Granbury Council Hears Rezoning for Data Center Power Plant

Grandbury City Council is set to hold public hearings this Tuesday on rezoning over 2,100 acres of recently annexed ranch land, known as Knox Ranch, to make way for a data center power plant. They're also rolling out new guidelines to cut down noise, lighting, and visual impacts on nearby homes. Back in June, Dallas-based bilateral energy applied for a state permit to build electric generating units right in the heart of that property at 1225 Meadow Wood Road, Texas Environmental Regulators Green Lidit, the next month for eight simple cycle power turbines and 87 linear generators all fueled by natural gas to power big data centers and AI operations. Residents showed up in droves, furious, to a council meeting on January 6th, when annexation first hit the table, worried about industrial sprawl.
