GMP Seizes Record £18M from Criminals, Boosting Communities

That's the biggest haul ever for the force, all thanks to their economic crime team. Now, every penny is heading back into local communities through the asset recovery and sentipization scheme. They pulled this off with more than 850 proceeds of crime hearings, targeting drug dealers, fraudsters, gangs, and money launders. Officers even grabbed a significant chunk of gold along the way, turning dirty profits into community gains. Assistant Chief Constable Rick Jackson called the team's work outstanding, saying it shows their dedication to cracking cases and hitting offenders, where it hurts their wallets. This cash will fund public services, boosting trust and safety across Greater Manchester. Standout seizures included their largest ever gold forfeiture worth 1.8 million pounds from a guy at Manchester Airport last May.
