God breaks you down and then builds you up strong. A lot of us unfortunately treat feelings like it is God. I can't surrender. That's why I go to Jesus. When someone thinks that they're right, you cannot correct them. Am I trauma loyal? Or am I gospel and scripture loyal? So I think what I wanted to kind of talk about today more than anything. It's been kind of on my mind is what does it actually mean to surrender to God? What does it actually mean to surrender to God? Most people think surrender means like crying their eyes out, sacrificing everything, laying everything on his feet. A lot of the times it can sound like that because we're taught that way. But the truth is you have to ask yourself how do you know your surrender to God? You have to ask this one question. If God's word, let's say, says one thing and then your feelings and your circumstances and
your thoughts say another thing, which one are you actually following? If you follow God's word, that is what surrendering is. Surrender means the word of God gets the final say. Even if your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, your body, essentially your circumstances hasn't caught up. Even if it's like it doesn't agree. So that part of surrender that's difficult is not that it's hard to surrender. The part that we don't like is it doesn't match what I think and feel. So now what I'm trying to do is I'm trying to still placate to what I think and feel. And then also accept the word of God. But they're two complete polar opposites. Isaiah 55 verse 8 is very clear. It says, for my thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are my ways your ways. But the issue is, no, no, no, I think my way is God's way. And I want actually God's way to be my way. That's just kind of what it is at the end of the day.
A prime example of this and a good example of this would be the wedding at canna. If you look at the wedding at canna in John chapter 2, they run out of wine. And obviously wine symbolizes not just the blood of Jesus Christ, but what that blood brings to sinners like us, which is joy. So wine represents joy at the wedding. If there is no wine, it means there is no joy. That's what they're saying. So Mary does this really well in John chapter 2 verse 5, where she says, whatever he says, do it. Whatever he says, she's saying to the servants, my son, John, whatever he says to you, do it. That is surrender. Notice how she doesn't go, whatever makes sense to you, whatever feels right to you, whatever matches what you see, think and feel. She doesn't say that. She says whatever he says, you are to follow, you are to throw away basically your thoughts in your feelings
and accept the word of God. And then what does Jesus say? He says something really well. He says draw and serve. At the end of the day, it's water. They see it, it's water, they taste it, it's water, they touch it, it's water. But then he goes draw it out and serve it to them. Well, the governor of the feast is a governor. It means he's a lawmaker. He's very high up. If you disrespect the governor, it's not good for you. It's like disrespecting a lawyer or a cop or a politician. It's not going to work out for you. It's not going to end well for you. But when their eyes look at it, it's water. Logically speaking, it's water. They touch it, they taste it. In all of their experience and all of their worldview and all of their perspective, it's water. But then Jesus says through his lips, it is wine. The one thing that's really amazing about these servants is that they listen to Mary who told her, who told them to listen to Jesus.
So although it looks like water, they had to throw away what they thought. They listened to the servant, which is Mary. And then they witnessed the miracle. But notice what came first. They had to throw away their thoughts, a.k.a. surrender. Understand? So in the same way, a lot of us have water situations in our lives. But Jesus is saying it's wine. Okay, I have anxiety. But Jesus is neural. I'm going to teach you through this anxiety, patience. So we carry this water, right? Understand? And we think it's water. But Jesus says it's wine. I carried my past, for example. I thought it was water. I think it was horrible. Right? Jesus wants wine. I'm thinking, no, this is water. Why would you give me this? But surrender is basically this. Is carrying the water like it's wine, because Jesus said so. That's what surrender is. Surrender is not, it makes sense to me. Okay, let me taste it.
It does kind of taste like Merlot. It does taste like red wine. Okay, that is wine, then. That's not surrendering. That's confirmation. That's agreeing. Right? So regardless of the opinions, regardless of the situations, God is saying, I don't need you to give me your unsolicited opinions. I need you to take my truth, not opinion. It's to accept the truth, whether it makes sense to you or not. Understand? And again, this is where we struggle with. Right? So this is foundationally, however, what you need as a Christian. If God is saying you're forgiven, right? The struggle is going to be, but my feelings don't say that I'm forgiven. My feelings actually feel that I'm dirty still. If God says you're worthy and accepted and you're beloved, right? God loves you. But then your feelings say no, but he rejected me because I reject myself and everybody else rejects me. This is where surrender has to actually apply. So he teaches the foundation, wedding at canna, but it bleeds into everything else.
Do you guys understand what I'm saying? Right? So God says walk by faith, not by situation, not by sight. But what do we say? Well, the sight and the situation that I see right now is all panic. How can I walk by faith? God says you have peace. No, I don't though. I lost my job. I lost my kids. I lost my family. I lost everything. How are you going to tell me? This is where you have to surrender. No, no, although God says this, and although I feel this way, what God says goes, that's what actual surrender is. A lot of you guys struggle with this because what you do is you want to acknowledge your feelings and then also acknowledge his word, which is completely different than your feelings. You want to acknowledge your circumstance, but you also don't want to acknowledge the word of God. And you want to bend them actually to your circumstance. So now the real question is this, right? What is important to you guys? Your thoughts or the word of God, you have to really think about this. Now a lot of you guys don't realize that it's not just thoughts. It's your trauma, it's your emotions. Those things kind of unfortunately take precedence over the word of God.
And God will allow certain situations to reveal that to you. I feel like I'm following God and then God will give you a chance to follow him, to break you down and then expose that you're not actually following him, which is mercy at the end of the day. So we have to ask ourselves, am I trusting my emotions and my thoughts right now? Am I trauma right now? Or am I trusting the word of God? Am I trauma loyal or am I gospel and scripture loyal? Which one is it? Understand? You guys got that right? So when you think about this deeply, right? Feelings are real, yes. Feelings can be valid in some times, sure. But feelings are not God. A lot of us unfortunately treat feelings like it is God. And when you do feel like feelings are God, then your feelings become your God and then you live wherever and you go wherever it takes you, you follow whatever it says, you listen to whatever it says to you, right? You listen to them, right? So God tells us, no, no.
Even if nothing in you agrees with God, even if the situation doesn't line up with what God says, His words still prevails, His words still stands, right? That's what surrender is. Understand what I'm saying? When you think about Jesus, He models this very well and Luke 22, right? God, if you're willing to remove this cup, you are willing to then remove the cup. But nevertheless, not my will be done, but your will be done, right? So He doesn't want to. He's crying. It's difficult for him, meaning pain and feelings are real. Even Jesus felt that. He understands us. Understand? But He's saying surrender is, I'm not going to follow what I feel is comfortable. I'm going to follow what the Father says. A lot of us follow comfort too. And because Jesus modeled that for us and He surrendered perfectly, how? Right? By dying for people that was unfair to Him, that actually crucified Him for Him, right? He died for people who didn't even appreciate Him. Right?
If Jesus says, Hey, Johnny, this water is wine. Then all I have to do is say, Amen, hallelujah, Salah. Right? Hey, Johnny, I'm allowing this to happen because it's a good thing. No matter how much you feel, get angry, get frustrated, it doesn't matter. Hallelujah, amen. Then God, okay? Hey, Johnny, you have a perfectionist mindset. Hey, I allowed that because you can't overcome that by yourself, right? You have to lean on me now. I don't like it. I wish you could snap his fingers and remove it. But that's my thoughts and my feelings. He's allowed it. So then what do I do? Okay, I'm going to allow God to be God. I'm not going to sit there and try to do the things that I want to do or you guys understand what I'm saying here? Okay. Good questions. All right. You guys can ask your questions. I'm sorry. Good, good stuff. Why now when I am listening to you, I am unfocused. And only if I think that the lesson pertains to me, I will hear you out. Am I trans-actionalizing again? Yes. Is it so hard to deny my feelings sometimes it works, sometimes it does, and I'm continuously going to God and saying to him that he takes care of it
because I can't. And he says that even when I don't believe he abides faithful, he cannot deny himself. Is it still a trans-action? Of course. The reason why people can't listen to other people foundationally is because number one, they trust and believe what they feel. They can't surrender to the servant because deep down inside of your heart, there's something that is either unfixed or misaligned. Unfortunately, a lot of us think that deep, deep in our hearts, we're better than people. And I think deep down maybe in your heart, you think you're better than me. Even though you may be like, no, the reason why people say no is because they don't want to look bad. But if they really just peel their heart open, how can you not listen to somebody who's giving game? How can you not listen to somebody who's talking about surrender? It's only because it's for your benefit. Meaning you care about yourself. You're sitting here, let's say, and someone has got a billion dollars and they're teaching you
how to make money. Two things are going to happen. Either you're going to really listen or you're not. If you don't listen, it's probably because you don't care about money, which I find it hard to believe because everybody does in some way, shape, or form. Or you think you're better than that person. Or you think that, yeah, you already know those things. Or you don't even really want to hear what they have to say because you're okay with where you're at. It's a multitude of things. But at the end of the day, it ends up with you're not listening. Why aren't you listening? Because some way, shape, or form what that person is saying in your mind, whether it's true or not, it's not beneficial to you. So of course, we transactionalize because why do we transactionalize? We peel it back because we think it's beneficial. So anything that you don't think is beneficial to you, you're not going to listen. That's a normal thing. People are not going to listen to things that they don't feel like is beneficial to them. But that's still you at the center of it. And so what needs to actually die, what needs to humble down, is this heart of, well, I don't know anything.
And even though it's not beneficial to me, I should still listen because how do I know what's beneficial to me or not? I've led my life and I thought things were beneficial and I've led it into straight up misery and depression and loneliness. So why would I not hear people out? And so that's kind of how it is at the end of the day. So yeah, I mean, it's just because unfortunately a lot of us in here just have that heart like I'm better than you. You know, I know better than you. You don't have to say it. I don't think you guys blatantly think like pompously I'm better than you. But you can see it through the actions. Why won't you listen to somebody? Right. If you say you love somebody, let's say, and the woman, you say you love a woman, and your woman is asking you, hey, can you please change these things? X, Y and Z. And the reason why you don't change is because I mean, you can use all of these excuses, but it's because you don't respect them. Right. If an officer told you to do something, you don't even know them, you don't have a relationship with them, but you respect their authority. You will do it right away. Otherwise, you're going to jail. Right. So in the same way, like a lot of people, they say,
like, I love you. But what they what they don't realize is they're filtering that. Well, I think I love you. Therefore, I love you. No, there's real love and there's what you think is love. Makes sense. So a lot of you guys think you respect me, but you don't. Because if you did, you will listen to what I'm saying. Right. That's why pastors say that he likes to use the word despise. Makes sense. Dispise means like, why are you despising me? He used to say that to me. And I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, when I told you to, you know, pass out the flowers for Christmas Contata, why did you go and do your own thing? And I'm like, no, but pastor, I love you. And if you ask me arguably, of course, I love him. Of course, I he saved my life. You know, and he he reconciled my relationship with my father. But in that specific moment, why didn't I listen to him when he said, do this and do this? Why? Because I didn't respect it. And deep down, I realized something, why would I do this for that? I can do other things better than passing out flyers. It was beneath me. I didn't even realize that I had that heart, but I did. Because otherwise, why wouldn't I do it? Right? Your pastor, who you, who you claim to really love, who you claim saved
your life, who you claimed, brought all of the things that that into your life that was peaceful and loving and caring has never done you dirty has never lied to you. Always looks out for you. They tell you to do one thing and you say you respect them and you love them. Why won't you do it? Something as simple as passing out flyers because it was beneath me. Do you understand what I'm saying? So like, I had to realize that even though I didn't feel it and I didn't want to open that wound because for me to then accept and acknowledge that I didn't respect the person who literally is the force behind bringing Jesus to me, right? Bringing Jesus and God into my life and transforming my life through the Holy Spirit, that person, I don't respect and I don't listen to. Then what does that say about me? I had to reflect on myself then, oh, I'm a scumbag then. I'm ungrateful, definitely stubborn, definitely selfish, definitely not thinking about other people's hearts, definitely not appreciative. Then that right there was too painful for me. So without me realizing it subconsciously, I already put a book on. No, I love you. I care about you. Listen to you every day.
That's what people do in this discord all the time. They bring up things that aren't even relevant. Makes sense? They bring up things, well, I follow you for two years, right? Some of you guys are also very high-hearted in here respectfully, right? You think that when I'm speaking to everybody, I'm specifically speaking to you, right? How crazy is that? We're in a room with 600 people and they think, Johnny, are you talking to me? If you talk to me, pull me to the side. I'm not talking to you, but then if I say that to them, they either recluse up, they get angry or they go, oh my gosh, like, all right, I'm going to leave. I'll be quiet. Why? Because that would then, if they have to acknowledge, then what is it they have to acknowledge? Man, I'm the main character. I'm very selfish and I'm very self-centered and they don't want to listen to that. No one wants to hear that, right? But here's the thing, when you realize that you're self-centered and you acknowledge that, then that's when you stop being self-centered. Why? Because you can actually acknowledge and you can now start to work and it can start to grow and God can actually humble you because now you can't
say you're not self-centered, you're keeping it real and then God will work, right? So people, they struggle with this. Well, I don't want that. I don't want to. I just know because then it's too much of a burden. It is a burden, of course. But when you acknowledge that, okay, this is who you are, you're not doing really well, then what's the problem with that? Then it's only up from here, but that's the enemy. The enemy likes to go, no, you protect yourself, you're a loving, caring person, you're amazing, you're great, but you also have mental issues. You also have anxiety and depression and loneliness. It doesn't even make sense. One side, he's telling us we're great and we're this and this and the other side, he's saying we're miserable and we're lonely and we suck. So it's like, it doesn't even make sense. He's playing with us. Basically, what Satan is doing, he's toying with us. Brothers and sisters, you have to see that. He's toying with us and we're listening to him on both ends of the spectrum. And this is why I say you have to surrender to that. That is indeed double-minded. That is indeed serving two masters. So we don't even recognize those things. That's why we have to
realize that. And I did that a lot of the times in my heart, too. I had to really look in the mirror and go, why am I getting offended by what this person is saying? Why am I getting offended by what pastor is saying when, again, he's a person who cares about me, who's led me to the gospel, who's in every way sacrificed his life to teach me, to guide me, to fight for me, to break down those traumas and unpack those traumas and heal it from inside out, from the root, not just the fruit. And yet he asks me one thing and I can't do it. But I claim that I love him and I respect him. What I realized was I was in love with the idea of respecting somebody. I never actually respected somebody. I just want to look like I respect people. I was never actually humble and had humility. I just wanted to look like I was humble and I had humility. I don't actually respect people. We have mods in here, too. I see you guys. I say something. They roll their eyes at me. No, but I'm not pastor, like they do this. They fight. And I'm like, do you even respect what I say?
You think you do, but you don't. Do you guys understand what I'm saying? Our own mods makes sense, right? So why I realized this? Oh, people need to realize this about themselves. It's things, sure. But if you realize that, then you can grow. Amen. There's something about somebody serving you and you don't even respect them. That really makes them, makes you respect them. Did you guys catch that? There's something about you realizing that you don't love somebody like Jesus and then you and then on the back end, you think he's not going to love you back, but he loves you more than you could ever be loved. He loves you more than anything. He loves you like you're the only one. That does something to you if you're at least part human, right? If you're if you're half of a human being, you would understand like holy moly. My selfishness is really has taken me so far that I can't even understand the love of God. Neither do I appreciate it. Man, there really is something wrong with me and they're in that me being that wrong and that broken
and God still loves me. That does something to human beings. If you're really there, people can't get to God not because they don't love God enough. They actually can't get to God because they think they already love him even though they can't. And when they can't and they think that they can, that's when they're blind. Because when someone thinks that they're right, you cannot correct them. If someone is sitting there and they're thinking that they love God, you cannot correct them and tell them you actually don't love God. They will take it as offense. They will be offensive and they will be defensive on top of that. But it's something when you sit there and you're like, I don't love God. And you see someone actually loving God, then you learn from them because you realize you can't do it. Why do we go to the doctor? Why do we go to the dentist because we can't fix our own teeth. We can try. We can try. But we can't do it. So we go to them. In the same way, I can't wash my sins. That's why I go to Jesus. I can't
surrender. That's why I go to Jesus. I can't pray. That's why I have to pray because I go to Jesus for that. I can't change. That's why I go to the one who changes me. You ever wake up in the morning and you want to read your Bible, but you just don't know where to start. You love God, you believe in God, but there's this gap between wanting him and actually showing up for him every single day. That gap, that's exactly why I created Core Lard Daily. I'm Johnny Chang. I spent 13 years locked up and when I got out, God found me. And I spent the next nine years reading the Bible front to back 26 times, not because I was religious, but because I was desperate. And I needed some answers and all of that was found in the Word. So I spent years figuring out how to make it simple for you. Every morning, I read your devotional, one Bible verse, simple breakdown, something you can carry into your day. No fluff, no religious language, just the word made plain and simple. There's even a street tracker inside the app, not to shame you, not to guilt you, but to just show you that you're actually showing up every single day. 15 minutes a day, a little bit of time with God, you'll start to grow and you'll start to nurture. I also have the full KJV Bible built in where you can take notes, you can underline, you can highlight, you don't
have to jump between apps anymore. And when you're ready to go deeper, there's hundreds of hours of past teachings. And every Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, I teach a live, deep dive Bible class. And there's also a group mentorship session after that. Bring me your real questions and get biblical scripture-based answers with no judgment. I even built a gospel bar. It's basically an AI that's trained on all of my teachings from when I first started all the way until now, and we continuously feed this engine. And I did this so you can get answers, rooted in the Word anytime, day or night. This is in church. This isn't replacing your community. This is you and God every single morning closing that gap or the hard daily, the easiest way to make God a habit in your life. I'll know it free today and be first in. This is really, really simple, but a lot of people misunderstand this. Satan, I want you guys to understand something, makes you to be number one. He makes you know everything. Think that you're surrendered. Think that you love people. But God does a job of
breaking us down so he can truly build us up. Satan builds us up so we can fall to our death. God breaks you down and then builds you up strong, like a stronghold. It won't topple. It can survive wave after wave of storms and earthquakes. And it survives these things. Tornados and hurricanes and all that because that's what life is. So what Satan does is he just builds you all the way up and then doesn't give you a parachute. And he doesn't build a ladder to for you to come down. And then you die. You fall to your death literally. And so we have to realize this brothers and sisters, the true surrender comes down to it doesn't matter what I think and feel. It matters what the word of God says. It doesn't matter what I think and feel. It matters what God says. At the end of the day, when you're able to realize how much God loves you, when you're able to see, hey, Jesus, you love me, you care about me. And no matter what I say or do, you've already qualified me and
you've already accepted me. So yeah, are you going to get frustrated? Of course, when things are unfair, you're going to get angry. Sure, I got angry in the morning. It's unfair. I'm angry now, technically, because I'm plugged things in. Everything works. Restart the computer. And then try again, and the video doesn't work. It's just how it is. We didn't turn over every stone, we didn't paid the guy to come back and rebuild the computer and spend more money. And it's still doing this. But I allow myself to go, okay, I'm grieving. I'm a little frustrated. But that doesn't change the fact that God used to love me. You see what I'm saying? It doesn't then bleed into the main stage either. You guys can't tell. I'm just preaching. I'm talking about surrender, and actively going through it at the same time. So you guys understand, when you spend thousands of dollars for things that should work and they don't think about that, if you spend $20, $40, $100, $100, and things don't work your pissed, imagine our harposter. Imagine us, we have to deal with these things. It's not as simple as some people have graced and go, well, that's just part of the game.
That's easy for you to say, live in it and walk through it with me and see what happens. So people don't realize that. It makes you feel horrible. But what do I have to do in real time? Well, I got a meeting at 1230. I'm supposed to be trying to figure this out. How is it that I'm troubleshooting this? I'm supposed to, why can't we have a team to come out and do these things? It's difficult, right? But what do I do? I go to God, hey, Lord, okay, if you don't want me to start the video and you don't want these people to see, then too bad. I'll take what you give me, which is these cameras are working and that's that. So even in real time, guys, I have to also learn, I have to also acknowledge, I also, right, feelings will come, but I know that feelings don't determine anything. Because in a couple of minutes, I'll be happy. And then maybe later on, I'll be frustrated again. Maybe, maybe, you know, Aaron says something or Jeremy says something or Justin says something and then I'll be mad again. Like it doesn't matter at the end of the day, right? What matters is what does the word of God say? That's what you guys have to learn. Makes sense. That's what you have to learn. So yeah,
you're going to hear this main stage and have some unlocks and go, wow, this is what surrender is. And then you're going to put it into practice. I guarantee you. And when you put it into practice, it's going to fail. You're going to mess up again. And then you're going to get angry again. And those thoughts are going to come that you suck and you don't listen, you don't care, you don't mind, you don't respect people and listen to this. And then you pick yourself up again, you listen to the word again and you acknowledge it, right? Then in there, it's another example to acknowledge and another time to acknowledge the word of God. And as you acknowledge this word of God, what's really beautiful is that day by day, you've overcome your feelings, even if it's for a split second, by choosing him over your feelings. And you will notice little by little, you grow. We want, you know, Rome to be built in a day, basically. We have this mentality of impulsiveness, where if I put my mind to it, we better get it. I tried very hard. Like I said, to do these things and get these things working, you guys were sitting there and I'm like, you know, figuring it out. And constantly thoughts come. I literally said, guys, give me a sec. Everyone just keeps coming.
I can't hear. I can't hear. I can't hear. I'm like, of course not. I'm not talking. I write it. Hey, guys, I'm not talking. Hey, what can anyone hear him? Is anyone hearing him? It's like, I literally am telling on top of me troubleshooting. So thoughts come and look at this community. These people are so selfish, right? Thoughts come. They're super selfish. They don't care. They're not even informed, right? People are sitting there, obviously, something's happening. They're not listening to you. All they care about is accessorizing you. See, these thoughts come. But right there, what do I say? What does the word of God say? No, these are precious children of God. So I have a choice, right? These people are headasses, which is my thoughts, or these people are children of God. Which one is it? Do you understand what I'm saying? No, but genuinely, you guys are laughing, but in real time, I'm showing you guys, man, these guys don't listen. They don't even realize that I'm literally troubleshooting as frustrated as they are sitting here not listening to me, right?
Because they want to hear is I'm double as frustrated because I'm trying to get them to hear and see me, right? So there's those thoughts. They seem right. Do you understand? You're underappreciated, you're accessorized. They don't even care about you. They just want to hear so that they can feel better, right? There's that, right? Which is true if you really think about it. Some of your guys' hearts is that, man, I just want to listen. I've been going through a lot of stress, man. I want to listen to Johnny and see what he has to say so I could feel better. Makes sense, guys, right? But then that seems right. Even you guys here are apologizing. I'm sorry, right? In the discord. That's true. That's my heart. I'm guilty. Sure. I'm not saying for you guys to feel bad. I'm saying in that moment, the word of God is true. The word of God says you guys are children of God that you guys will listen and you guys will discern because God gives it to you. So right there, I either choose to walk by a site, look at you guys or I walk by faith and what the Bible says you guys are, even though you're not acting like it. Respectfully, even though you're not acting like it. A lot of us in here are spiritually immature. Sure. But what does the Bible say? Philippians 1 6. He who has begun a good work
in you shall finish it till the day of Christ. So who is that then? Who is that that's going to help you guys? Who is helping you guys actively? Is Jesus Christ? So I either have to trust the word of God or have to also trust what I see. And I'm going to be honest, what you see even in real time, as you guys can see, makes a huge impact. It makes sense. That's true. John, you guys are saying that. But even though you're saying that, that's a lie too. Why? Because the Bible says Romans 3, 4, let all men be liars that God be true. I know deep down that the reason why you guys are like that is because you also trust yourself. But if you learned to not trust yourself the way that we're learning and teaching to not trust yourself and you only trust the word of God, could you ever sit there and be ungrateful to people? No. If you moved with the heart of the Bible and it says you think about others and think of other people greater than you and less of yourself, you would never even move the way that you guys move. So we don't fight negatives with negatives.
We don't go, okay, well, they're acting that way so I can act that way too. And I can trust my thoughts too. No, I'm the example here. I have to also distrust my thoughts and trust the word of God. Even though the word of God is saying so many things and my thoughts are saying so many things completely opposite of each other. Okay, guys. All right. So yeah, don't worry. You guys are the precious children of God. Act like it. Believe what the word of God says about you. Don't speak for Satan. Make sense. Don't speak and and and don't allow him to speak through you. Rather, trust the word of God. Follow the word of God. And then through that, you're able to really grow and love on God the right way. You'll experience them more than you ever have. All right. Okay. Appreciate you guys. Let me see. Exit out here. But thank you guys very much. I'm sorry that it didn't work. The video but you guys will be able to see this because this will be like a segment on the podcast. All right. Take care everybody. Have a good one. Peace.
