Greens' Leaflet Sparks Outrage: Dobson's Widow Speaks Out

0:00On April 16th, family and friends of the late Labour MP, Frank Dobson, are furious over a green party leaflet that claims he would join them if starting. His career today, the leaflet went out in the Holborn and Coven Garden Ward ahead of the May 7th Council elections. Labour councillor Sue Vincent wrote the letter to residents, pushing votes for the Greens based on what she says was a chat with Dobson before his. Death nearly seven years ago, she's been a councillor there for 24 years, making her endorsement a big deal for the party. Dobson's wife, Janet, fired back in a letter, saying the family's astonished and upset, she stressed he never thought of leaving Labour, even during disagreements like over the Iraq War, and always fought for change from inside the party. Dobson served as MP for over 35 years in that area, plus as health secretary and council leader. Patrick's call it unethical, to use his unverified words, now that he's gone. But the Greens aren't apologizing and stand by the personal letter.
