Sorry, Marcus. But after we gripped as a region, and I mean, we basically were done. We basically were folding up the franchise. Stop. Oh, dude. Who were freaking the blank out? I mean, honestly, I've been freebing to play on Sun Sunday, what are we gonna do with the giants, man? They're done, they're over. They got a win for all of you who gave up on them, for all y'all who never believed. Here's the home of the true believers, right here. The Murphy Marcus show. 2:03and apparently did his post game barefoot because he had come out of the shower after rinsing off. So congratulations, Tony V. Here's to the first of 84. I don't know. I don't know, but fun game, not without drama, Ryan Walker in the ninth inning, but Landon Roup was spectacular. Harrison Bader left the yard. We were waiting for a listener said that at the round table, I predicted Harrison Bader as the first home. I didn't remember that. He said, I came up, you were right from the round table. I'm like, bro, thank you for listening. Someone guy hit me on Twitter. Do you remember me saying that the round table? No, not at all. We were all asked to hits the first home, when I said, Bader, I'll take it. I'll take credit for it. Yeah, why not? And Patrick Billy went the other way. It's all you got to do is go the other way. In case you Schmidt found a hole and then the rest held on with this new bullpen, by the way. Not Ryan Walker, but Matt Gage and Keaton Wind were outstanding last night. So Marcus, I'm holding it in my hands. Giants three. Padres two box score don't lie, buddy. There it is. A frame the box score from Tony Vitelos first big league win.

3:05Let it be known. This date in Giants history, March 30th, 2026. Tony V becomes Tony W. What this first win in the big leagues. Like that. Tony W. New nickname. All right, here we go. Tony W. What'd you think, man? What'd you think of the game? Oh, I was just glad that the Giants won a damn game. And I'm with you. Everybody was overreacting to a three game series against the New York Yankees. There was major grip and go. There was a lot of people freaking out. And look, we sat down and tried to put it in context even before the series even started that this was going to be a tough schedule and a tough start for Tony Vitelos and the Giants. Even beyond the Yankees, the Padres, the Meds, the Phillies, like we've been talking about these first four series for months now since the schedule was released. And what did we say if they lose the first couple of games, all eyes are going to be on Tony V in the Giants because he's one of the biggest storylines in sports this year. So it was glad to finally see them get the monkey off their back. And I'm saying it like it's been months and months of seeing Tony lose games.

4:07No, it was one weekend against a very good Yankees team. But even yesterday as we were discussing that first series, a lot of people said we are making excuses for them. We were saying this. We were saying that some people thought we were too hard to me. That just means that baseball season is back strapping. It's 162 games of bitching and complaining and riding the highs and lows of a baseball season. And last night, we got to see that first high for Tony V in the Giants. Don't you love the daily bitching complain? That's what we love about overnight day. It was just saying how in the NFL as much as we love the NFL rules of the world, we play a game. Then we got to hear about the Cowboys for six days. What's going on in the big D? We'll talk about it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Oh, and then the game on Sunday. And now finally, we get back to our daily rhythm, our daily routine, including another game tonight at 640 with Logan Webb team USA hero on the mound. Hopefully avoiding that second inning weirdness. But yeah, all of a sudden Tony V's like, wait, I got, I won a game and I got Logan Webb going, I might have a win. I might have a, you can't call to a streak.

5:08I might have a little mini win run here. I might win two in a row. They have a Wednesday getaway day with Adrian Hauser making his debut and all of a sudden, you know, the team loosens up a little bit. I will say this, I'll take more than three, all right. You don't have to stop at three guys. You don't have to stop it. And it's like the judge are like, all right, we gave you three. This gets back to the 2010 days when they used to just kind of just give you just enough to win. And then going Milton Burle on us again, just enough to win and then sweating out the torture. And last night was torture. We should probably go to the ninth inning where Ryan Walker did not look fully in command of his stuff. And in fact, he got a big break. I mean, Tony V's first win came with a break when Fernando Tatees chose not to challenge what would have been ball three. I mean, especially since he started the inning off with a free nine, lead off walk. And I said, oh, no, here we go again. Here we go again. Stop right there. Man, hey, closer. You have one, one rule in life, you have one job in life and that's not to walk a lead

6:10off hitter. Give up a solo tank rather than walk a guy, dude. Oh my God. On four pitches. Four stray balls. Non-competitive. No, not even close. Non-competitive, which makes it even more shocking that Tatees wasn't ready to go with the challenge. Right. That very next step. So that was a disaster. Lead off walk on four pitches and already were gripping and we wound up gripping because Jackson Merrill then takes him deep and he also hit, he nearly hit a guy, forget which one it was. He nearly hit a guy. I wasn't touching. He's in Machado right in between. Maybe. Well, he knows he'll hit a guy. Ryan Walker is not afraid to hit a guy because sometimes he's sometimes that slider comes out of his hand. He doesn't really control it. And so man, oh man, and then he gives up the tank and listen, they're not going to strip him from the closer drill in one game despite everybody. If a Twitter poll, Twitter is not life says Tony V. But if you took a Twitter poll right now, it would be 100 to zero to strip Ryan Walker of his closer role after one game. And already, by the way, people have anointed Keaton win. All it took was one inning. Keaton wins my closer.

7:11You know, I've been high on Keaton win this year as a potential breakout bullpen arm. But I don't know if you can already say he's the next man up to step up and be the closer. Hopefully down the road, the way that he's thrown so far. But if the pitch forks and torches crowd had their way, wins closing tonight. Yeah. But also like that's the key. It's like you look at Ryan Walker who has been a great seventh and eighth inning guy. But you know, once you try to get those last three outs, they're the hardest three outs in baseball to get. We fricking. I just looked down to the first text. I see seven or seven Walker should never see the ninth inning again. I'm telling you, bro, people are done at the same way everybody was done with the Giants after the Yankee series. They're done with Ryan Walker after one. Tony V defended him and said, you know what? In the end, he has one job when the game closed the game and in the end, he did it. Yeah. And Tony V said after the game, those guys have like a microchip of how to get to the finish line. Which I mean, Brian Wilson, he would what do we call it torture, right? We call it torture. He would load him up. He'll load him up in a heartbeat and then work out of it.

8:12But yes, we talked to Ryan Walker in Scottsdale and he was very, he was one of our more sincere interviews. Remember how like he was very earnest, spoke softly. He talked to us about like real things like struggles and mental struggles in his faith. He falls back on his faith in the Lord and all this stuff and man, I was like, we were talking to him. I was like, man, this is a guy's going through it. I was like, this guy's gone through it and he really, really, really wants to somehow find some sort of peace on the mound and in his life. He really, I was like, I have great empathy for Ryan Walker, man. I really hope this guy comes through and then he goes out there last night and looks, I don't want to say he was all over the road, but he wasn't airtight. He was not airtight. No, he's not what you want in your first safe situation, which is something I pointed out yesterday as I made the entire bullpened homebabies after their series against the Yankees. We all haven't seen these guys pitch with the lead yet. We haven't seen him pitch in those high leverage situations and that really is what kind of separates Ryan Walker from the rest of the bullpen because outside of Ryan Walker,

9:12they don't have any other guys that even have closing experience. So we can all sit here and think of other ideas of guys who could step in in a ninth inning situation. But we haven't seen them with that pressure in the ninth inning. Keaton win one in the last night. He's never pitched in a ninth inning before classes again. I like Keaton win with that splitter. I mean, that's the kind of guy that is an absolute weapon against lefties and right out of the bullpen. I'm looking forward to seeing more and more of him. But let's pump the break and give Ryan Walker a few more opportunities before we strip that close. Yeah, exactly. Just like we pump the brakes on giving up on the Giants after getting swept by the Yankees too. So young Tony, do let me know thumbs up, thumbs down. We do. Okay. This kids got it. He's got it done. I mean, he's only thrown 100 innings. Now listen, he, in 2025, he threw 100 plus innings and had an ERA in the threes. That's pretty good. Yeah. But it's not a, it's not a huge amount of data. He didn't have a full major league season under his belt. Bro, he was outstanding last night. And he has four pitches that he uses. Man, he's unpredictable. He can throw all of them for outs and strikes. I didn't remember his change up.

12:22I don't know if I kind of slept on land and roof. He's got a sinker. He's got a change. He's got a curve. He's got a cutter. But I was just like, kept thinking, man, he's got this change up. I kind of liked it. Well, that's the thing. We really didn't see that diversity in his repertoire the last couple of seasons. Like, he's a guy that literally leads major league baseball in the percentage of which he throws his curveball. Like, he's got that filthy uncle Charlie that he's always dropping out of the bottom of the zone. But you're right. Yesterday was probably the best mix of his election that we've seen. Maybe so far in his big league career, getting that change up involved. He added a cutter this off season that we talked about during spring training as well. So that's a four-pitch collection. And he was working all four planes of the strike. Yeah. Podgers were not having super comfortable with bats. They did not, they did not square up a ton of balls last night. Um. , I don't know. You kind of caught me flat outfit it my initial intake is just to go with the organic. Like what happened. Like, you know, it happened then. So go with it. It's playing our opening song underneath it. They had come back to town for the Sultanes. Oh. I think when the Giants come to town, didn't it? Wasn't that it? That we were welcoming them back? Was it because Bryce O'Jidge went deep? Maybe. Against the Sultanes. And we opened the show, isn't it? We did, because the music's still playing in the background. I want to say it was because they came home for the Sultanes. The Giants come to town. It's five or maybe. It's so cheesy, we might have to go with it. Yeah, we might have to use it. 22:35Anyway, I knew I had a buddy once who had no, he, my buddy, he was a good looking guy, but he wasn't an outgoing guy. And attractive girls were attracted to him. And but he was kind of a dull guy. And I was talking to this attractive gal that was with him. And I said, you know, I love my guy. I said, but we all agree. He's not an electric personality. I'm like, okay, Havarchuck. I wasn't a hockey guy, but Dale Havarchuck. That's a good hockey name. And then the one that even overnight Dave says he has no idea of this guy. And overnight, Dave is a hockey head, is a puck head. Jimmy Carson, not Johnny Carson. Oh, Jimmy Carson. I don't know. I got no book on Jimmy Carson, but he was the last guy to do it. In 1968, so he did it with the, he did it with the LA Kings in 1986. How did I miss that? I was in LA when he was a king. It shows you how on it I was, dude, I was in college when he was doing this. And I slept on the entire thing. So my bad raising my hand right there. But I'm not sleeping on Maclin, Celebrity. No, continues to just carve out this incredible career at the age of 19 as a kid. Literally a teenager that is changing the landscape of hockey down in the South Bay.

31:48I mean, we've seen it year in and year out over the last two years. How much excitement there's been since Maclin has joined this squad. And then he went out and performed away. He did in the Olympics. He comes back. There's more media than ever season ticket sales are going through the roof. And yeah, the sharks have had a little bit of a slump the last couple of weeks where they've slowed down. But they're still in the playoff picture only a couple of points back in the wild card. But to just acknowledge what Maclin, Celebrity is doing down in the South Bay. Like, I hate to even put these type of expectations on him. But he is the Steph Curry. He is the Buster Posey. He is the Joe Montana Jerry Rice of the Chicago of the San Jose Sharks. I mean, I know he's got to win some championships and get there. But he's that type of talent to be on that list as a teenager with those icons and hockey. Murf, there's only been two other sharks in San Jose Sharks history who have scored a hundred points in a season. Jumbo Joe and Eric Carlson. He's putting himself in that category in San Jose Sharks history already. He didn't plan this segment because I was going to make it a trivia question for everybody.

32:50So was I. I know. Yeah. He just kicked down the door of our trivia because I don't think anybody, including me, would have said Eric Carlson. Oh, I would hate to Jumbo Joe. I would have thought Jonathan Cheach. You would have been on the list. He would have been high mid 90s. Patty Marlow anybody. Joe Pavellsk anybody. Yeah. I mean, there were way more people I would have gone to before Eric Carlson. Oh, Eric Carlson is a stud. Yeah, but he did it in 2223 when the sharks were awful. Yeah. And nobody was paying attention on that. Back when I was cashed in on Carlson and our sharks boy every day. You go. Yeah. I'll hunt literally. Thornton actually won the heart trophy of the year. He scored 125 points combined between the sharks and the Bruins. So it Maclin's in that hunt. He's a candidate. I don't know if he'll get it just this year. You know, it's crazy how he didn't win the work of the year last year. Finish third. That's why. And that bonkers. I mean, it's one of those things, man. So way to go, Maclin. Congratulations to you. You've been a joy to watch all winter winter slash spring long and they're not out of it. They could still get to the playoffs. Again, there's a little bit of traffic there, but all they got to do is win. They played Nashville two more times before the end of the year.

33:51They got 10 games left. Nashville's in that second wildcard. You call that controlling your own destiny. George Kiddell's favorite hockey team, not you know. See, Kiddell turned up and said Toronto Blue Jays gear last night. Yeah. Apparently his brother-in-law plays for the Blue Jays. I mean, his sister married a Blue Jays. I guess so. And then apparently the guy got hurt last night and some people were saying the substations hit in the Blue Jays. Oh, come on. Stop it. I thought we busted that myth with John Lynch over this week. Well, as soon as John Lynch gives us a report and be the name of the scientist, we'll get a little farther. Now, that was a, that's straight out. Well, you know who's playbook, that's straight out of, you know, there's a report. You don't need to worry about it. Who's the scientist? You don't need to know. The media said. Exactly. If you try hard, you die hard. Tony V. I think it is the Kanye West. We were not expecting that. And hence the Kanye rejoined here. By the way, let's not get too, let's not get too carried away. Generally, it's six hits last night. That said, the podgers only had three. So who knows what San Diego sports stock radio is saying. We lost to the Giants. They saw. Giants maxed out at three runs after the beta homeray. And oh, by the way, Raphael Devers, feel free to join the party. We want 35 out of you, buddy. You can't get to 35 without one. Willie Adama's feel free to join the party. Matt Chapman feel free to join the party. These are all guys that we all expect to hit north of 25 home runs this year. Some north of 30. It's only four games.

36:57But right now, Harrison Bader has your loan. Giants take its baby steps early on in the season. Before the Yankee series, you said you wanted one. You got one run. And now you've got one one home run. I'm sure the bats will come around later on this season. But let's just celebrate the fact that Tony V morphed into Tony W and got his first W. Well, one is the loneliest number. Harrison Bader hit. He's a guy who's hit 20 in a season before. And we talked about guys who could hit 20 at the round table. The round same round table where we buried the Giants pitching too. By the way, I'm really worried about the pitching. Of course, it's only been four games. But for good games for the arms for not good games for the bats. Podries got a home on last night from Jackson, Merrill. Podries are one and three, by the way. And they've all played. They played all four games at home. And they haven't played the Yankees. Yeah. They did play the Tigers, but. Well, shout out to Tony Vitolo's second place in the NL West. San Francisco Giants. Everybody else in the West is now one in three. And the Giants logistically have the tiebreaker over the podries. If you are checking the standings this early on and Murf,

37:59I know you're always checking the standings. Oh, he's hawking the standings, particularly when we get to flag day two. We'll be hawking the Giants tonight too. By the way, when they get back at it with Lynn, with pardon me, with Logan Webb on the mound against Hermann Marquez, who's now a podre. The former Rocky. After all those years, 68 and 72 career record for Hermann Marquez, who is he's 31 years old. I feel like he'd be older than that. But yeah, you can go get Hermann Marquez. Can't you go tack him up today? I mean, this is a matchup that the Giants should win with Logan Webb on the mound, but it's baseball. That's why they play the game. And in Logan Webb, slicing and dice and cutting and sinking, doing his thing. But it is Tony V. Day. Congratulations to him getting his first win. You could see a little bit of release. I'd like him, by the way, in general, to kind of loosen up. At one point during the post game, he did finally laugh a little bit. And I was like, okay, I think that's the first time I've seen Smile since the season started. I mean, I get it. You got swept at home by the Yankees. You're not going to go around looking like frickin, you know, the grinning clown or whatever.

39:00But man, it's been tight, you know, and he said something that made him, he's got the brotherway. He's got the blinding white teeth. The blinding white teeth of a Tony V. That's a good set of teeth. By the way, that's the, I was watching those teeth last night. And yeah, that's why you're tuned into KMBR. That's why you tuned in. It truly is a sign of a certain level of celebrity when you whiten your teeth. Because there'll be people I meet and I'll be like, yo, look at that guy's teeth. And I'm like, oh, that guy, I see that guy fancies himself. He's in the public eye. He's got a white in the teeth. And a Tony V clearly has gotten to that status of celebrities. Like, I got to whiten them. Because I mean, Tony, you whiten your Tony V or Tony F. You whitening your teeth there, buddy? I don't whiten my teeth. No, I just brush you twice. I mean, I have like a whitening toothpaste that I try to use. But nowhere near as bright and shiny as Tony V. I think after 21 years of coffee all morning, I got a good dingy yellow. I don't know how in mind right now that'll happen. Nice, a nice sort of a musty yellow. But Tony V, anyway, he smiled in those blinding white purlies were shown. And I was like, dude, yes, more of that Tony. Because we heard he was a fun dude.

40:00We heard he was an energetic dude. We certainly know that he can talk his way through an answer. God, he will wind his way through an answer. And at a certain point when you're taking, if you're a reporter taking notes, I think the pen just stops writing. You're like, all right. Can I kind of wait for him to come to the end of this one again? We're going to have him Thursday. Yes, we are. So everybody tune in Thursday at 7 30 and count the word salads. You know, and hey, listen, if you win, the word salad is good. You can't spell word salad without W. No, exactly. I mean, this even goes back to last week after his first couple of losses at the big of the level. He was even going back earlier and saying, look, I gave a raw raw speech. Maybe I hyped him up a little bit too much. Maybe there was too much emotion. Maybe there was too much try hard. So maybe this is him dialing it back a little bit. But we all know that he wanted to get the monkey off his back. All these players wanted to go out and get a win for Tony Vitello so that they don't got to hear from us media clown saying, oh, he's a college coach. You can't win at the magically level. He's 0 and 3. Like this is a big moment.

41:00Even though it is just one game of 162 game season. But yes, it was nice to see Tony Vitello shot last night. What the little bit of Italian grease in his hair as he called it. After getting the beer and champagne shower from all the boys, showing up shoelace last night to the post game presser. Like it seemed like that was more of his vibe. And really that's kind of one of those bonding moments that we traditionally see with like a rookie pitcher getting his first win or a guy going deep for the first time. But we've all been out drinking for the first time with our co-workers and new buddies that we met in college for the first time. It's a bonding experience. So maybe this does bring the team closer together and brings out some of those Tony Vitello vibes. Totally. Well, Harrison Bader doing the post game with Laura Britt, Sean Estes and Richa Rillia on NBC Sports Bay Area. And at the end, she was like, hey, you got to go back to your manager and she goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're going to have some fun with Tony and he kind of had a little smile and took off the headset and did his thing. And apparently so they got him in the cart. He rifted on the last time he was in a cart with his mom at a K-Mart.

42:01K-Mart. K-Mart, I like it. Shout out to the kid in a grocery cart grocery store shopping cart. Oh, I used the love riding around in a grocery cart as a kid. What an absolute thrill. You felt like you were the king of the world. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Better than the little 25 cent horse out in front of red cart. You know how that's true. Uh, so yeah, that he had that reference to K-Mart. Then we had apparently Matt Chapman spoke. Apparently Matt, um, William Thomas gave him an expensive bottle of champagne. Yeah, look like an ace of spades bottle of champagne. Oh, did you see it? Yeah. So the giants posted a little clip on their Twitter account of him shaking hands after the win. And then there was a click, a quick little sliver of like an inside shot inside the clubhouse. And William Thomas was handing over a bottle. And I saw an ace on it. What do you know about ace of spades? I know. I got no knowledge. I know it's in a very, very expensive bottle of champagne. That's about all I know. Never tasted it. Never totally opened it up. Had a little sip when he, uh, in the back in the hotel. It's a celebration. Apparently, Gerar and Karnasian spoke. A man who has yet to see the field for the 2026.

43:01He's got more post game speeches and played appearances. Even then even outs recorded in the field. My God. That's really funny. So Tony, uh, after the games, uh, talking about, uh, getting the, uh, the shower cut L Tony, the opening statement to the media. And by the way, he's wearing that different. Is that their pregame hat that gray one he's wearing with the SF on it? That like trucker hat. What is that? That gas station hat. It just can be a giant. I don't know. Yeah. It can be a giant. But he was just looking for any hat after. Well, he also was wearing that in the dugout. Yeah, they maybe it's their pregame hat. They do have like batting practice hats. Warm up hat. Is that the batting practice hat there? So anything to sell. Anything to get Greg Johnson that money. And yes, by the way, Greg Johnson did address the current theater in his Q&A with Andy Bagley. We'll have to get to that in a second. But here's a congrats to Tony V's opening statement. Yeah. There was adult beverages, but there was other stuff mixed into. So at some point, I'll be plotting my revenge. But for now, uh, enjoying the fact that, you know, Rupert, you kind of mentioned a pitcher, um, getting it done gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

44:04That was, that was a special effort he had out there. And obviously the guys behind him did exactly what they needed to do. Yeah, he was awesome. Landon Rupert was fantastic. 45:05Beta left the yard. Bailey had NAPO, RBI. Casey Schmidt found a hole. But it was still a special moment in the club. It's hard to comprehend because, um, I got the same disease as every other coach. You're kind of, um, you want the proper guys to get their props. They got it done tonight, which really it was a lot of guys. Especially if you include defense. Um, but also look ahead to the next game is an opportunity to win a series down here, um, and continue things in the right direction. So the price so can get back to the hotel. But yeah, pretty special, uh, looking around the room, whether it's in the office and the dugout or in the locker room. And some of these guys have been slower to come out of their shell, uh, with me. But it's little moments like that or breaking camp or opening day, uh, where I think, you know, the bond grows a little bit, which, you know, at the end of the day, we want to be a strong unit right now. But I told somebody I forget if it was with the whole group or not. I really get a sense like no matter what happens, this group is going to get

46:05a lot closer together as a year goes on. I was an interesting cut there because, you know, the whole Seljuet, if you listen to all the, from October 22nd, the day got hired to now, the undercurrent of everything was last year's team sort of fell apart. They didn't hang together. Nobody came out and said it as bluntly as I just said it, but they hinted at it all year long. Well, you know, I think I, from what I've heard, Tony kept saying, from what I've heard, you know, maybe some guys weren't always as pulling on the same road, whatever, like that stretch in July and August when they lost everything, right? When Bob Melvin lost his job. Yeah, they had to homestay where they lost 14 or 15 years. Yeah, probably. I mean, it still remains unbelievable. And then they traded for devors and went 10 games under, right? Yeah, they went like 20 and 41 over the summer. It's insane, insane, but Tony's message is supposed to be, he's such a people guy that they're supposed to kind of be more together as a unit. So what he just said right there was saying that, like I, I think little things like this will keep us, will bring us closer together. He had an instant comedy. He said, some of the guys have been a little slower to come out of their shell for me.

47:07Pretty honest statement there, you know, like, because there are, listen, you get 26 guys, all alpha male competitors who are like, you know, they didn't get to the big leagues by being soft wall flowers. They got to the big leagues because they were ass kicking competitors. And so they don't necessarily want to just say, hey, Tony V, yeah, you're our guy. Heck, we heard from Michael Coss last week, right? He was like, plink this guy. So there's probably, you get 26 guys, you can get 26 different opinions. It's like 26 different texts about our home run call, right? So there's going to be some guys in the club. So we're like, who is this guy? You know, I don't want to embrace this guy. So he acknowledged it a little bit. Some of the guys have been a little slower to come out of their shell, but things like last night, bring them together a little bit. Yeah, breaking news, winning ball games can make you buy into the big culture and the big plan moving forward. It makes it a whole lot easier. But this was one of the biggest question marks for Tony Vitello, making this transition from the college game to the big leagues. Could he get big league players to buy what he's selling? When these guys are making millions and millions of dollars, and I know they're making NIO money down in college,

48:08but this is completely different. This is the cream of the crop. These are big time athletes. And sometimes these guys do have big time egos. So yes, Tony Vitello's got to has to find a way to connect with these guys. And that's why he does have the added benefits of having guys like J Stingler and Ron Washington in his clubhouse, because these guys have been able to connect before. And so he's got those kind of tools and those resources, but still at the end of the day, this is a business. It's a business of winning ball games. And if you want to get the respect of not only your players of the entire organization and the entire fan base, you got to win games. And last one was number one on hopefully a long path of future victories for Tony Vitello. Who was it, the guy who was the famous American who said, just win, baby. Smart man, smart man. See that's the thing. You have a great, you have a great organization, great players, great coaches. You put them together. You tell them one thing, Mark. The greatness of Tony Vitello. Just win, baby. The greatness of Tony Vitello is in his future. All right. Tony, you want to set this one up for me, young Tony here?

49:10Yeah, so Morgan's putting it out. I had cut off the Kanye riff at the end of that quote, because it didn't land. The media did not like pick up on the riff, because there was just dead silence right after. And then Tony V kind of jumps in. And a little bit of a laugh there at the end is showing how excited he is. You know, if you ask Kanye, I think he's out with a new album. If you try hard, you die hard. So, strange fella, but he don't miss much on the music. Not that you asked. Yeah, but he's like, come on, guys, give me something here. You know what I mean? It's the best part. Not that you asked. Well, because he was like, I got no love for my joke about Kanye. Not that you asked. Not that he misses much. Tony sometimes will miss within an analogy. And the double, the double laugh there. Yeah, he was looking for the Christopher Sanchez, Dominican Republic pros game presser, when he made a riff about it. He couldn't understand the guy's question in a foreign language. Tony V wanted to, hey, yeah, Kanye says, you try hard, you die hard. That one really hits me. Yeah, not quite that reaction. All right. One more now back to the baseball and Ryan Walker.

50:11Because let's be honest, man, everybody has gone into this season in the confidence level. The confidence meter on Ryan Walker was, should we say, at best, mediocre at best? Or could you just say it was low? Giants fan, if you had to characterize Giants fans, confidence meter, going into the season on Ryan Walker, I think if we're being honest, it's low to mediocre. Yeah, without question, this was a guy who we saw last year get that opportunity to take over as he closed her once, come out of all Tyler Rogers and all those guys were shipped out. And we saw 17 opportunities for Ryan Walker last year. And he blew seven of them. And so you already have that thought in the back of your mind that, oh, no, the worst is going to happen. And last night wasn't the worst case scenario. There were some bad moments, the lead off walk, four straight balls. You can't do that as a reliever. And then, of course, given up the two run shot, the Jackson Merrill,

51:12but he still got the job done at the end of the day. But I don't think it made any Giants fans confident after seeing that type of outing last. No. And I mean, this thing, I think as much as the Giants and teams always have to sort of balance fan rage at closures with keeping things common, consistent in the clubhouse. I mean, the million times they'll say, man, that's you guys that yet you're fans. It's a fans job to overreact. We're here to do this thing every single day, which is what Tony Vee, you know, is the big, the big worry about him was he's such a college guy. I can ramp it up for 60. Can I handle 162? That's why people said after the game to loss the opening day lost Friday, that he really went too far and falling on the sword and all that. And he should have just said, let's pound some Budweiser and get him tomorrow, boys. Yeah. I mean, especially when Robbie Ray kind of claps back if that's the right way to even phrase. But after the game, when he was asked about Tony Vatelos comments about the highs and lows, he goes, look, we're all majorly baseball players. We know how to deal with the highs and lows. Yeah, right. Yeah. And so that's where we're at with Tony. And I think that's where they're at with Ryan Walker.

52:13They're like, listen, guys, we're going to give him a chance. I mean, Buster Posey, president of baseball ops, he was in the crouch a few times for some important games. And for whatever reason, he's deputized Tony V to make Ryan Walker his closer. For now, these are changeable things. These are as we found out, the lineup changes all the time. Heck, we haven't even talked about the lineup from last night. No, the fifth time is getting off on a rise in the four hole. And they win, right? But, you know, the Ryan Walker thing is going to be obviously something we watch. And we talked to Ryan Walker and Scottsdale. And he was honest about everything like, yeah, it's a mental struggle. And I've worked with sports psychologists and all this stuff. And when he was on the mound last night, I sent out the tweet. I said, hey, we talked to the sky and Scottsdale. He told us he's worked a lot on his mental strength. Let's see what happened. And then the home and all these people on my tour are like, fail, fail, fail. Well, guess what? They won the game. When you're up three nothing, you can give up a two run bump. I'm not excusing it or saying it's good. I am just saying in the end, Brian Wilson style, he did torture, get the safe.

53:13Yes. And you still got the win. And that's the thing when people are already talking about switching up the roll at closer. They're not going to make that type of move this early on the season. They're going to wait to see if Ryan Walker does blow anymore saves. Or if he does settle in because to your point, we did talk to him a lot about how he has worked on his mental strength and finding faith. And maybe that's something that can ground him and help him settle in in those high pressure situations. Because as young Tony will tell you, as you stress up as a door man, it's a lot of pressure being the closer at the big league level. It's not for everybody. But that's exactly why you and I were fighting over Ryan Walker for our answer at the round table. When we were asked what's the most pressure on him and Murphy and I were at the back of the draft. Like we were waiting for the turnaround. And I was shocked that Ryan Walker passed through a Greg Silver and Adam Copa. Stranger JD JD. I was like, I got to start the easy answer. Very first one's going to be Ryan Walker and he didn't say it. And Greg Silver didn't say it. And Cops didn't say it. Derek Bobbin didn't say it. And then the ball got passed around.

54:13They swung it around the court and it got to the morning show. And we're like, dude, the number one answer is Ryan Walker. There's more pressure on this guy than anybody else because of the seven blown saves last year. Because the Giants and go out and sign an Edwin Diaz or one of these relievers that were available on the market this year. They don't have anybody else really in this bullpen that really has closing experience outside of Ryan Walker. So really, they don't have choices which leads to the pressure that's going to be on him all season long. I don't even know if Camilo D'Aval had a high level of confidence with Giants fans. No, no, no, no. I think more than Ryan Walker, but not a ton. So anyway, here's Vitel's first chance to talk about a Ryan Walker save that involved at Jackson, Meryl Tourenomer. Let the guy, you know, that does his job do his job. And that's mess is who I'm referring to. But also walk the job at the end of the day is to get out there and win the game. And, you know, Frank and I know that as well as anybody, the guy who became our closer. We're up three runs in the national championship game and I get it at its college.

55:15But he gave up two runs but found a way to get it done. And that at the end of the day is the job. And you kind of have to have familiarity with that role for a lot of different reasons. But if you are, there's some microchip in those guys that know they just need to get to the finish line. So I'm all four, all three of those relieving efforts. Keaton was really special, but it's hard to say he was better than Gage. So all in all, great night. And it kind of stinks. The focus shift into, you know, first win for me and all that stuff. So I'm honored with all the attention. But I thought tonight it's fitting that our first win is basically a strong pitching effort. Because those four guys work their ass off. And they really seem to have a strong sense of camaraderie themselves. And I think they've done a really good job for us. And those pitchers will do whatever those guys ask. So if that's a theme that continues throughout this year, we'll be in games. Yeah, he went on to say like there's a microchip just to get to the finish line.
