Friends Stab Each Other After Booze, Cocaine

0:00On March 30, two long-time friends in North Belfast ended up stabbing each other after a morning of heavy drinking and cocaine on March 26. Lee White, 33, and Jonathan Bakes, 35, were found covered in blood at a house on Bending Street around 2 p.m. Both got hit with charges of wounding, with intent to cause serious harm in carrying an offensive weapon. Police say the pair started off chilling at Bakes' spot, but things escalated fast as they got wasted. Cybermedics rushed in after stabbing reports, treating White for a punctured lung, and Bakes for a chest wound. In interviews, each pointed the finger at the other, swearing they were just the victims. These guys go way back as buddies, but cops painted White as having a real knack for violence, especially showing up armed at a friend's place. Bakes deals with paranoid schizophrenia and was acting out at the hospital, landing him an extra disorderly behavior charge. White's lawyer argued his client was just there to help a distress pal.

Bale got shot down for White in court, with the judge calling his drug habit wildly out of control and the risks too high. They're both locked up now, White until April 27, as the case keeps unfolding in Belfast courts.
