And of course, we have to dive into Joverse Jack tonight is the is the game. I mean, it's it's all in the line tonight. The bracket a huge tomorrow. The nonsense of WIP begins. The daily market one o'clock and we have to start the campaign to get one of our own into the Hall of Fame. That all starts on the show today. Good morning, Hugh. Good morning, Joe. Good morning, Philadelphia. I want to give a quick shout out to the Howard Bison. They won their bracket last night. They won their their game. I should say last night and they get the events going to go play Michigan and get dragged. Yeah, that's not going to go well. But that's awesome. I mean, shout out for a man. It's been a long time. It's been a long time since they had a chance to advance. So yeah, shout out to the Howard Bison. You called that, too, in the media. You're like, I'm the proud, I'm proud of you, the Howard. Who, who, who prayer have you have SMU? Lee, Lee hot. Oh, they got you. They go beat Lee hot. You sure? What? What's your problem? Oh, no, just room for the HBCU's man. Hey, listen, we all we got. Right. How would want me money last night? Yeah, we move out. We move out. We move out. How would you pray if you they go get they go get dragged? Well, that was that was cool last night to watch

the tournament. It was also cool to watch the end of the World Baseball Classic. Not the ending we wanted. Hugh Douglas, Venezuela, been in the swipe. Yeah, they won the World Baseball Classic last night. Nobody saw that one come. Well, not before the tournament. No, they were not one of the favorites to win. They had they played great. They beat Japan. They beat the United States. They earned it. They're the World Baseball Classic Champions. So that was a bummer. That was. But there was a moment and boy, I needed a moment. I needed a moment at a Bryce Harper in this tournament. I said it last Friday. I said it again the other day. I texted Kyle last time in the middle of the game like he's got to wake up. I needed something at a Bryce Harper and boy did he deliver as the United States was getting shut out. A thinning a guy on Bryce Harper had his moment. Harper says a fly ball on a deep center field. Better late than never. Bryce Harper has tied the championship. As an aside, Joe Davis is awesome at this and whenever he's on a call for a Bryce Harper

moment, it's just you feel it there. And here, look, last night, you know, we all have different feelings on what the World Baseball Classic means in terms of like real, not real, compared to spring training. It's obviously more. I know this from me. I walked in the last night. I walked in the last few games of the World Baseball Classic locked into it, watching it, hoping that we won. But really with an eye on Bryce Harper coming off the last year, coming off, how much he struggled down the stretch last season, coming off of how the fastball had gotten him all down the stretch last year. And I needed something to feel good about Bryce Harper heading into the season. I needed it. And for me, I got it last night. I understand who that picture was. And that's not one of the best pictures he faced in this tournament. Machado, the former reliever for the for the nationals, just now a team bit as well. But I needed a moment last night at a Bryce Harper. I think that the moment last night was a huge moment for him. And maybe it was big for him. It's bigger for me. I think it's bigger for us. I just felt like there was so much consternation from Dembrowski all the way down to the fan base about Bryce Harper.

All that. And there's one swing main is a lead again. No, I'm not going that overboard. But I needed something to feel better. And last night you, that made me feel better. The moment was there. He met the moment as he does so many times. The swing is still there. Now he's got to get the timing right. He's got to do it consistently. I know that. But I looked at last night. That some people have called this World Baseball Classic glorified spring training. It's not. Those guys care that they're given. They're all whether they're good or bad or in somewhere in the middle in terms of the rest of the world. Like the kid for pitching for USA last night. No one will claim the met starter. They said last night all last season. He touched 98 like eight times. He did eight times last night. Like those pictures are giving everything they have in the middle of March to win a world baseball classic. It mattered to me. And I think it matters to Bryce Harper. And it's certainly made me feel better about the Harper. We're getting heading into the season. Two one five five nine two nine four nine four to chime in. Did last night. You Douglas make you feel better about Bryce Harper as we head towards opening. About the same. I feel about the

same. I mean, I'm not, you know, you know, the unfortunate thing about that. The moment foul Bryce, you know, because we kind of talked about that yesterday. And we also talked about dropping him in the line up. He had a good moment, man. But unfortunately, unfortunately for him, the outcome has kind of been, you know, and I'm not hating. I'm just saying. You are hating. I'm not. I'm not. I know it's no, but I'm going to be honest with you. It's going to sound like I'm hating. Because you're not. It's going. It's going to sound like I'm hating Joe, but I'm not. But how many moments have has brave. We're off and running. Tongue tight. You know, I'm going to start doing those exercises when you start where you're like, I want to try to get my voice right. But anyway, the moments always, he has those big moments. Yeah. Well, the outcome is always the same for the most part. You know, he didn't, he didn't win. They didn't win. Well, it's not his fault. I mean, it's not saying it's his fault, but he's the only one that's not that knocked in runs. But all I'm saying is, you know,

when it came across to feed all Bryce Harper gives up his team a much needed boost. Well, he did. Yeah, they would have got shut out. I mean, they still he did tie the game. But you are, does that not show you that it's a teacher? You're a, you're a, you're a, you're a complete hater. So you don't feel any better upright. Hey, I was told that ain't enough hating is where I go. You know, it's amazing. We start the show today. We start the show today. Do you feel better uprights heading into the season? You know what I heard from Douglas? Hey, hey, hey, here's the translation. That was hate. He pinned the laws on him. I'm going to give, I'm going to give, I'm going to give the headline to Justin doing the video. I'm going to give the headlines to everyone listening. Well, Hugh Douglas just said was Bryce Harper still a loser. I mean, that is what you just said, a Bryce Harper still a loser. You know what I just said here. I said I choose violence today. So yeah, I'm just going to hate it. I'm hate it. But it wasn't his fault. They lost you to it last night. I'm just like, isn't it ironic? My man. Why is ironic? And unfortunately, unfortunately, no, it is unfortunate. I'm not hating a price,

but it's unfortunate that it happened a way to do it. And he got, he got the boost that he needed. And it was unfortunate that the time that it happened, we still didn't get to do it. Yeah, look, it's unfortunate because I just, I'll put, just say it myself, forget his hate. I do wonder as time goes on with his career. This is just kind of his fate, right? His destiny that he, he has these big moments, but his team doesn't win. I mean, we saw it in 2022. We saw it in 23. And he doesn't have a ring or a medal or whatever on his neck or his finger. We know that. That's, that's been his career so far. We all hope that changes. I think that is, it's natural to have that feeling like, is he going to get one of these? Is he going to win something at some point? But last night, the moment the home run made me feel better. I have had concern all off season into the spring training, into the world baseball classic that he just didn't look right, that he was getting fastballs blown by him. And I think it is, while it's fair to point out that that picture, and I said it a few minutes ago, is not one of the better ones he faced this tournament, that the Machado guy. I don't think he's pitched the Major League since 2023. He's, he's just a guy now. But he got it. He hit the proverbial monkey office. Yes. And I have to be fair because I did say

the other day, and I've said the whole tournament that if he struggled, I was going to think about that heading into the season. And it was going to cause concern. Yeah. So I can't sit here now and say that didn't mean anything to me because it did. Now, if he had struck out in that spot, I would have come in here and say, Oh, there's not going well. Right. He couldn't have got a guy that throwing slop up there. He did hit him. It was a huge home run. A great call by Joe Davis. Unfortunately, we lost in the end, but I do feel better. I feel better reprised Harper and I feel better, but where he could go as we get ready for opening day two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four. That is a hop aboard. The last that make you feel better reprised two hits, including the home run in the eighth inning to tie it with a clutch moment for team USA. I feel better. Hugh Douglas price. Still a loser, according to Douglas over here. Kyle, how you feeling? I wish I could get there with you. Yeah. I mean, I'm not going to go as far as you did. You, I mean, Hugh took it away too clearly. I mean, that was unbelievable. He's doing it. First baseman win losses over here. Oh, that was why. I mean, Harper still a loser says that was crazy. Um, but the unfortunate thing. Somebody's going to be like, can't believe you said that.

Well, you did say that you said it. They could react to that today. I mean, that was. That's actually actually bothered me a lot. They still lost. But like, Bryce meeting the moment is nothing new for Bryce. I know that he's gotten a bad rap about the playoff stuff, but he's a clutch player. And he always has been like Bryce Harper is a clutch player. That's great. And I'm glad that that's the lasting impression that we have for the baseball classic. But there we go. Here we go. But Joe, talk to him. No, talk to him. Guys, if it was the reverse, and he'd been hitting 500 in the, in the whole tournament, and it did, you know, 1100 OPS. And then all of a sudden, he has an over three and strikes out in a big moment. Are we going to sit here and be like, well, he stinks. No, like, so if I can't do it for the reverse, then I'm not going to do it for, for this way. Like he had a bad world baseball classic. He still really can't catch up to fastballs. He had a huge woman. He had a good, good game. The, um, when he had a double earlier in the game and the whole run, that's great. Like, I'm happy to see it. But I can't sit here and say like, oh, man, like, whoo. So really,

I want to see it happen over, over a long period of time. Very happy you met the moment, but that's Bryce doing what Bryce does. Um, I can't just be like, well, one, you know, one game all of a sudden, he's back. I don't want to do that today. Well, I get it. And look, back is, is relative, right? Back of four years ago, five years ago, when he won an MVP, no, I mean, I don't think anyone's going to say that off of a home run last night, it gets Machado in the eighth inning and a game down in Miami. Like that, that, that's not my perspective. But I feel better heading into the sea. I, maybe I'm just projecting the nerves I have about the team and the player. Like, I needed something. I needed something. If we had gone into the season, and he looked like, let's just say struck out in that spot last time. Let's, let's reverse the outcome. What do I have? I have nothing of note that I feel anything good about about Bryce since, I don't know, the middle of last season. It's a, I would have went in and I still probably, I think we all will to an extent, but I would have went in to open it in the next week with like, laser locked into what he's doing every at that. Now, I'm taking a deep breath. That was a huge

moment. And we'll see where his timing is when the season starts, but the power is still there. The power is still there. It's about timing. It's about going to catch up to the fastball. I feel better. 215, 592, 90, 494. Where do you come down on last night? Well, baseball classic, USA loses and did last night make you feel better about Bryce Harper? It did for me. Kyle, not there. And Hugh Douglas thinks Bryce is just a loser. So we'll get to all your foot. If that's the narrative, well, I mean, hold on. Is that a narrative? Or did you kind of say that? Well, I did say I was hating today. Yeah. I said I chose violence. Yeah. But no, I didn't say that. It was just ironic. I was thinking about the irony of, you know, Bryce having those moments and outcome being basically about the same. It's not enough to get it done. You know, you know, it's not all on him. It's not on him at all. It's not, but it's the irony of the moment, that moment, finding him. You know what I mean? Any better? Yeah. And they still lost. And you chose violence and chose to call Bryce. You know, you're going to, we're still ringless. I'm on your side today and you're going to make me have to argue with you. I mean,

I'm just, I just feel like being, you know, a malcontent. Okay. Well, let's just feel like being a malcontent. Feel like being an AJ Brown on us today. I feel like, yeah, I just feel like, you know, I'm going to rectus speculate that you're a AJ, AJ Douglas. I'm going to be passive-aggressive because that seemed like that's the theme of the day. Where? Why? Camouflage is everywhere if you know how to look. And listen, even my voice could be a disguise, a way of hiding the truth. Camouflage designed to deceive. But a new exhibit at the International Spy Museum lets you explore a world of disguise and deception that will change how you see it. You brought that theme to the show. I just feel like I'd be a passive-aggressive. Pull it for what it is. You're in some kind of event today. I'm in this guy. It's unbelievable because I'm normally aggressive-aggressive. I'm going to do something different. That would be passive-aggressive. Just poke and Bryce. Just poke and get some home run in a huge spot. That was great. Bryce, good job. But you still lost, loser. That unbelievable from AJ Douglas. Chris in Middletown is off. What's up, Chris? Happy elite day, man. Happy elite day, Chris. What's up? It's a day now. Yeah, it is. It's today's elite day. You didn't see the T-shirt, you? I didn't. Did we get one? Did we get a mate? They're there. Bryce is wearing his. He's elite. Guys, listen.

I've got to talk to you about this. Because you understand this. I've heard a lot of chatter. A lot of hate being thrown at our boy, Bryce. I know you're not being that guy. You're not going to be passive-aggressive. That's not who you is. I feel like I'm going to be aggressive-aggressive. Yeah, passive-aggressive. I'm not going to be aggressive-aggressive. What's aggressive-aggressive? I know it's going to be aggressive, but it might be more- You poke the people- There we go, yeah, here we go. Yeah, recklessly, speculated right to their face. But remember, I'll do respect. Guys, listen. You got to understand something. This is where you and I can agree on this. Look, as older kind of gentleman, it takes a little bit more for the body to get going along. And you know, to get that train, you know, on the tracks and moving along. And that's what we're seeing here. It took him a little bit slower to get going. And this guy, you know, when the lights are the brightest and the pressure is at a crushing level,

just steps into play and gains through for the nation yesterday. And Team USA, watching them, it mustered just three hits the entire game, which was pathetic. And by the way, I felt like I was watching our Phillies. I was like, why is it that Team USA is like watching the Phillies? Yeah, that did have a big, big game Phillies feel where the offense just dies for an hour. He really did. Yeah, and then like, but out of those three hits, he had two of them. And he had the biggest hit in the biggest moment of the game on the stage. And it's not his fault that like, you know, Whitlock went out there and just threw it right back away. But like, that's who this guy is. Now, I think the biggest concern with him isn't his aging and how he's going to be. It's just his health combined with the age. You know, when the back goes out or the risk goes out, because we know that's going to happen. You know, that's what I worry about with him. But like, you know, the more candles we keep putting on the cake,

the tougher it's going to be in more of an uphill battle he's going to have. But you know what gave them brosky and all of those clowns that, you know, ran their mouth, you know, uh, spike asking, uh, all these guys. Man, today you got to eat some humble pie. And that includes you, Kyle. What are you here? You could, you could sit back. Who's what's one baseball game? Telepress. What are we doing? I'm here. I'm all on just like you. Apologize for what? Just like you need to apologize to that reporter. You need to apologize. You're sorry for those shade on the man. You missed him. It's right right now, because we'll, we'll kill him next week when he, you know, he starts or two weeks when he starts off. Yeah, I got to apologize to him. You have a lot of people to apologize to you for being honest. Yeah. You told me, you told her to get back in the kitchen. I mean, you know, you tell him out the war. Yeah. One of the four who's been on, who's been, who's been locked into the AJ stuff the whole time. She's, she's been on it all time. You need to apologize for that. That paid to the, you know, generational nonsense.

Well, that was a joke. Yeah, that was a joke. That's not a belief. I know. We established yesterday, Eric Lindross was a generational player. And AJ Brown, come on. Let's be right there with a nine. Not in his, not right there with. Stop. Guys, look, give you, you, and just let Harper have his day to let him shine. He's a lead today. Let him pop out his chest and wear it. And speaking of a lead today, you're going to see elite fritz. Mod the floor with that fat excuse of human body, Joe, the camera. Have a good day, man. Got it, Chris. Appreciate it. Yes, Joe, verse Jack tonight at six. Yeah, Joe was ready, too, man. Joe is locked in. Yeah, he locked in. He ready to go. The mentality of the two of them in the last 24 hours is, I got to tell you, it's nine day. It's night and day. I mean, Joe feels locked in. Jack feels like he can't wait for it to end. I mean, that's, that's the way it felt my way in the press conference history. He feels that way this morning. Not good. Not good. It's not, it's not good. I'm sticking my pick of Jack 11, Joe 9, Jack by one minus one and a half on the betting line. But I don't feel great. A little bit of Eagles cheats vibes.

It feels, it feels a lot of team favored. No, well, I'm thinking that way was. Joe was going in thinking, I'm going to win this thing. Jack is thinking, I should win. Let's get this done with. He's very, very confident. But it feels like, I don't know, man, I'm feeling a little nervous from Jack. It feels like the only time Jack is happy is when he's taking a bluetooth or something. Because it's just like, he just, it's just one of those things. Like when he's on a bluetooth, you know what he does? Commercials, he seems like he's all happy about it. Oh, the commercial for the picture. Yeah, but it's like when you see him in person, it seems like he's a little nervous. I don't understand. I do feel, I think we all feel the nervous, Jack has. We thought that the press conference. I don't think he should be nervous, though. Wow. The camera's a petite man. This, this game is too, too. They've gone to game five for a reason. But he's a petite man. And Jack's, Jack is towering over. Jack is like, let's just say about Jack. I know that he's the same spot. He's the same, but that's what I'm saying. He lost in tennis and lost in golf. But this is, or one of those. But if Jack, Jack, if you're listening, backing down in the paint, man, it just throw layups. He's not, he got little arms, man. But is that Jack's game? It doesn't have to be just backing down. No, but I don't know if Jack's a back-of-down guy.

He has to. Well, this is your favorite thing. You have to, but that's not who you are. What would you say? That's my favorite. It is. Why is this going to happen? Well, they have to. He decides to, I know. I agree with you. I'm just not sure it's going to happen. Let's go to Barry and Delaware. What's up, Barry? I don't know how are you. Good, Barry. What's up? Hey, boss, look, I always agree with you. Well, I'm so disagree with you today, boss. So does he. The notion that because of Bryce Hopper, just he's a home run yesterday. All of the starting is back. Or maybe let me coach you right. You feel better ever. I do feel better. I do feel better. Where is this dude at the last playoff? Yeah, he's dunked that series. He wasn't good enough, Barry. Right. He was not good enough. So I am in the position of waiting to see. I'm not going to give this dude any more chance or any more of my joy. Why? It's because of how many times, how many times they go to the playoffs. They're dead.

I mean, nobody is hitting the ball on the offense side. And that's why last time when I called, I said, their opportunity has been closed in terms of we need to keep it because Bryce Hopper is not the Bryce Hopper maybe four years ago. It's like it's just not. And the notion that if we're going to surround the entire team on him, it's like to me, it's beyond anything. So I don't see it. I'm going to wait and see. Now don't get me wrong. It looked like they put a lot of changes now this year. So let's wait and see where they come in. Maybe they will prove it wrong, but I'm just waiting to see. I'm not going to give them any prep. Don't give them any joy. Don't give them any joy. So that's the thing. I just want to comment. And I want to thank you guys for taking my call. Oh, Barry, always. You're one of our favorite calls. Barry, we appreciate it.

Good call. And I get it. I get it if you're going to be there. And you could be there. You could say it's one game. You could say the playoffs last year. I think Barry's kind of the same wavelength as Kyle. At least Barry wasn't hating on Bryswerp. Like you did to start this show today. I mean, you know, I mean, you kind of hated only two. I mean, you're coping. You're doing coping more than anything. That's fine. That's not hating. That's not hating. It's just a little hating. No, I'm trying to see the, you know what I do? I'm in the opposite. I saw a moment that I could take and feel good about. I'm saying, but you saw good and spun it to bad. But let's, let's go. Unbelievable. Let's go. This is the tape. Shall we see what you say? Hey, well, you know, he's been having trouble sitting hidden fast balls. That's true. Even though he had a guy who ain't through a fastball since 1922. Well, you kind of said, Machado has been the big, hasn't been in big leagues since 2023. But yeah, 1922, 1922. They're not, they're not. Back when you were born. Yeah, I heard, yeah. Back when he was wearing leather helmets on the football field. He was born less than 50 years after 1922. So, so, so, when you say like that, Joe, basically you're saying, you're basically saying he still hasn't caught up to a big league fast.

Yes, yes. I, but you're, you're going to take that window. Yes, that's cool. I've had, no, I've had an off season of Ls with Harper. And now I'm taking a W. Yeah, just, I needed it. Okay. It starts with Machado. It started with Machado. So yeah, two, one, five, five, nine, two, now we're going to take that building block. That's right. We're going to stay. No, you're seeing it. Last night when we're stacking wins. Last night was a win for Bryce Harper. All right, did last night make you feel better right, Bryce? I feel relieved today. After watching that last night, he had a moment. He met the moment and away Team USA went until Garrett were locked, blew it in the ninth inning. But it was a great moment nonetheless. Your calls on that coming up a lot to get to today. Also, what Ken Rosethal wrote about Harper's presence in the Team USA clubhouse, apparently a little pregame speech. By Bryce Harper, they got everyone fired up, even though nobody hit except him. All right, we'll hit that next.
