This is Cory, and here's what's trending across entertainment and celebrity news right now. Victoria Gidey is fighting to keep her son Carmine Agnello out of prison. The 63-year-old former reality star wrote a letter to a federal judge asking for probation instead of jail time. Agnello pleaded guilty last year to a $1.1 million COVID fraud scheme. He's 39 and faces sentencing soon. Gidey has chronic kidney disease and says she needs a transplant to avoid serious health risks. Her son stepped up as the only compatible donor offering one of his kidneys. She calls it the gift of life, and worries prison could make the surgery too dangerous. In her letter, Gidey described Agnello as her miracle child, kind and generous. She noted he was well liked by his teachers growing up and would never knowingly do wrong. He's also the grandson of the late crime boss John Gidey. Prosecutors are pushing back hard. They want the judge to sentence him to between 31 and 44 months behind bars.
They also seek $1.25 million in restitution. Sentencing is set for Friday March 13 in federal court. We'll have to wait and see if the judge takes the family health plea into account.
