Traveling through Montana Territory toward Fort Benton with the elderly bullwhacker Scales, Kendall encounters the wounded Bill Logan, known as the Powder River Kid. As a reward and a dying man’s request complicate the journey, Kendall faces a tense frontier question of mercy, justice, and duty.
