3:11But man when you look at this and you think about again, they run a three three five and you know they play you know about two cornerbacks three safeties. There is the one Deep center Safety, which is probably going to be CJ Richard from Illinois State six starts, but he played in every single game for the FCS runner up Graded out at 79.2 this past year Corey which I'm pretty sure was higher than what Earl graded out at but obviously a little bit Probably But he'll he'll be the guy probably playing deep middle your your strong safety rover I'm imagine it's going to be Barker and then macaque Jones coming in from Duke is going to be your your other Starting safety like that's that's strong that that's very strong. That's I should have looked at everybody else in the conference I say I think that's the best Trio of safeties and the conference, but I didn't so I'm not saying that and then obviously a cornerback you got rolls coming back And I would assume near my channel is going to be the opposite cornerback of him years two starters and then That's the one position though cornerback where it's I think there's

4:15There's more of a drop off. I think it's safety But cornerback is a little bit concerning too because Quindarius Jones is coming back from injury Charles Lester hasn't really been able to get on the field that much I know it's only been two seasons, but he was one of the more heralded guys We'll see how Chuck Kennen Factors into things at cornerback But what are your thoughts when you think about this defensive backfield? Do you think it is one of if not the strongest position for this team this coming year? No, because I'm not as high on the safeties as you are. I like Barker He showed a lot of flashes, but I'm not sold on the two transfers. I know the kid played a lot at Duke But I don't know that he played all that well, and I don't think that was a very good defense So I don't know if he's just a guy or more than that and the same with the kid from Illinois State like It's nice that he had a deep run, but again, I'm not sold that he's I certainly not sold that either one of those guys are a step up from Earl Little um, and so that's That's that's that's my concern. I the corners or yeah, I think the corner rolls especially. I think as an NFL

5:17It's good to have NFL talent. I think rolls is an NFL corner Um, so that's good But yeah, I think there's luckily I think they have enough bodies in the secondary and again This guy is proven he will play the best player regardless of class Um, that there will be a real healthy competition. I the beauty of those two guys the transfers coming in Um, is that they don't come in Feeling like they better not anyway. I hope be like their job is just theirs to it's theirs. They're starting They probably think they're gonna start as you'd want them to they probably expect to start, but this isn't um I don't know man. I'm trying to this isn't like Trey Weisner like oh, I'm definitely getting a ton of carries like these guys have to go Earn it they have to go win those jobs. They are not They're not household names. They are not undeniable So there will be a healthy competition this spring and then again into the fall to get on the field And I do like that they have a lot of bodies and I think some capable bodies Back there at both positions at corner and safety. So we'll see how it goes. I'm not I'm not sold on that yet

6:21I like rolls and I like Barker. I think it's too early on literally anybody else and yeah lester Has not played much and when he gets in the game. He hasn't been overwhelming Is Kai Bates still on the team? No, he went to Wisconsin Quandaria's Jones though. We think there's maybe something there Um, but yeah, they that I think they've got like dudes But how good are they we just we don't know yet It's hard to keep up with I was thinking Kai Bates was on the team. Oh Yeah, I mean, so I just I guess I'm gonna be the the positive guy today Not that you're being negative or anything. Of course. I knew there was another person in that class Then I was trying to think up with Lester. He's been it's true. Yeah, it's Jamari Howard. They can't stay healthy Maybe he's like I mean you love the size though, right? And they did talk about him glowingly when they did see him at full speed But you know six to two hundred. I mean, that's that's something to get that's something that can maybe get you a little excited Yeah, I don't know where Carson Hobbs from Notre Dame factors into this if I'm not mistaken

7:22He started the first two games of the year for Notre Dame, which was Miami and Texas A&M Which I think where they're only losses not to say that he's the reason for it But then like he got moved out of the starting lineup and then you know started seeing his playing time diminishing So it sounds like he could play either Like that slot cornerback third safety or he would be one of the outside cornerbacks That would back up probably either Rawls or Chandler But I just was like my Kai Jones that that's a kid that played like last season was his first year And he played over 300 snaps and really like the last three games of the season Wake Forest conference championship game and the bowl game against Arizona say he went from 32 reps to 44 reps to 46 reps snaps And he graded out at 75 against wake and 73 against Arizona say so like he's got he's got a lot of runway ahead of him and growth Potentially so you feel good about that No, I mean just Richards another guy that is That's going to be interesting because he played no football in 24 So he goes from not even be able to get on the field

8:23Right Illinois state and I don't think it was because of injury And then in 25 He only he started six games. He played in every single game But he wasn't like a full-fledged starter until the end of their run if you will So he goes from not being able to play any football to like not really being in the plants at the beginning of the season Then all of a sudden he's kind of thrust into a larger role Now he's at Florida state That's going to be a tough transition you would think But you know there's this coaching staff is shown that they can get guys ready to go year one Freshman so why not a guy that's got that much experience of Ricky night Ricky night Ricky night came in that I know I know it's like he hadn't done anything But like I I was impressed with him at times when we got to watch practices And I thought he could have played a couple of years ago anyway and never really got it was on the scout team Maybe he takes a step again This is the time for somebody like him Kirkland who's got some experience in his plate a lot I think he's definitely in the mix at one of those spots He is again not bathed himself in glory But he's played some football and he's an experienced guy and

9:26They really are guys all over the country that take jumps The you know at one year out you're just getting bigger getting stronger getting better Getting smarter focusing in like all these things that happen just over the course of maturing They can't happen in Tallahassee too. So guys that we're not counting on Like a like a Howard or Ricky night or a king Thomas doesn't say yeah guys might might be able to To take a leap by the way real quick. I was just looking at the roster Jarvis boat right. Yeah, what's it? What's his story? Oh, man? He couldn't get on the field but it says his previous school was USA. I know Yeah, I know and he couldn't get on the plate there need correct I mean didn't didn't get on the field last year either. So I don't know I we never got any injury So I just think it's you know, maybe a skill fit thing, but he's still here So they they didn't tell him to leave and he didn't want to go somewhere else But I'm not the only I'm not either. I just said I was looking at that like no USC and then I don't remember him at all last year. Yeah, he barely played

10:27And then I don't know if I already mentioned Crutchable. I think like Crutchfield's the the X factor I think at that you know position at least it's safety at cornerback. Maybe I would say Kenan or we could say you know Jamari Howard if you can finally be healthy But again like Crutchfield being you know six three we haven't even mentioned KJ Kirkland KJ Kirkland probably backs up one of the guys Well, I did just mention it, but it's fine. I said a lot. I said a lot of names there in the row in a row I don't like to correct you like that as long but I wanted I wanted people to know that I remember saying KJ Kirkland But yeah, Jordan Crutch will just be in six three two oh five You know the way he played in the biggest game of the season for his team and then the state championship game like that's That's good stuff. They're there's good traits there.
