From Tampa Bay, this is your March 4th update. Kids in Tampa now have a great chance to learn wrestling for free, thanks to former state champion Patrick Spano. He's offering classes at the University Area Community Development Center for ages 7 to 18, including headgear and shoes at no cost. Beginners are welcome to join. Spano knows firsthand how wrestling can change lives. As a nine-year-old with a bad temper, he found an outlet through martial arts and the sport. To help him control his anger and lead to a state title at Chamberlain High School. These days, Spano teaches at Leto High School and leaves the Tampa chapter of the Beath the Street's nonprofit. The group uses wrestling to steer kids toward positive paths, and he's partnering with the Center's Get Moving Wellness Program to make it happen. Classes run two hours long, twice a week from 5pm to 7pm, and continue until May. It's all about building discipline and fitness in a fun way.
