From 0-5 To 10-8

0:00I'm gonna make it into one question. The North Motorsport. The North Motorsport. The North Motorsport. You gotta give us a shot. You know what? Everybody, let's do your job. Let's do it. You gotta stay next. What? Rec. The Namier Guild. The North Motorsport. The North Motorsport. Who said that? Who said that? FSU ends the regular season with a 10 and 8 ACC record. As predicted here, they would not win one. Is this a game? Who said that? Incredible. Not one, but 10. What a fun team. And just, you know, it's probably not going to happen.

1:03I went into the game today. It was great atmosphere, you know. Not to sell out, but everybody was saying. I wasn't a sell out anyway. But, man, I'm telling you what, man. You got something cooking here. And I think you got the right guy at the home. And I think FSU fans need to really get behind this basketball team. Yeah. Screw football. I mean, just based on the way the landscape is, the way that how much money you have to have in football to be able to compete. You don't need as much in basketball to be able to compete. You just need the right guy. And a little bit of, like, mula. Because you only have five spots. In football, you got to spread across. You got LSU making 48 million this year. They're roster. So, right. Why not invest in something that's fun? It was fun to see this team that was 0 and 5 in the ACC.

2:05And now finish 10 and 8, 17 and 14 overall. A winning season. They're going to go play in a postseason tournament. It's pretty incredible. And it's one of those teams that I bet if you ask Coach Luke that he's always going to have a soft spot for it. Because this is his first team. Right. And they were counted out. And just the, I've really enjoyed watching this team fight. Pick 15th. Going into the season. And a Pat Kennedy's team, 91, 92, 5 ACC road games. Who would have thought that this team, that Luke's first team would be the one to match that record of five consecutive road games. They didn't, they didn't piss on that. They won and easily in this game to finish the regular season 10 and 8 in the ACC. And an ACC that is a lot better than it has been in the last few years.

3:09Yeah. Yeah. I think ACC is better than the SEC in basketball this year. I would agree. I think that it's in basketball especially, it's year to year. Like you really, you can't, you really can't judge anything with the previous year because so many teams are going to have the whole roster flip. Yeah. And it's such a, you only have five spots. So in basketball this season, it's hard to have projections. And it's hard to like who they're going off numbers and kind of system like things they have in the past because the eyeball test right now tells me I don't want to play this floor state team. And there's teams that are going to get in the tournament that are losing the Georgia Tech at home. Right. You know. Yeah. And yeah. I like the direction that FSU is going.

4:10What do you think there, Jimmy? I wish that a couple of games have gone differently. Wake Forest, Florida. You may be talking about a team that's on the bubble. Well, you know, I think if, honestly, if you really think about it, just say they win the Florida game. They hit a three at the end. They win at Florida with the same record. They're probably on the bubble. Yeah. I mean, because then they're 18 and 13. And then they have probably the best win in the country. Yeah. I mean, yeah. But, but that just to the fact that we're having these conversations. Yeah. You finished seven spots higher than ACC than you were picked. It was exciting to see, but it almost like it was like it clicked for coach.

5:13He was coming in this headstrong, right? He was coming in this like, hey, this is my territory. I'm coming here to win. We're going to do it this style. I've been out in Golden State. I'm going to do it this way. And it was like, oh, yeah, you just gave up 113 points at home to NC State. Right. You're going to have to play defense. Yeah. And he did what he had to do. And this team is doing what they had to do. And it's so much fun to watch for me. And I'll remember it no matter what happens, no matter where they finish. And I think it's going to be the NIT. I mean, but who knows? Go to Charlotte. Win the damn tournament. Who knows? You still got the conference ceremony. I love the contributions tonight. And in particular, from a few guys that weren't relied upon at all. Sha Muhabid. Yeah. He came in early on. He started the momentum of the game.

6:13Yeah. With the, with the finish, with the Aliyub dunk and one right, the first possession he was there, he started the momentum. And we're from there, man. The Chosu Wiggins. What do you have? 31, 33 points to have guys that don't play be able to come in and contribute shows buying. Yeah. That shows buying more than anything there is because that that's proofing like there's nothing there show that that guy was going to play. He hadn't been playing at all. And he came in and executed. That shows that that shows that the team. They're buying in to what the coaches speak in. I like the direction they're going. You look at the recruiting that that's going on right now with Luke, number eight class in the country. And people are buying in and they should. And you should support this team. And it's an electric atmosphere. Even when it's what 70% full like it was today.

7:16Yeah. It's still you feel a buzz. And when it's when it's 100% packed, it's it's one of the most special places in the country. It's tough place to play, man. And the Knowles finish out the year 17, 14, 10 and eight in the conference. They will get probably based on a lot of losses. And they're going to be eight or nine. They're going to probably play cow. Right. And we playing Duke if they if they. Why not bring it? Bring it. Bring it. Make people have to put you in. You know, what if you upset Duke and then don't win the championship? Do you? I just, I mean, you're in IT most likely. If anybody's been want, if you watch enough basketball right now, if you looked at Clemson and you looked at Florida State, I would, if you were anybody, you were like, oh my god, I'd rather play Clemson. Yeah. I mean, it's just this teams. It seems to be on the upside.

8:17Right. You don't want to play Florida State right now. So I'm looking forward to an NIT bid, honestly. I was saying that last year as a goal. And this year it feels like just cherry on top. And honestly, because you just worked at the fundamentals, you wanted to get better. And you did. You tried it one way and just the turnaround to show that you had the humility to look yourself in the mirror shows the players. You know what? I got to do whatever I got to do for this guy. Yeah. This guy, you know, I, and, and that was, that was big. And this was big turning point. They've been a different team. And it's been fun to watch. Really? I think they definitely have the right guy. Well, I mean, you look at other coaches right now.

9:19I mean, Florida's got the right guy. Miami's got the right guy too. Florida looks in basketball like it used to in football in the 90s right now. Yeah. In terms of just, I mean, right now all programs are on the rise. I mean, Florida just won the national championship. They look like they're favorites to do it again. Miami is going to be tough lost today. They took a tough loss today, but they're going to make the tournament. They got a young coach. Laox is turning them around. He's in the NIT, USF. They're going to make the tournament UCF's going to be the tournament. People want to go to Florida. Yeah, stayed stayed basketball. Florida is stayed a basketball is really changed on the upswing. You know, where are you going to go for that one or two years? I mean, if I can go here, it's just, it's just all different.

10:19But it was a big, it was a big win today. Ten and eight, man. Ten and eight in the ACC and a good day. After an O and five start. And you're talking about a team that said a record with five consecutive road wins. That Leonard Hamilton never did. Right. He's hanging up in the Raptors. Okay. And I love. I love it. After an O and five start, you went ten and three. Yeah. This is that you. This is really good. And it's get on board, man. Let's get on board, man. Yeah. We got the class coming in. Yeah. I mean, there was play and it was fun to see this team just buy in. Like even in the first half, excellent boxing out was done. But you know, some of the guys are just too tall.

11:19Right. I mean, it's just. Yeah. But you just love. You could see. You made him work for it. You could see the execution there. You made SM. It didn't get the result, but it was like, damn, you can see him boxing out. And it was just bounced to him. And you made him doing that. And you're going to be all right. And you ended up. And that's what they've been doing. You ended up fouling them out. That's the. You made the SMU big guy work. Right. And he had to foul out. Right. Because he's going to be telling you sometimes because the ball's going to go right to you. Right. Well, and that's the thing. That's that's on Laox is is all right. So they they clearly want to use him offensively. So we're going to go. When we have the ball and we're going to go at him. Yeah. Make him commit fouls and get tired. Yeah. Because like he had a couple shots were in the game. We were like, why aren't they doing this every time? Because he's got to do it on the defense. Exactly. He got tired. It was a good good game plan. And I will say like Boopy Miller for SMU.

12:21Like that. That kid can play. He's got it. He's got a quick hand. I think he had 28. 30. 31. Something like that. There's a little bit of extracurricular activities. Yeah. Well, they're you know him and Robert McCray both from Wake Forest. Familiar with each other. Laox was involved with the extra clapping. I saw it. I saw you to get help back. This is a sweet game. I mean, I just love it. This is any interview. Any interview. That's another thing. I want Laox to be his own. He's a guy who's involved and wants to talk to the officials. Yeah. And I freaking him here for it. He got to remember. I am here for it. You know who wasn't Leonard. He was not. And at times I was being like, come on man. Every time he would, it would like fluster. And it would grow on him. And he would just. But if he just let it out. When it happened. He'd pick and choose. You don't have to go crazy coach.

13:21I think you should let it out as it happens. I love how he's doing it. You have to keep on the officials, man. Everyone's human. Yeah. And you're. You're the representative for this team. Right. And these guys have stake. Into what happens to your team. Right. So why not. Why not let him have it. And I love seeing it. I love seeing it in Laox. That's the number honestly. That's probably my number one thing. That I'm happy about him. Because when you come to like the head coach. That's what it. That's the kind of stuff it is. Yeah. You got to work the officials. You have to. It's like extracurricular. It's part of the game. Yeah. I don't think I said that right. I mean, it goes hand in hand. All the best coaches or guys that work the officials.

14:22I mean, even Tom Iso, his old ass, even still is, you know, that's how he gets by. Yeah. Well, no matter what happens, 17 and 14, 10 and 8 on your first year is something to be very proud of. Yeah. Like everyone on this finish. 7, 8, 9 special day for. They were. Yeah. They were picked 15th. Preseason. These guys. These guys will be remembered. Yeah. And because I think what's in the future is going to be even greater. And they know that. And people are going to like where to start. And they're going to look back at that 0 and 5 start in the conference. That win at Miami. Yeah. And that loss at SMU by three.

15:24And just just the different attitude and the preparation and what it takes to win. And it's been. It's been a pleasure to watch and I believe in them. And I want to see it grow. I want to see them win. Make a run in the NITA. Yeah. Why not? Sure. I mean, that's what you got to go for. Yeah. Yeah. That's what you play for. And if they're. If they're better than you and they're. Like I said, like it. Like we said earlier when. When they were boxing out. Perfectly. And the guy got it. If that's what happens. Shit. Yeah. So that happens. What happens? But I loved watching these guys play. I've loved. I've loved watching the buy-in. It's been fun to watch. Yeah, man. I had them win in no games in the conference. After the only five stars, I did. These guys aren't winning. Shit. I'm not winning. Shit. And here we are. Ten and eight. So I'm saying, man. Finishing eight spots better than all the experts expecting to.

16:29It's a credit to the staff. Yeah. Staff. Players. Everybody involves. Even the chick you spilled beer on. Everybody involves. See. See. See. See. See. See. See. See. See. See. See. I like to watch it. Yeah. I never thought I would love it as much as I did.

17:30But curling is... It's something I want to give a shot. I want to try. Doesn't look easy. No. I mean, take skill. You got to get out there and clean. Over and over again. You got to clean that shit. You got to jerk it. Jerk it. Clean it. Clean. Clean! We had to go. Alright. Here we go. Shuttle. Shuttle. Yep. We got to get on out of here. That's the sport right there. FSU baseball. It's gonna be a season. Just like... I know. But I don't... For me, it's just like... For me, attention at the end. Yeah. And that's when all, like, you're a person. And I just want to see this team go out and win.

18:32But... Right. I mean, that's not how it works. You got to play the games on the schedule. Ugh. Such trash. But what do you think so far early on in the season, Jimmy? I think that you got a bunch of good kids who are all in their second year of playing big time baseball. So it might not happen this year. I hope. I hope that most of them come back. How about we change this? Where's the potential of this ball club? The potential? Yeah. What could this team do? I mean, there's definitely potential to make Omaha. But you go. It's... You know. I'll tell you right now, you took that team that had fears and go... Right. I'm part of the blue that call again since the... It could have been an issue!

19:32I'll never get over that. I've got to get to Omaha. All right? Yeah. You've got to be positive and you've got to... It's baseball. Yeah. That's the thing. It's baseball. They've got some good threats. No, they've got some good threats. They've got a big stick at first. They do. They can hit it a million miles. They've got some good threats. They've got to be selected. It's going to be... This season will be just around the team and how good they are in the lineup and how good they are as a staff throughout the game. And up and down the lineup, it's based throughout the games. Exactly, though. It's baseball. And we'll watch. We'll react to it. And we'll watch some basketball and see how this all plays out.
