Giants Miss Out on Vera-Tucker, Eye Teller

Sources say there was real excitement inside the Giants building on Monday about sealing a deal with the 26-year-old former jet. But talks broke down over the link of the contract, and he signed with the New England Patriots instead. New England got him on a three-year deal worth just over $42 million right around market value. That move bolsters their line with a player who's shown plenty of promise as a first-round pick. Vera Tucker brings high upside, but he's also got injury concerns. In four pro seasons, he's missed a total of 41 games and never played a full year. For the Giants, it would have been a gamble on the offensive front. The Giants already brought back right tackle-dramain L.A. Mooner on day one of free agency. Now they're shifting focus to other options to keep building that unit. Insiders expect them to target three-time pro-bowl guard, Wyatt Teller next.
