I've faced battles within my family.

I've had to fight battles concerning my help.

I've even faced battles in my mind.

All of these different areas have been under attack at one point or another.

But let me tell you something.

I am still standing.

I'm standing because of Jesus Christ.

I still have strength because the joy of the Lord is my strength.

I haven't given up.

I haven't thrown in the towel because I serve and awesome God.

I serve a big God and all powerful and mighty God.

Perhaps this year has been tough on you.

Maybe it's been tough for you.

Perhaps the enemy has been fighting you in multiple areas.

But Saints, I want to encourage you to get to the point where you say,

enough is enough.

Tell the devil no more.

Tell him that this struggle is not your portion.

And I'm talking to the person who's tired.

You're tired of being defeated.

You're tired of feeling as though as though you cannot overcome the mountain

that's before you.

If you're at this point, I want you to know that God said,

I am who I am for a reason.

If you need to be rescued, God says, I am your rescue.

If you need to be healed, God says, I am your healer.

If you need your family back together, if you need your marriage restored,

God says, I am the one who restores.

I am the one who men's broken hearts and I make them whole again.

And Saints, I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict you at this time.

May he speak to your heart.

May he open your ears and your eyes.

I encourage you to begin to speak the name that is above every other name.

That's the name of Jesus Christ.

If you can only get his name at the center of your heart,

if you can only get his name on the throne of your mind,

that's when things happen.

For those who hunger, he's the bread of life.

For those who thirst, he is the fountain of living water.

And so begin to confess and declare,

Lord Jesus, victory belongs to you.

Lord Jesus, I am triumphant in you.

I will overcome because of you, my God.

Jesus, you're the cornerstone of my life.

You're the bridge over troubled water.

Begin to confess his name and declare who he is.

He is the light of my salvation, my great banner of hope,

my healer, the waymaker, the holy one,

the lion of the tribe of Judah.

Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega.

He is the author and the finisher.

He is almighty, the everlasting father.

I need Jesus because I can't save myself.

I can't redeem myself.

I can't deliver myself.

And there sure isn't any other human being on this planet

who can offer me redemption or salvation

or eternal life like Jesus Christ can.

So I have to be honest.

At times when things are tough,

I find myself just saying and praying

four simple words over and over again.

Be with me, Jesus.

Be with me, Lord.

At times when I'm tempted,

I find myself quietly praying,

give me strength, Lord.

Give me strength, Jesus.

And if you can relate to what I'm saying,

then I encourage you to stand, child of God.

Stand firm in the Word of the Lord.

Take those things that weigh you down.

Take those burdens that slump your shoulders

and hand them over to Jesus Christ.

Stand by me, God.

Be with me, Jesus.

Give me strength, Lord.

Jesus died on a cross.

He did rise again in victory,

but the fact that he had such an unpleasant

and painful death on the cross makes me think.

How great must his love have been to endure such pain?

How great of an example he said

about being obedient to God the Father

by him willing to sacrifice everything down to his life?

So when Luke 14 verse 27 says,

whoever does not bear his own cross

and come after me cannot be my disciple,

for that very same verse.

Whoever does not carry his own cross,

expressing a willingness to endure

whatever may come and follow after me,

believing in me,

conforming to my example in living

and if need be suffering

or perhaps dying because of faith in me

The question is, what do you stand for?

Do you carry your cross and stand for the love of Jesus Christ?

Do you stand to represent the life of Jesus Christ,

a life that was marked with righteousness, obedience, prayer

and forgiveness?

Are you carrying your cross?

You see, we need to truly examine ourselves.

The mouth can so easily profess something,

but it's in your heart and it's in your actions

that the truth is revealed.

What do you stand for?

Do you stand with a willing heart?

Should God speak to you today?

Would you be willing to sacrifice

the most important thing in your life for him?

In life, the enemies you face

will come in many different forms.

They can come in the form of people

and unfortunately, sometimes those people

may be family members.

Sickness is an enemy because it attacks your health.

A spirit of heaviness, depression.

Both those can be enemies because they attack your mind

and your heart.

This world and all that it has to offer

can actually be an enemy because the pleasures of the world

they will harm your fate and they will try to tear down

your relationship with Jesus Christ.

But you see what's interesting about the enemies of life

is that they come to reveal many things within you.

You see, if God's Word is really in you,

if it's really in your heart,

then that's where you'll run when you're under attack.

But listen, if you're someone who has a half-hearted prayer

life or just some casual relationship with the Lord,

then how do you think you will react

when an enemy comes up against you?

Because at one point or another,

we will all come up against something or someone

and enemy, whether it's visible or invisible,

seen or unseen, physical or spiritual.

Sooner or later, you will face opposition,

whether it's someone or something that is against you.

But the important thing is how will you react?

Lord Jesus, contend for us. Fight for us God.

Defend us. We are not capable of fighting for ourselves.

But Lord, we know that we are in Your care.

And so right now, Lord, we pray and ask that the Holy Spirit which strengthen our faith today.

May He remind us that when the troubles of life start to overwhelm us, we have a friend in Jesus.

When our problems are many and we need relief when we need peace,

I pray that the Holy Spirit would be ever so close to our hearts and remind us that we have a friend in Jesus.

We have a defender in Jesus.

I am grateful that we serve a living God and you are God who is more than able to carry our burdens.

You are able to give us rest.

And I know that you are the all-powerful God.

There is nothing that is too difficult in our lives for you to deal with.

God, there is nothing too big for you. And for that, we are grateful.

Lord, let us transfer to You everything that seeks to weigh us down.

There is nothing too big for You to handle.

No problem too great and no challenge too difficult for You to overcome.

It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary.

Death and taxes.

While some have found a way to avoid taxes,

the truth is that death cannot be avoided.

While many may think that death is the end, according to the Bible, death is not the end.

We will all stand before God after death.

God will judge us to be guilty or not.

We all should be guilty due to our sin.

However, those who are under the blood of Jesus will be forgiven and judged as righteous.

We can't plead the faith of our parents or the righteousness of our neighbor.

In Acts 17, verse 30-31, the Bible says,

the times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent,

because He is fixed today on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed.

And of this, He has given assurance to all by raising Him from the dead.

Paul here is preaching to a very educated group of Greek philosophers.

Many of them would have been some of the top scholars in Athens.

However, no matter their background, Paul tells them they will one day stand before God to be judged.

The same is true for us today.

We will stand before God and be judged for our sin, no matter our background.

You may be a top biblical scholar, an actor.

He is an agonist doctor of the L.P.1 receptor.

It's that you don't realize how great God's love is in forgiving you,

so you don't have true repentance.

Take time to imagine yourself in front of God on Judgment Day.

Remember, it will simply be you answering for yourself.

As you stand before God seated on His throne, He lays out your sin.

Your guilty of lying, stealing, hating, murder in your heart, adultery in your heart,

and a list that goes on a mile long.

What are you going to say?

You can try to lay out a list of good things you've done, but that does not erase your sin.

You can try to bring help in to defend you, such as a parent or a friend,

but nobody is in that room but you and God.

You can even lay out your church attendance record, but that does not clean the stain of sin.

The only way that you can be saved is if, while you are still living,

today, while you are still breathing,

accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior over your life and repent so that His precious blood

can cleanse you.

And I'll end with this note.

Once you realize the magnitude of Jesus dying on the cross for you,

it leads to you living a life of repentance here on earth.

Ephesians 613 says,

therefore take up the whole armor of God

that you may be able to withstand in the evil day

and having done all to stand.

I would like to take a moment to deconstruct this verse

and what it means to us as children of God.

The Bible says, therefore, take up the whole armor of God.

The first thing to notice is that this is an instruction.

We are told to take up the whole armor of God.

It's not a question of whether you can or cannot take this up.

No, it's a clear instruction.

This is something you need to do.

The second thing is that you only need armor if you're in a war.

You only need armor in battle.

You only need armor when there is an opposing force

that's coming against you.

And when the Bible says the whole armor,

this says to me that there are multiple parts

that need to be taken up.

Anything other than the whole armor

would leave you vulnerable.

So it's important that we follow this instruction

and not only take up parts of the armor,

but the whole armor of God.

Now the second part to this verse says

that you may be able to withstand in the evil day.

This statement has a level of certainty to it.

You need to take up the whole armor of God

so that you can withstand in the evil day.

Now, in this part of the verse,

I get the impression that the Bible is warning us.

The Bible is warning us that there will be an evil day.

A day when we will have to fight the forces of evil.

And the forces of evil, they can attack in many forms.

However, if we are wearing the whole armor of God,

then we will be able to withstand anything

the devil aims in our direction.

Now that we have a better understanding of this verse,

I want to encourage you and I want to rally you up.

Yes, you are in a war.

If you are a true disciple of Christ, you will be at war.

You're at war against the rulers, against the authorities,

against the powers of this dark world,

and against the spiritual forces of evil

and the heavenly realms.

Now, in these few moments, I want to remind you

that the word is central to your defensive stance

as well as your offensive stance as a Christian.

So, when you face the evil day, remember 2 Thessalonians 3 verse 3,

but the Lord is faithful, who will establish you

and guard you from the evil one.

Remember 2 Theronomy 31 verse 6,

be strong and of good courage.

Do not fear nor be afraid of them.

For the Lord your God, he is the one who goes with you.

He will not leave you nor forsake you

when you face the evil day.

Psalm 46 verse 1 says,

God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help and trouble.

The Lord is with you,

and the promises of God should give you the confidence

to be bold in the face of evil.

Everyone you walk with,

there's some level of relationship,

everything you walk with,

there is also a purpose too.

And if you look in the lives of men and women today,

you'll find that people walk in agreement

with different kinds of people.

Some choose to walk with those who are ambitious

and career-driven.

Some choose to hold on to childhood friends,

even though their lives are heading

in very different directions.

Others choose to walk in the counsel of the wicked,

following their advice and example.

But here's the thing.

There are others who choose to walk

with their heads held high.

They are proud of what they've achieved,

proud of their accomplishments

and their success.

Then there are those who choose to walk

with their heads looking down.

They are ashamed of the past.

They are ashamed and scarred even by what they've done.

And at the core of all these examples,

I'm trying to provoke you.

I'm trying to challenge you

to look at yourself

and do an assessment.

Who are you walking with?

Who are you in the presence of?

Or for some, what are you walking with

and carrying around?

The most productive of the dream

to use is to see adults with obesity.

It's a recipe that could help adults

with the most productive of the dream

As they pursue those things,

so will we.

The question becomes for you,

who am I surrounding myself with?

Who you surround yourself with

becomes who you become?

If you surround yourself with people with poor attitudes about God,

it's very easy to adapt those attitudes for yourself.

However,

such as not reading the word and lacking a prayer life,

you will adopt those habits as well.

But if you surround yourself with people who read the word daily

and pray often,

you will as well.

One bad apple can spoil the rest.

However,

a bunch of good apples protect each other from spoiling.

One of the best ways to set yourself up for a godly life

is surrounding yourself with others who are living a godly life.

Let's take a look at the browsing history on your laptop,

while some of the sites you frequent

be like bad friends.

Would they encourage you to be holy and focused on a righteous God

or the opposite?

How's your Netflix account?

What sort of...

Remember who you are, Saints of God.

The devil is busy and wants to eliminate you however he can.

It is so easy to fall into the trap of negativity and toxic experiences.

It's all around us every day,

from the songs we hear on the radio,

to the evil things that come on television.

It infiltrates our home, work, and ears,

sometimes before we can even catch it.

It latches onto us like a parasite sucking the very essence of God's glory from us.

It can make you feel sick, depressed, or even angry.

Pay attention to what is taking up space in your life and causing toxic vibes.

So, for the believer in today's world,

we live in a world that's sinful, a world that glorifies sin.

It's spiritually dark and morals are, well, they're out the window.

Pleasure, pride, and selfish gain.

Those are the primary things that determine a lot of people's actions.

Now you may wonder, as we live in such a world,

how can you and I walk with the Lord?

How can we walk with Him and habitual fellowship?

How can we walk with Him and obedience?

The Bible tells us to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

It tells us to seek first the Kingdom of God and all His righteousness.

The Bible tells us not to walk in the counsel of the wicked nor stand

in the way of sinners nor sit in the seat of scoffers.

So, in order for us to truly walk with the Lord,

we need to turn our backs on the world and on what it has to offer.

We need to turn away from things, turn away from anything that side tracks you from walking

with Jesus, turn away from everything that tries to derail you from walking with Jesus.

Turn away from sin and walk with Jesus.

Do whatever it takes, even if it means being mocked and ridiculed.

Do whatever it takes, even if it means suffering and being considered an outcast.

Because although the cost is great, the reward is even greater.

There is no greater cause for which to give your life than Jesus Christ.

Count the cost.

And you will see that what you gain is worth far more than anything you could give up.

Jesus gives you a joy that doesn't depend on your circumstances.

He gives you love like you've never known.

He gives your life purpose and meaning.

But most importantly, he gives you an eternity of glory that will outlast any wealth or fame

you could ever have on this earth.

That's the reward that awaits us if we take up our cross and do whatever it takes to follow Him.

Life is truly about choices.

Where are your choices leading you?

Will you accept that this is a struggle but choose to still believe God for a way out?

Will you still choose to worship, to pray?

Yesterday is in the past and yes, we struggle with our decisions but we have power over the enemy.

We have been given power to defeat anything and everything that may tempt us to make the wrong

choice and risk our relationship with God.

And so understand me.

It's okay to struggle with making the right decisions but remember that although you may struggle,

ultimately you have the power to overcome and be triumphant.

Now listen to this carefully.

Faith is the only time you are allowed to quit.

Quit trying to do it all, quit trying to be your own savior until God about it.

Your reality is created through your faith.

The fact that you are in difficult times or difficult situations may not be your doing

but it is the strength of your faith that will get you out of it.

So there is no losing when you have Jesus.

David said in Psalm 139 verse 8,

If I ascend into heaven, you are there.

If I make my bed and hell be hold, you are there.

In other words, God is always there.

He's there when life seems heavenly and he's there when it feels like you're going through hell.

He's there when you don't have a care in the world and he's there when you're walking

through the valley of the shadow of death.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

You simply cannot break a person who was in Christ.

Jesus can bring change to the worst of circumstances.

He can speak calm to the worst of storms in your life.

And so your security, our security as children of God,

is in knowing that greater is He who is in me than He who is in the world.

So have faith that your steps are ordained.

Your steps are ordered by the hand of the Lord.

You can't be broken child of God.

You can't.

I had to look deep at what was holding me back.

I had to find those things and really say,

I'm leaving you behind so that I can follow Jesus.

Anything draining and everything toxic had to go.

Any bitterness from the failures of the past,

all the hurt and the pain I had to leave it all behind.

And I want to encourage you to do the same too.

Take your marriage to another level,

believing God for a complete turnaround.

If it's a job or your finances,

tell God about it and believe he will make a way.

If it's your health and you need healing, tell God about it.

If you're stuck in some bad circumstance, tell God about it.

And if you're encouraged, that's good.

But that's not to say you won't come face to face with challenging tests.

But even so, don't get distracted.

Don't get discouraged.

Don't quit.

Don't waver to the left or to the right.

God's not going to leave you out to dry.

He won't leave you alone.

But like the book of Joshua chapter 1 says,

Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous?

Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed

for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

God is with you so keep your eyes on him.

And look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

The Bible never said that because we are Christians,

no trial or challenge will come our way.

Rather it says many are the afflictions of the righteous.

But the Lord delivers him from them all.

First Peter chapter 4 verse 12 and 13 says,

Beloved, do not think it's strange concerning the fiery trial,

which is to try you as those some strange thing happen to you.

But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings

that when his glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

In short, we are told to expect trials.

Don't look at them like they are strange happenings.

And we are also not to judge God's love for us

by the things that happen or don't happen in our lives.

And so we love it.

The God we serve is one who turns things around for the good of those who love and trust him.

We serve a God that turns threat to trial.

A God that took Joseph from the prison to the palace.

He is the same God yesterday, today and forever.

He is not a man that he should lie,

nor a son of man that he should change his mind.

Does he speak and then not act?

Does he promise and not fulfill?

I've been through storms.

I've felt pain.

I've been hurt.

I've asked God, where are you?

And even though the storm was hard to go through, it taught me something.

It taught me to trust in Jesus.

It taught me to pray.

It taught me to stand.

With nothing left but faith, just faith.

And like the song says, through it all, I've learned to trust in God.

Through it all, I have learned to depend on his word.

And guess what, he's never let me down.

It's easy to be defined by one moment in life.

Some people are defined by a failed relationship,

a failed business venture, a divorce even,

a career ending injury.

But in the Bible, the devil is called the accuser.

And he would love to convince you that because of that one mistake,

because of that one failure, because of that one season,

you should begin to look down on yourself.

But let me tell you that no matter the mistake you've made,

God's plan will still prevail.

God's will will still be done.

Paul said in the book of Philippians,

for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Meaning if there's a breath in his body, it's because Jesus sustains me.

It's because Jesus Christ strengthens me.

And if I'm absent from this body,

then I am present in eternity with Christ.

God will dry your tears.

He will be a bridge over troubled water.

He will be sunshine on a rainy day.

Your strength in the moments that you feel weak.

So raise your head and don't slump your shoulders.

Your God's child, you have been bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

They're in a devil that can break you.

There is an assituation that can break you.

Because greater is he who was in you than he who was in the world.

Should you need healing, submit to the Lord's will,

and if you receive healing, that's wonderful.

If you don't, then do not be disheartened.

Because perhaps there is a purpose for you to go through what you're going through.

Have an attitude that says, Lord, whatever your decision may be,

I'm going to trust in you.

May your will be done.

May your will take precedence over my life.

Healing is something that we all need in our lives.

Physical healing, emotional healing, or mental healing, whatever it may be.

Jesus Christ still heals today.

He still makes people whole today.

Jesus Christ still mends broken hearts.
