he's tricky but not more so than other guys and that's because points players were using my ranks and jazz chiseled would be three to four tears lower in a pointy he's not necessarily a guy you have to roster when he's cold in a pointy league especially with a strikeout penalty because he doesn't put a lot of balls in play pretty much all of his values tied up in purely home runs and steals he doesn't get that many RBI doesn't score that many runs uh in relation to how many home runs and steals he gets so really he's like at his absolute worst in points so in a pointy jazz chiseled home is in that like streamer dropable range
he's hot right now so you might as well hold him but otherwise you can wait Spencer Jones is a guy who's also surprised me quite a bit um I was really really low on him his first go around he's made some real significant changes he still sits against about half of lefties but the zone contact has gotten a lot better uh in this second go around it's hovering around 80% you know that's a magic number for me it was 70% in the minors that's what made me so cold on him it's gotten a lot better in his second go around in the majors and that makes a huge difference for a guy who can swing as hard as he can and hit the balls hard as he can yes the strikeouts are still really really high but he did get a look at hitting fourth on Tuesday he then hit sixth against the lefty on Wednesday uh we'll see how he goes against next righty but he's really really hot right now I doubt he's on your waiver wire but he's really turned things around the season he also has nine stolen bases so Spencer Jones a guy who uh really I'm kind of thinking about about for next season Jose Caballero doesn't play as much as he used to uh Luis Garcia Jr uh also as a streamer
along with Jose Caballero uh Luis Garcia Jr you're probably using him as a second baseman so you don't really have a lot of choice but if you've been using him at first you might there might be a better option out there uh Trent Christian George Lambert Jr they're both droppable uh Christian is an appear platoon now Lambert is struggling quite a bit and then of course there's Aaron judge he is they they are saying that judge will return uh in the next uh homestay I think it's like uh it's in about two weeks so I think he'll be around long enough that you should probably keep holding your arm if someone's cutting you should maybe scoop him back up uh unless your playoff ends early so if you're in one of those leagues it ends there playoff like next weekend because football starting fine don't worry about it but if your season goes through the end of the year uh you should definitely be scooping up Aaron judge because like there are leagues where he got dropped because there was concerns about when he'd be back but it looks like you'll get two weeks or so two and a half weeks out of them and Aaron judge can do a lot of damage in that time. We'll take a quick break and we come back we'll talk about the final 10 teams in the MLB on scouts top 150 hitters list.

hacks and jacks i'm your host bread forward here with senior analyst got you talking hitters on pitch or list we're going through scouts list alphabetically by team this week where scot is kind of organized things differently for us as we enter the fantasy baseball playoffs and crunch time and road o leagues scot we've gotten through 20 teams were down to the philadelphia philies where brice harper and kyle shorber lead the charge yeah not much to say about them in the streamer tears or louise louise arise alieckbone brison stot stop struggled a bit of late so if you want to call him dropable you can but it's second base so i don't know what your options are the big news here is that in my dropable tier is trade turn trade turners just not hitting well i know he's like short stops not quite as dire as the others i know you spent an early around pick entre turner but it's not like you can get it back right like it's gone that that pick is is long long gone he's still hitting two thirty nine on the season and honestly it's cratering is bad as it has all year like so
he really showed some things coming out of the break that made me think everything was going to be okay but he's absolutely flatlined here towards the end of the season so if you need to drop trade turner to stay alive in your fancy playoffs do it i'm not going to stop you that there's nothing going on under the hood that suggests a turnaround is imminent it might be but not because of what we're seeing in the underlying data branded marsh also dropable he was really really hot to start the year he's had the few flashes since then but nothing really doing since then and if you really need to catch your jt real mudo plays a lot and is doing okay let's head west on the pa turnpike to pittsburg where the pirates are led by onil crews and countergryphon is on the il might be an interesting name to keep track of for the past last month of the season thanks reminding me to put his name back in the article before i release it so countergryphon is a guide be holding on to i think he'll be back with enough time to do some damage onil crews in that auto start tier i don't care about the strikeouts right he's walking plenty a swipe in bags hits the ball insanely hard a guy who's still in the solid tier but even though he's like probably
the most boring solid player on the sole list is nick unsales he just does a little bit of everything not very much mostly it's for average so go ahead and keep riding him i still think brine rentals is worth being in the streamer tier i know he's been frustrating really for the entire second half but you know he is still a good hitter and i think he's going to find some juice the dropable names as merlin valdez ever since that crazy home runs trick he just hasn't been that good hits home runs here and there but the contact issues are extreme he's super super streaky i also think you can let go of rafael florist junior i know he plays quite a bit he's catcher eligible but there's lots of catchers so i wouldn't worry about him and if you're really desperate Spencer or horowitz leads off for this team let's go west to sandiego where for nando tati's junior is just otherworldly right now um which is awesome for my roto teams where i had to struggle through him for the first half but he's been great recently and then the podres pulled up ethand salis which is notable because he's the
youngest catcher to make a start since pudrid regas just 20 years old you have him in the desperate tier yeah because he's really matured defensively but offensively he's not that special like someone asked me recently if i'd rather have if they should cut basayo for ethand salis and i know salis is the hot new thing and maybe overalls prospects someone might have them close together because salis is really really good defensive skills and basayo doesn't but they're not even close to the same hitting prospect asayo is just way way better so i don't make that mistake if for some reason you were still holding some odd tailor from his little hot streak earlier in the season let him go that's not necessary he doesn't really have a starting role in this team right now some of you might want me to put tie france in the auto start tier it's more of a semantic thing right like you're not gonna venture do anything with tie france to keep him rolling jackson merrill mani machado they've been a little bit struggling lately but not enough for me to do anything about it zander bogarts is hitting fairly well so he's a streamer if you need a short stop like a year maybe cut and trade turn and you want to scoop up a different old guy zander bogarts is there for you and i think that
would be just a fine move uh but yeah that that's about it for this offense it's most like there's four really really good players one streamer and then a bunch of like men who cares well move from sandy ego up the coast to san francisco where rafael devers is trying to single handedly carry the giants offense um talk to me about the giants which is crazy when you think about how bad he was to start the season uh but yeah he's he's just rolling now he's fixed some of those contact issues hitting the ball better when it's in the zone hitting the ball hard brice eldritch is really really hot right now uh he was someone that was easy to drop even a week ago and is now you know looking like he's pretty good this is just the way it goes with some of these young particularly left handed all power guys uh they're just really really up and down on the other end of that spectrum is guy like jung huli i think at a points league he might be closer to solid in a standard league it's just ratios and those ratios end up being really empty when only two other dudes on the team hit uh and one of them doesn't hit all the time uh willia domis you know this teams lost a ton of guys they weren't all doing well but a domis is gone chatman's gone that
like it's i didn't know who have this lineup was when i started writing this up so i didn't know about drew gillbert and turner hill i don't think they're at all relevant in 12 team leagues but they're getting enough playing time to maybe be relevant in a 15 teamer if you need a streamer in the outfield i don't love either one but again they've got an opportunity and deeper leagues sometimes opportunities all you can ask for but yeah this this team is this offense is real bad yeah when i saw the oh slavis basabe was getting close to regular bats in this offense i was one of those things where it's like not even at the bottom like in good spot it's bad it's yeah yeah i have questions um half of them are create a player on the show so it's just it's just get a bat buster like dude here it is what are you gonna do yeah a pulse and you can pick up a baseball bat yeah you're good go ahead Seattle Mariners Randy Rosarena is just mashing the ball Cal Raleigh finally back from injury
is starting to hit the ball as well um what else going on at Seattle yeah dominant kit uh can zone he's hitting the ball very well he's a streamer keep in mind he's not creating ins lefties who you'll Rodriguez and Josh Nailer also in the streamer tier i'm not ready to call them dropable quite yet because the talent is there Josh Nailer you can call dropable if you don't need steals it hurts me a lot inside uh but if you're not really caring about adding average or steals which is a very real thing in head to head playoffs i will admit that Josh Nailer could be dropped in that format those situations and rhodo i want to hold on to him still uh coal young is definitely dropable if you're desperate jp Crawford sometimes is hot uh and then of course playing time in the infield will get all messed up again when Brendan Donovan is back but i'm not really holding on to him because i don't think he'll stay healthy and even he's healthy i don't think i have no idea how he's going to hit because he's been hurt all the time say lose cardinals uh Jordan Walker and Alex Burleson still carrying the load here Josh bias flashing the pan a couple weeks ago in his debut and his kind of not done much since and then jj weather hole is hanging out on the il hoping to return
yeah uh i mean Josh bias this is exact everything you've seen about him is true the upside is true the downside is true it's all true and that's what you get you get this guy who will occasionally just hit absolute moonshot sometimes multiple of them in a game and then other times you'll get a guy who cannot hit the ball at all i just swing it and miss him so that's the way it works for him he is dropable you can go ahead and stream someone else if you only need power i can see why i might hold on but whatever alie burleson's really struggled a bit these last two weeks or so it's all about grounders he's hitting everything on the ground that's not really been a problem with for him in the past so i think he'll snap out of that uh and finally in that the other guy in the dropable bucket evan herrera especially if you ended up grabbing another catcher early in the early in the year and have just been kind of running too if you're in an obi plie you probably can hold uh evan herrera but otherwise you you can drop them if you really need to he just isn't showing the skills that we saw at the end of last year and at times in the middle of this year uh
tampa bay raise uh junior camon arrow is one of the only guys who's actually trying to keep up with yordan alvarez in the alnbp race um he's carrying the load for the raise yandida's Chandler simpson in the solid tier that's that's kind of an interesting name Scott isn't it so Chandler simpson started the year really really poorly but they've done a lot of work with him and he's gotten a lot better uh the the base running is you know the base stealing is much better than it was he's obviously he's always going to hit for average he's no longer in a pure platoon he doesn't lead off anymore he hits mostly he's been mostly hitting fifth or sixth uh but he did hit second on third day and again he's just been incredibly consistent since like late june early july uh stealing a bunch of bases but just keep in mind he has one home run and his entire professional career just one he hit it in double a uh and that might be the only one he ever hits so when i say there's no power
we mean like zero zero zero power he doesn't hit that many doubles either he gets a weird number of triples because he's super pretty professed but he can't really do anything else yeah so uh it's been a lot better for him so my outlook on Chandler simpson's a lot better uh these days than it was especially the start the season and really maybe at any period before guys in the streamer tear Jonathan or and i really like the underlying skills but he hasn't been that great lately and then Liam hicks who was an absolute stud to start the year is now mostly a points league guy or someone you play just because he does get playing time but he's not like an exciting catcher for me anymore uh and if you're real desperate centric mollons is out there still on basis sometimes and hitting a little bit in a 15-teamer. Texas Rangers rostering what might be the most frustrating hitter in fantasy baseball this season in kory seager uh as well as a handful of other names got taught us through the Rangers. i don't even know if he's not he might be the most frustrating player in baseball this season but i also don't know if he's the most frustrating player on this team. Brandon Nemo has been insanely
up and down this year he either looks like the best hitter or he looks terrible so i don't really know what to do with him. Wyatt Langford has all this talent and it times again looks like one of the best hitters in baseball and then the rest of the time is hitting like 230 and you're just wondering why you put yourself through this again. Both they're all in the solitude right now because they're hitting right now. Uh and then of course the guy who's been the most consistent of all of them is also the worst hitter of this group by a wide margin in ezekiel d'Aran. He's got i mean it's smoking mirrors all the way very vargas really everything hits just happens to land. I will be fading him for 2027 drafts but for the rest of 2026 hop aboard baby like you might as well just run with it he's eligible everywhere he'll continue to be that uh the one guy do want to point out is Jake burger so over slash 13 games Jake burger as a 20% barrel rate 50% hard hit rate is expected woba's 387 that's really really high also over his last 13 games he's hitting 186 with a 293 real woba
right so he's hitting the ball really really hard and getting nothing for it so I do think things are going to turn around for Jake burger he's in the streamer tier he's probably like the worst streamer of all the streamers I listed but it was good enough for him to be in streamer especially if he's someone you've been thinking about dropping under the hood looks really good so Jake burger might be a guy you hold on to a little longer if for some reason uh you feel like rostering jock Peterson he's a lefty who sometimes gets hot and then otherwise really stinks so if he starts getting hot again go ahead give it a whirl uh you know ride that wave but otherwise I'm not really that interested Toronto blue jays uh if if the Texas Rangers weren't the most frustrating lineup in baseball this fancy year it might be the blue jays uh Vlad Guerrero still no home runs at home so I had him when I first started writing this article it was Wednesday and Valdito was in the dropable category then he had that big game uh I moved him up to streamer but like if you
dropped or want to drop Vlad Guerrero junior that's okay right like get I mean I I want to be heard again I love Vlad junior I think the overall talent is so good so I'm willing to believe it's like this thing where there's a great quote from a video game dragon age where uh one of the characters kind of says you know men are always willing to believe like certain things and one of them is that a uh woman is interested in you right always willing to believe she's interested that always willing to believe a person needs saving always willing to believe that this woman is interested in I'm always willing to believe vald goger junior's breaking out of this uh but he probably isn't so in reality you can probably drop him but I I didn't put that on there yet uh Okamoto Springer there in the solid year Brett Bateman is a name that's been talked about quite a bit lately he's leading off for them uh I don't think he has a lot of power I don't think he has a lot of anything except for batting average but in a lead off spot that can work uh if the rest of the line
up around you hits and then Nathan Luke's if you're desperate you can go ahead and stream him and hey your boy I assume Anthony Santander might play some games at the end of the year absolutely irrelevant for fantasy and real life but also possibly true so I just thought I'd throw that out there Scott you'll enjoy this um in one of my points leagues are three out of our four starting infielders this season were Vlad, Tray Turner and Austin Riley um so we held them all season and missed the playoffs good times I mean Vlad has been more useful in points than he has anywhere else not terribly useful but more useful we move on to the Washington nationals are 30th team out of 30 James Woods CJ Abrams, Dale and Lyle looking good everybody else question mark well CJ Abrams isn't looking good over his last 16 games coming in the Thursday he's been one of
the worst hitters in all baseball uh but here's the thing the dude swings it everything everything like see if it's anywhere near the zone CJ Abrams is swinging and when you're that type of player two things happen you get really really hot and you get really really cold and just the amazing thing for him is we just hadn't seen the cold most of the season and we're seeing it now in a really really big way this isn't a pitchers have figured him out or everything's fading away this is just what it's like to be a really really aggressive hitter right even at their best they have these moments where there's not seeing the ball that well and what's happening with Abrams he's putting a ton of bad pitches in play right that's just what's happening pitches he shouldn't have swung at he's swinging at and he's putting them in play and they're turning into easy outs so that could fix itself at some point he's too talented to let go uh and with these aggressive guys it's not like a slow gradual rise up it usually it like sometimes it just clicks and all of a sudden the ball looks like a beach ball coming at him and he's reading the zone well and he's he's hitting balls where they're supposed to go I just not doing that yet so I give it a rest and then of course Dale and
Lyle for the second year in a row looks like he's just going to explode in September so last season he hit six homers with a you know one a 1.212 OPS last September since August 21st this year he has a 1.308 OPS five homers two steals do it's just on absolute fire so yeah he's you know the only reason he's not auto star is he's actually been bad quite a bit he's probably been on the waiver wire and every 12 team league at some point this season before someone scoop him up if you do need to drop someone um Dylan Cruz if you're still holding him would have been indropable but I put him down in desperate because I assumed many of you already let go of Dylan Cruz not that excited same for abe melacortes Jacob young has been fine but he's really more of a desperate play for me because he's kind of been up and down all season he doesn't really bring any power uh Brady House has been decent streamer at third base if you need to replace like an Austin Riley or something like that you could go for Brady House he's striking out a boatload of plate discipline looks awful but he is hitting the ball well and this offense is starting to turn things around a little bit after being incredibly bad in August after being amazing in June I've never seen a team have two back-to-back
months that were so different trade deadlines a big part of that losing James Woods a big part of that uh but yeah that's how it goes losing Curtis Mead was a big part of that uh but whatever uh the drop-all guy Nessa Nunez if you've been holding him for stolen bases just stop he's not going to do anything else let it go get some nice moments but they're over. Scott we had some nice moments tonight uh but it is over as well um we got through all 30 teams you deserve a large drink of water or an adult beverage of your choice um tell the people before we sign off where to find you and your work please yeah you can find me at if the chew fits on twitter uh scotchew.pictureless.com on blue sky although I regrettably am not on there as much as I probably should be I'm not on twitter as much as I should be uh but if you send me messages I will do my best to get back to you and for those who are seeing this on video don't hate on the Mac Daddy's the Kalamazoo Mac Daddy's they're not a real team anymore but they were in the North Woods league it's some of the coolest merch that's out there they were on ESPN briefly
