Former Mayor Convicted of Rape, Faces Decades in Prison

She now faces up to 10 years for the rate charge and 7 years for the other count. During the trial, witnesses including family members confirmed seeing Roberts with a boy and her ex-husband testified that she admitted the incident to him. Text messages shown in court backed up his account where she expressed regret over her actions. Roberts made history in 2018 as the first woman elected mayor of deritter and won a second term in 2022. She resigned just one day after the investigation started, without mentioning it in her letter. She posted $75,000 bail and was released while awaiting trial.
