Gamecocks' Season Ends with Loss, No Postseason

0:00On March 12, South Carolina's men's basketball season wrapped up with an 86-74 loss to Oklahoma in the opening round of the SEC, Tournament. The Gamecocks finish at 13 wins and 19 losses, marking their third losing record in four years under coach Lamont Paris. The team jumped out to a 13-point lead early, fueled by hot three-point shooting where they made seven of their first 10 attempts. But Oklahoma closed the first half on a 19-6 run, and the Gamecocks struggled from there. In the second half, South Carolina's offense cooled off sharply, shooting just three of 14 from beyond the arc while Oklahoma pulled away. Comfortably, coach Paris noted defensive adjustments didn't stick, and their own shots didn't fall when it mattered. Standout efforts came from Kobe Knox with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his final game, plus Mike Sheriff Jambs adding 19. Points in A-Boards, Michy Johnson scored 14, but went three for 15 from the field.
