God Calls You To Intimacy, Not Activity - Kike Torres | Expositors Collective

Kike has served as lead pastor of Horizonte Querétaro since 2011. He is the founder of the Calvary Chapel School of Ministry in México and the Biblical Counseling Center at Querétaro. Kike also writes for the Gospel Coalition and is the founder and president of the Biblical Counseling Coalition in Mexico which hosts the annual National Biblical Counseling Conference, as well as regional biblical counseling conferences. He is currently pursuing ACBC certification and a MACS at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Paulina and they have one son.

Kike shares his passion for mental, physical, and spiritual health. Coming out of a professional career in sales, Kike has seen what the endless pursuit of “results” has done to friends and colleagues. As a pastor, he has seen the same pursuit take out pastors of churches large and small. He details how important it is for a pastor to seek rest and balance or risk destroying their marriage or living unworthy of their pastoral calling.

Kike recalls his first sermon that was given in the heat of the moment and was a smattering of multiple bible stories. He doesn’t know if what he said made sense but he knows God will deliver the message. Kike learned early on that it was so important to focus more on living a life full of intimacy with God rather that focus on output or activities. This was such a wonderful conversation and there will likely be a part two.
