On May 2nd, imagine being 7 years old and having Jack Nicholson hurl fake vomit right at you during a movie shoot. That's exactly what happened to Saskia France's Bruce back in 1986 on the set of The Witches of Eastwick. She was an extra in a wild church scene where Jack played the devil, and for $100, she got cherry juice splattered on her instead of... doing boring schoolwork in a hotel room. Her dad was a film editor, so she tagged along on sets around the world from Australia to the US. Life became one big adventure of waiting between takes, but the real highlight was craft services that endless spread of candy, sodas, chips, and pastries way better than her usual veggie pack lunches. As a kid, the downtime dragged, but she dug the behind the scenes vibe. By her teen years, she'd rap school early and join dad in the cutting room, sinking film reels and prepping footage on machines like the Steenbeck. She popped up on iconic sets too, like the Beaufort Deadcom, a water tank for the perfect storm, and even a prison for the Shawshank Redemption.
Exeteriors. Those experiences hooked her for good. Fast forward, and Saskia lands her first gig out of college as a production assistant on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone full circle back to. Set life, still eyeing at craft services table.
